I thought it was good in the way Avatar and Tron: Legacy were. It was just pretty to look at, but a lot of things had me cringing a bit too much to take the movie seriously, like the guitar guy and the motocross bandits doing tricks.
Yeah but the cars ntarent cg. The crashes are all practical effects. It may be an overrated movie, but thats why. And that shit is the tightest shit, and if you cant appreciate it, youre a fag
I couldn't agree with you more
If you think it's overrated you're probably too young to really appreciate what a masterpiece this movie is. I mean just the music alone puts this movie in one of the best movies of the decade.
That shit took me out of the moment. It was a post apocalyptic dystopian future where resources were incredibly scarce, and there's idiots doing flips and shit on motorcycles and a giant rolling speaker with a guy harnessed to it playing a guitar.
Shit broke any illusion the movie had towards being anything other than a pointless summer blockbuster with tons of explosions.
This fuckin' movie.
There's a reason Max doesn't say much in this movie.
A long road trip with half a dozen women only to be a few hours into it and have to turn around again because one of them changed her mind.
I'd be pissed too.
I just saw it for the second time this week, and liked it much better than when I saw it in the theater. It's overrated--best if you just take it as an action movie with well-done practical effects. Some of the things I didn't like the first time was the dialogue was all shouted with loud music and car sounds nearly drowning it out. I also don't like politically correct calculations substituting for just a plain good story, just to be praised by critics or audiences. Somehow I was able to ignore those the second time around.
Not who you replied to but:
>Batman beats up criminals while or shortly after they perform crimes
>criminals perform heists sometimes
It isn't astrophysics, man. You can draw a conclusion.
And the new Star Trek films
and by trying to be subversive with your statement and/or opinion you try to troll /b/ with saying MMFR is overrated based on the misconseption of yours that people think it is a good movie based on the oscars it made.
but you're wrong. this movie IS a masterpiece - not on a dark knight level but close.
checked. and I didn't really think that it was that politically correct tbh because everything in the plot makes sense to me at least. You have the hot healthy chicks Immortan Joe wants to bang who obviously dont want to bang him so they get away with the one person who would actually help them, namely the other healthy female who would clearly sympathize with their circumstances.
my buddy tried saying it was a feminist film too but the way I see it anyone who survives in a post-apocalyptic world has to be some kind of badass.
I liked the movie for what it was. suck my balls
i actually thought it was pretty good at first viewing, but when i watched it the 2nd it bored the shit out of me. i was really devastated on how bad it actually was - same with star trek into darkness
>JJ is overrated
i was just pissed because Max felt like a secondary character in his own movie
Fucking DEADPOOL and any marvel movies since Disney bought marvel studios, fuck avengers, the fanboys hype anything, and make u believe its good, DEADPOOL was less than average, Avengers was less than average and even Star Wars 7, also Mad Max was some bs
dubs replying to dubs...gotta give credit where credit's due.
Perhaps why it didn't bother me the second time around seeing the film is because I watched it the way you said, on its own terms...but when I first saw it in the theater, everyone praised it with a whole pc angle. I accept in this film, it does make inherent sense, but there are now too many films where there are casting choices and plotlines to meet politically correct expectations rather than just telling a good story.
the film goes against what I said here >>699312455
it is full of sjw bullshit and the plot clearly doesnt need a black hero and the very strong feminist heroin as well. they just put that shit in there to be the sjw faggots they are.
Princess Leia in the originals was pretty badass when she needed to be but that because, once again, the plot called for it. Like when she choked out Jabba the Hut and fired blasters at storm troopers and shit. In the new star wars hollywood literally just decided to create these new characters to make themselves feel progressive and all that bullshit. its gay as hell and sad for the star wars franchise
I have seen this movie a month ago but I still get angry each time i seen or heard about it. Srls this movie was soo good for fiorst 30mint and than somebody push big red button and killed logic... This movie becose so fucking stupid that it is hard to belive
Two hours of an always annoying Mia Farrow attempting, and failing miserably to avoid elderly people.
Overhyped yes, bad no.
Moonrise is fantastic. If you didnt get it then you arent looking for the right things.
The movie is art, not something many movies are. I'm not gonna be salty if you don't like art, just saying that you can't hate me for liking it.
yeah I totally agree with you 100%. Good films and plots are being substituted for politically correct propaganda and thats just sad for the great art medium that film is, and can be if they cut out that bullshit.
In general I try to stay away from what anyone says about movies and judge it for myself because I find myself hating movies that win best picture or that everyone goes crazy about because I'm more skeptical, and enjoying movies I thought we're going to be shit because of what people said, with a great many exceptions of course.
You have to just try to watch movies and take them as they are for what you like or dislike I guess
dubs tell the truth. Wasn't it like 5 planets too? Idk, tried to forget that movie even existed. They crammed too much into it and didn't tell a good story. In the first Star Wars (1977), they took time to mourn genocide and give it weight in the story. Here, it was just a plotpoint to recreate--it had no soul.
you're talking about TGBH right? (not entirely clear)
No, it's wes anderson screaming at you for 2 hours "IT'S ART".
