I've been away from the internet over the past week.

is this shit worth the money?

I was expecting a minecraft in space sort of thing.. steam has mixed reviews.

thoughts?
>>
>>699242200
Its disappointing as fuck
>>
>>699242200
If you like Minecraft and Lost in Space, go ahead.

Otherwise, buy something else.
>>
It was obvious from since this shit was first showcased that it would be insubstantial and get old quickly. You're a dullard who follows whatever's trending to even be considering this game.
>>
.
>>
>>699242200
Nah don't buy it, it's pretty but super boring
>>
The game itself is incredibly boring, has performance issues and gets repetitive real fast. It's just another over-hyped pile of shit.
>>
>>699242801
I'd wait for it to price drop to $20ish but since its been bent over and ass fucked by sony I dont see that happening any time soon.
>>
It's cool for a weekend at most.
>>
only nu males aka beta cucklords would buy nu males sky
>>
Fun.
>>
It's not worth $60 so I'm waiting till it gets lower. Seems like a fun game
>>
>>699242200
>mixed reviews
You mean mostly negative?

It's awful. Torrent if you want but don't waste money. If you're really curious, wait a year or so until it's 1.99 on steam, play it for 5 minutes, and get a refund.
>>
>>699242200
Don't the devs lied to your face. The performance on the console and pc ports are shit
>>
Is it like FUEL except in space
>>
>>699242200
Are you autistic? Than you might like this garbage.
>>
I'm enjoying it, played for around 3-4 hours without noticing. It's minecrafty from collecting different ores and such but then it has a really tripping atmosphere. If you got good headphones I definitely advise putting them in you'll freak.

If your a PC gamer please wait, it's all but bugged up right now. Once it's up to 100% I would suggest a go at it, but try a game share first.
>>
>>699245550
Nu male spotted in the wild.
>>
>>699242769
Basically every time a game makes some shitstick claim about it being infinite, the part of my brain that's not a complete toilet-drinking retard goes, "well, I understand the basic concept of video games and recognize that this would be impossible as they are presenting it."

It looks cool but it's certainly not the revolutionary art piece it was punched up to be.

I'm gonna play the free version until the retail one is refined.
>>
>>699245550
Brian is that you?
>>
>>699245855

>>
>>699246075
Two options as far as i know:
-You get to play online but you'll get banned soon
-You get to access to the whole game but offline.

In the case of nms, I guess it's the first one.

They make single player version or Lan server only cracks all the time.

I used to play arma, killing floor and tf2 on torrents over Lan years ago.

There's also a fake Lan app, I forget what's it's called but you invite people to a server and it let's you all connect as if it were LAN
>>
>>699245855

No I am not Brian, I not 100% on who that is.

>>699245684

I guess, I'm just stating my opinion while playing the game as of now, it's better to get an idea about the game from someone playing it then people who only complain about things on the Internet.

>>699246075

It's not a online game actually, the game is a single player game but with a chance of meeting other people, it's supposed to be slim though.

>>699245730

It's from a Mathematical theorem that creates a near infinite string of planets, but I get that too. I've done 3 planets right now and the animals that get generated are weird as hell.

Yeah, random generation isn't new, but claiming each is a unique experience is false. It's a finite amount of entropy, once you get the patterns it's impossible to generate a new experience incidentally. Human's brains are too good at getting used to things.

Only played for like 1.5 hours on PC. I didn't have any real issues aside from lower framerate but my PC and CPU are pretty dated but it's not annoying or unplayable. Most the negative steam reviews are about the bugs and shit instead of the actual game. I guess a lot of people are having crashing issues and stuff, haven't had one yet personally but that stuff gets patched eventually.

What little I've played of the game was alright. Minecraft at least let's you build and has biomes and what not. So far the 3 planets I've been too were pretty similar, as well as the outposts and shit. Pretty comfy game though. Hoping to see something a little different or find some cool shit to craft soon.

sad there are so many people that still think it's multiplayer. The game had a really cool concept that was poorly executed. feels like a minecraft version of spore.

I preordered this and sunked about 20 hours in. So feel free to ask any questions.

No it is nothing like Minecraft, players find this game disappointing because they thought the game was something it wasn't nor never said it'll be.

Oh and btw planets covered with trees and life and looks amazing to stare at and walk through is also rare to come by. 4/5 planets would probably not be exhilarating but some of those planets will surprise you. Then again realistically most planets are probably barren and lifeless out there. So don't expect some awesomely detail space adventure.

Pic related, one if the ice planets I been to.

>>699251492
I didn't know you can fees hostile animals definitely a note to make
>>
>>699251777
Not sure you can. I've noticed that some of the less afraid animals will charge you like they are going to attack but don't actually attack, and they'll be chill if you feed them, so I've just labeled them as "food-aggressive"
>>
>>699247105
You're forgetting that the behaviour & models are finite. You could infinitely generate planets & wildlife but you're gunna double up on something pretty quick, especially if millions of people play it

From what I've seen most planets look mostly the same.

They could have made a more realistic galaxy with inhabitable planets, gas planets such as Jupiter or ice planets I don't know. It would have been nice to have a grat variety of planets like in many science fiction universes (eg star wars)
>>
>>699252931
that would be a different game. a game worth 60 bucks

It's boring to all shit.

Unless you absolutely adore the seemingly pointless grind for a completely unsatisfying and out of course ending, don't bother.
>>
>>699252931
Meant uninhabitable obviously.

They only needed to look at our solar system to find inspiration for many different planet types, yet they only made earths from what i've seen
>>
>>699252305

that's not really true at all. You can learn every blueprint (barring the aatlas pass stuff), every word, and find every mineral on every planet.