This. The fuck did I just watch? Mood lighting and staring angrily? Fuck off
I just can't believe The Force Awakens got 92% on rottentomatoes and 89% liked it...there's so much wrong with that movie (including your points and the others mentioned above), that I swear people are going to revisit it in a few years and see it as completely overrated.
These threads by their very nature are bait so a bunch of pretentious special snowflakes can show how different they are by disliking universally liked movies for often trivial reasons. They can flaunt their supposed superior taste and get reinforcement of this false belief though the many who disagree with them and the few who have the same problem. Look, I can do it to:
Pic related is Tarantino's second worst film after Jackie Brown. It should have ended after the mansion shoot out, then only the hyper retarded dentist caravan and Austin Powers suit would be the only stains on this film which could have been easily washed out by Leo's performance. Instead we got Quentin Tarantino's fuck awful Australian accent, an ending that might as well have had the Looney Tunes theme playing over it, and horse dancing. Could have been a cool gritty western that took a serious look at slavery, but nope, Tarantino has to make everyone know he is special.
I was so pissed I don't even remember her
Which reminds me of this fucking steaming pile
Have you even bothered watching The Road Warrior?
Avatar would be my pick for most overhyped.
I admit it was visually spectacular, but the main message was that it's OK to fuck over your own kind and commit treason if you have a hot girlfriend in the enemy camp.
Quit being such a pretentious faggot, If every movie followed the same rules and copy and pasted Citizen Kane they would be boring.
let's hope so man. The sjw stuff just shouts at me the entire film but besides that the movie really did suck a lot of dick. The plot is completely ripped off from A New Hope. And they don't even try to hide it. It's pathetic.
My cousin tried to justify the plot as "they kind of had to do that" or some shit but me and my brothers just completely fuckin hated it. Whatever dude, the next ones gonna suck too but we'll still watch it
No story, no characters, just a painfully pretentious pulp fiction ripoff. Only liked by pretentious MBA student douches.
Mad Max is what all actions movies should aspire to be.
It's a perfect action filet with all the fat cut off.
Bullshit romance plot? Out.
Brooding, psychologically tortured hero? Nope.
Multiple plot threads that don't fit together and ruin the pacing of the movie? Not happening.
What's left is a movie that has you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
This hurts me, as I have a soft spot for them, but the stories are garbage, it's riddled with plot holes and deus ex machinas and the acting is just plain lazy.
It's sad a lot of people think they *had* to rip off A New Hope. They had to do no such thing. They could have made a story that really explores new ground (especially since it is Episode VII, not Episode IV-the remake). The whole movie feels cobbled together from older elements and things meant to score political points, not tell a good, original story.
I think Max is brooding and psychologically tortured, both in Fury Road and the original trilogy (at least after he really goes *mad* in the original), but they don't slow down the movie to show that. It's lean, but it's in there.
>look its harley quinn being quirky!
>also will smith shoots stuff!
>look its harley quinn being quirky!
>also will smith shoots stuff!
>look its harley quinn being quirky!
>also will smith shoots stuff!
I made that point a bit poorly. Mad Max is tortured, but it's not the theme of the movie. You get enough of an idea to establish Max, but not more.
It's not fucking Batman levels of 'MUH PARENTS'.
its ok you are young
for just a moment dissect the movie predator
....its the best vs the best
and thats it
pure action, no drama, no dialog, no story. great action film
now dissect mad max
you want drama go watch the departed which is not a gangster movie, its a drama, the best drama
Yeah, I got your point. Just making clear that it's there, but yes, it is lean. Frankly, just my position--I didn't mind Batman's brooding in Christopher Nolan's trilogy. It wasn't so good in BvS, which was an overall mess of a movie.
>the best drama
you must be like 19 or something, right?
like i said enough times before, troll - go watch more movies. you definitely have no idea what you're talking about.
checked and yeah dude, fuckin sad the way it was thrown together like that. They tried way to hard to bring it back to IV. In the lightsaber battle in the snow, the bitch does the same crap (in the snow) to get the lightsaber back with the force as Luke in V with the yeti thing. Their nod to the past just didnt work cause the rest of the movie was a retarded ripoff.
and yeah Kylo Ren is a complete faggot. Like come on man he's so gay its retarded. I would be willing to bet they make him come back to the light side in the end.
And then they use it as an excuse to explain his formally closeted homosexuality! I'll laugh to my grave if they went that far with their agenda
for when you aren't smart enough for david lynch movies...
I bet they will try to bring Kylo back, but here's why it will be forced and not really work story-wise if they do: in A New Hope, Obi Wan was a mentor, but an old guy we've only known for about 30 minutes. Han Solo was not only Kylo's father, but one of the most beloved characters in the entire saga that we've known for 3 FUCKIN' MOVIES. You can't kill off that character and be redeemed from that, not in a way people will accept it.
Exactly, that's what's good about it, it's just simple, efficient entertainment. It's not supposed to baffle your mind or make you re-think your life, it's simply entertainment. It's the movie equivalent of a rollercoaster ride.
Study hard and maybe you'll be able to come up with some decent comebacks, and maybe even figure out why intelligent people find the pandering tripe you enjoy watching to be garbage.
Yeah thats also 100% true. It won't work like you said but they will still probably try to bring him back.
Even if they do have Kylo go full retard on the dark side he still looks like a massive bitch. I mean, dude every other sith ever has been bad as fuck. Even Count Dooku, he was like sophisticated "most interesting man in the world" kind of badass. Kylo Ren is just a whiny bitch I want to see die and replaced at best
Ehhh. That's when he fell into the wish-fulfillment revenge hole that he's currently in, but he did it well for a while. Pulp Fiction was probably the best written, but as far as entertainment goes, Basterds and Django beat it out by just a bit, imo.
I fucking hate this recent emergence of false over-intellectualism.
Like you aren't allowed to enjoy a movie that was designed to be fun.
No, it has to be deep and dark. It has to have hidden meaning.
There's artistry in making a good action movie that goes beyond guns and explosions. That's why Mad Max is a masterpiece and Transformers isn't.
Totally agree. Worst villain in the series by a mile.
Also, they could have done Solo's death so much better...if he had truly sacrificed himself--put himself in the crossfire and protesting that Kylo couldn't be killed because he believed there was a chance for him to be redeemed, it would have made Solo's death a heroic act of sacrifice of a father and put Kylo's fate into question. The way they did it was just a waste.
>two guys killing people and quoting the bible. the end.
>That's pulp fiction minus characters, dialogs and story
That's pulp fiction to you, 2 guys killing shit, quoting the bible + dialogue and characters and "story"
What the fuck is the correlation you dimwit? They don't even kill for the same reasons, and quoting the bible is done in every other movie ever. How the fuck can you even think they are even remotely the same? The only reason i could think of was because none of the movies are linear, which would have been a likeness but no where near a ripoff. calling it a ripoff for such a silly reason would be almost as dumb as saying something is a ripoff because PEOPLE ARE KILLED AND THE BIBLE ARE BEING QUOTED.
You goddamn retard, if that is the criteria for a ripoff then every other single movie made after the 30s-40s is a goddamn ripoff. Kill yourself, pretending like you don't understood what i meant doesn't do you any favours you mong.
This is what I thought of whenever Kylo was onscreen
Dude was walking talking cringe
What? That is one of the most retarded response ever. What does being unemployed or mooching off has anything to do with this? Is that what you are going through? Tell me more anon. What went wrong in your life?
Yeah dude, that scene could have been so much better, aesthetically and plot wise as well.
And yeah glad you guys agree he fucking sucks as a sith. He really is a massive cringe kek
nope off by a few decades. best friend and his bor, and his brothers wife work in movies. do you know drama or action? tell me why departed was not a drama, spell it out. explain why the departed was shit
Why would it make them look weak?
The whole point was that Han simply misjudged how far gone is son already was.
And you can't even really blame him for that because it's his son after all.
I liked the scene way more than this whole overdone 'Run while I hold them off'-sacrifice bullshit. Han doesn't need to sacrifice himself. He's already a great character.
Him dying for having faith in his son was bette than that.
But misjudging his son makes him look weak. Would've been better if he knew he was making a sacrifice to give his son a chance to amend, even if Kylo doesn't act like he will change.
This. so fucking this.
For his son though.
That's the entire point.
He didn't get outsmarted or duped by some stranger.
He just wanted to believe that there is still good in his son, arguably the duty of any father.
LotR is pretty great, effects are timeless, witting is true to JRR, Cinematography is great. Don't get why you think its overrated.
Harry potter is overrated but by no means a bad series.
Superhero movies follow a formula, however some like the dark knight that break that formula aren't overrated.
Avatar isn't that beloved and is not overrated because it's not rated highly
Star wars movies, new ones mediocre at best precludes are shit Obv, the trilogy is pretty great
300 is love/hate for people.
what other parts do you think movies have other than characters, dialogs and story, huh? well the acting, soundtrack and backdrops...
so removing characters dialogs and story leaves you with very VERY little... which the boondock saints is.
and the other factors were so formidable in the boondock saints, that I don't even remember them
His whole point was that the way they made the scene wasn't as good as it could have been.
If he sacrificed himself for his son it also would have shown that he still thought there was something worth saving left. They way they did it just made Kylo Ren seem like the autist he is in questioning over and over again.
It was just a weak scene in general man, definitely could have been better and tbh Han Solo deserved a better farewell scene for sure
Yeah but at least once he went over to the dark side (still as Anakin) he went full throttle. He didn't give a fuck about going full genocide on all the jedi, even the kids.
While I agree a bit he was miles ahead of Kylo Ren