The blueprints you find are generated based on when the object gets loaded ( so if you walk around you shouldn't encounter the same bp twice). The minerals are tied to the planet "biomes" and the language is largely pointless since the speech puzzles have all the clues you need in the prompt.

The only thing you find out via the "lore" is the gek are genocial nihilists, the machines are pacifist fucks and the pig people are cucks.

the "events" come from a pool of 5? all the crashed ships that you encounter have exactly 1 more cargo space than your current ship up to the max slots.
>>
>>699253020
Most of all it would have been worth exploring which if I understand correctly is precisely the point of the game. I'm not buying this game because I will get bored at the third planet I visit. There is a huge variety of planets in our galaxy and they only made earth like planets, smh

Planets that have an extreme or aggressive class sentials are the only ones that has graviton balls that you can simply pick off the ground. However picking them off from the ground will automatically cause a 3 star wanted level.

I've been to a planet where the go city level was heavy. There's spores in that planet that if you mined drops a very rare material (calcium).

You can't find graviton balls or calcium anywhere else. Planets must meet specific conditions.

Its for players who wants to be a trader. You have to travel back and fourth solar systems though. This material might sell double its original price or sell less depending where you are. I collected 20 graviton Balls and sold it for 100% more than its original price. It took a bit farming and o have to travel back and fourth solar system because the graviton balls are exclusive to certain planets.

Pic related. Its the new ship I brought with the money.
>>
>>699255386
No I don't think so. From what I've seen some planets are toxic and some have moons but that basically it, no gas giant, no rings, small asteroids but I don't think you can explore them
>>
>>699256067
by that definition every FPS is survival, but it aint. survival is a specific genre in which you die when you do nothing for a certain amount of time.

in NMS you can stay in your ship or in a space station without every risking death
>>
>>699256067
having enemies that attack you doesn't make it a survival game though imo. But you do have heat, cold, toxic and radioactivity meters in NMS, which might make it a survival game in some sense.

nothing of that data is send to any server.

not even saved locally. everyone can try, get a marker of some kind. don't visit it but land close to it on a spot you can find again

destroy terrain/resources there

fly into space and then back

everything is back to what it was, exactly what it was

sony had no devoplemt input on the game, they just backed Hello Games.

.

.

The game is as vast as an ocean but has the depth of a puddle. It's fantastic for a day.

Just like a thailand ladyboy, the next day you regret buying it.
>>
>>699250642
I didn't buy it (yar har, matey) but thank fuck for steam refunds too. People are going to refund the shit out of this game and it's a deserved slap in the face to Hello Games for releasing such an unfinished pile of garbage for $60. The community wouldn't be anywhere near this pissed off if they released it as an early access title for around $20 or $30. Getting involved with Sony was a huge mistake, as it made doing that impossible.

It's not a finished game, it lacks any polish, and it feels like it's barely out of alpha. It runs like absolute shit, the controls are poorly optimized for PC (flying within a planet's atmosphere is rage inducing), and in many cases the procedural generation just falls flat on its face.

I wouldn't take issue with any of this were it not for the fact that it's being marketed and sold as a finished, AAA game.
>>
>>699257500
That's the thing, are we then just experiencing the fluctuations of the server they got going now or is that going to be a permanent aspect of the game?

Unfortunately it has crashed 1 hour after starting it and I had to replay this whole hour. Second of all, this games doesn't lead you by hand. I now have to research about different spaceship speeds on internet.

I'd suggest - wait till they fix crashing (it's infuriating) and wait till price drops a bit. Maybe pick it up used for 40-50$.

probably been said a million times in this thread already but i'm too lazy to read, this game is not worth the money.

No, delays weren't probably due to PS4. PC version is way more bugged.

>>
Issue is that it's a great game but they didn't include everything right now, we still don't have base building or any form of multi-player. Don't take it as Minecraft take it as Ark Survival Evolved only with really easily beaten robots and instead of dinos you have alien creatures (barley any are hostile) anyways with space adventure and different riddles and shit. Also with a economy, but those are the main differences which add fun but again lack in action type gameplay. Dogfights are cool but that's really the only good combat. It will get better later with base building and multiplayer. Soon it will be but right now it scims the price, though again might as well get it since it has potential and might as well try it for yourself.
>>
>>699261866

earth has been around for 4billion years, the universe 10 more
there are literally trillions of alien species there who've had a massive head start and there is a reason we haven't seen them yet
not even the most advanced race can travel ftl.

>>
>>699262187
fun fact: we wouldn't know as we fucking see stars and shit from the past, the farther we look the farther back we look

if for example the closest start had a planet with aliens around it we would only know about them FTLing 4 years after they visited us... and only if we actually can detect the planet (we can't detect it in like 99% of the possible orbits)

Buuuutttt the space combat, ship-to-ship stuff is fun. Reminds me of old xwing games. If Hello Games just blew off the exploring and made a space game with a story where you were a fighter pilot and flew missions and had a plot and and junk, I'd buy the shit outta that. Kinda werid with how they marketed the multiplayer though.

The way they never really talk about it, and when they do, their answers don't make any sense makes me believe that the multiplayer wasn't done when the release deadline was due.

Maybe they had to put stickers on the boxes, because they were already manufactured, but they realised that they had to leave out their multiplayer?

Maybe they thought they would get more sales buy mentioning multiplayer, but in the end there is none? I read about two guys who found the exact same planet, but they couldn't find each other. And terraforming only showed up on each individual game, not both.

It needs to use this framework to expand on the awesome (space combat and free flying to and from planets) and create a compelling story and, you know, have an actual point. This "exploring" crap is crap. It's like someone saying they generated a near infinite amount of apartment complexes. Some are blue, some are green, some have one bathroom, some have two. But after looking around a few, ya get it, ya know? Walls bedrooms, bathrooms, check. We get it. Let's pick one and move it. Focus on that one.
