oh...yeah I live in a country where it's "oh you may be sick, lets run a whole battery of tests plus optional ones if you like" followed by "looks like it's just something simple but you also have low vitamin D, spend more time in the sun but other wise you are fine" and it tops off with a bill of $0.00
only down side is unless your life is in danger or you have an appointment you will probably be there for a few hours, which i'm ok with, I would rather the doctors spend more time on people who are really sick or injured than me when I'm in no immediate danger.
>>696467399
God I love shit like that. Lewds never do it for me really, but this particular image has always been a favorite.
still lurkin

Welcome to the U.S., where they give absolutely no fucks about you, and just want your money. I wish I lived in Canada, it seems so much better in every way.
>>696467696
And that pic has only existed for <2 weeks, but I'm glad you like :)
>>696467901
Canadian fag here, and I can confirm what anon says. It sucks you guys have to pay exorbitants fees for a simple medical treatment :c
>>696467901
Canada is nice but it's not without it's faults, again wait times in our healthcare is a problem, especially if you need an MRI, like, unless you have a brain injury average waiting time for an MRI is like 8 months - 2 years here, it sucks, we also have a problem with doctors moving to the US to make more money but hopefully we can get more of both and smooth things out in the future.
>>696468324
Anecdotal evidence is not applicable, really. He's just with a shit doctor. Also insurance should offer a co-pay, often a full pay depending on what needs to be done.
>>696468351
>doctors moving to the US to make more money
Just reading that makes my blood boil. But at least your country cares about your people, even if you do have to wait ridiculously long for something.
>>696468494
It's a long story, but I'm with a very good doctor. I just don't have insurance.
>>696468351
You won't. The doctors, nurses, nurses aids, etc won't get paid enough by the government to have enough people willing to help staff the place. Especially specialty places that would have an MRI scanner. Plus there would be less equipment. My hospital I worked at had like 4 or 5 MRI machines, which for the size of the hospital was pretty impressive.
>>696468578
yeah our government generally does care, our infrastructure is well maintained and our leaders know they are on a leash held by the people most of the time, like we don't really have set elections (kind of), basically the prime minister will stay in power until the people stop liking them and call an election at any time, like the conservatives did put in a 4 year election cycle but elections can be held at any time and their is not set max limit for the prime minister, so basically they will stay in power as long as they don't piss us off.
Like Harper, he was in power for a while, did stuff that pissed everyone off, election was called, hes now jobless.
>>696468494
I don't know man, I got family living down in the U.S. and this topic always pops out whenever we get to talk. I don't think 60% of the medical personel's shit but expensive as hell. Considering most of the situations where my cousin had to stop at the ICU because of his asthma, the fees are never below a grand or so
>>696468578
Our country cares about it's people, our government doesn't. The Canadian government doesn't either. Up to two years for an MRI is ridiculous. I can schedule one a week from now at the latest. If you need an important scan, you could very well have something hidden away that will kill you before you're ever treated.
>>696468701
Ah, well that will do it. It would be a sound investment to get it. Though I certainly understand it's not as easily done as it is said.
>>696469209
Based Canada. I hope I can move there some day.
>>696469230
That's the ICU. The people who work there generally work incredibly stressful 12-18 hours shifts, and are extensively trained. That training costs money, the schooling costs money, and so the medical personnel earn more respectively.
>>696469366
you can get a next day MRI scan in Canada you just need to pay for it, so getting a next day MRI in Canada is like getting a normal one in the US.
>>696469366
I suppose that is true. It just pisses me off that a country's government doesn't care about its people. I don't understand why the fuck the people don't try to do anything about it.
>>696469689
Hence, it costs more to be treated there. Same reason Neurosurgeons make more than regular surgeons, who make more than traditional doctors, who make more than nurses, etc.
>>696469781
But then you're just getting the same thing you'd get here.
>>696469788
We do. We want smaller government. Well, a lot of us do. It's for that reason. it's just not an easy fight.
>>696470072
yeah, the difference is you can get the MRI for free if you are willing to wait, it's kind of dumb, other countries have more and offer free MRI scans for far shorter waiting periods, if the machines weren't so expensive it wouldn't be that big an issue.
>>696470669
Really, the better solution is better handling of insurance in the US, as opposed to freeing the healthcare. Better access to insurance without making it so bad that it would put insurance companies out of business, etc. The whole subject really teeter's on a razor's edge tbh.
>>696470919
Eh I enjoy universal heath and so does every other developed nation, but like all things in life it's not perfect.
I don't think there is a true perfect system for anything involving large human groups.
gad damn I hate the max file size limitations on /b/
>>696470919
I'd also go for freeing up the pharmaceutical industry as well. It seems the most heavily regulated industries are the most problematic. That can't be a coincidence haha
>>696471319
me too man
>>696471360
yeah, for profit pharmaceutical companies are evil, we have some problems regarding that here as well.
>>696471164
There really isn't. Some folks are going to like one thing, some folk are going to like another. I prefer the american healthcare system because it hasn't fucked me over as of yet. And that's generally how I choose to judge things. If they don't totally bone me, they're innocent enough to me until they do. Obviously, that's not gonna work for everyone else, cause what works for me might ramrod someone else.
>>696471360
oh yeah, no. Pharma is a ridiculous industry and needs to be put in check.
>>696471473
That's why I can't stand universal healthcare. The FDA is already their lapdog, and the pharmaceutical companies are always pushing for it. They know they can rip us all off because the government doesn't care about spending our money. Just look at any other government contract...
>>696471872
my biggest problem is some doctors are payed to push the brand names of some medications instead of the cheaper generic ones, because medication isn't covered here under the base healthcare (insurance covers it however but still).
luckily the times ive been given prescriptions I usually get the generic brands because my doctor is a cool guy. They are working to fix it but it's slow, luckily the conservatives are out so change is actually happening instead of just empty promises.
it was scary for a while there it was looking like Canada was going to turn into a UK conservative clone.
>>696472119
What's up, Rabbie?
>>696472455
hello sexy butt
>>696472119
why hasn't this been edited with Shrek bursting open the door yet?
>ethernet passthrough on docking station broke

this is fucking horrendous
>>696472629
hello Alex
>>696472535
because rabbit is better
>>696472629
Hey Alex, how's it going?
>>696472673
>>696472279
I'm not sure the difference between Canadian Conservatism and American, but to be honest, with all the scandal that's been going around, I've come to hate liberals in the US as of late.I'm about dead center of the political scale, but I would rather lean conservative now.
>>696472750
bought a used g930 to replace my broken one.
And just as I cleaned that out and got it working, gigabit ethernet on my laptop docking station broke so now i have to use wifi like some caveman who's never heard of copper cabling
>>696472860
Well that fucking sucks. Sorry to hear that.
>>696472805
generally Canadian left and right are relatively the same and are far less extreme than US left and right, but the Right here has started getting more extreme as of late.
One of the things that pissed everyone off was a couple years ago the oil companies started paying people off to slow climate research and the result was the conservative party passed legislation that made it illegal for scientists to release info before clearing it with the government first basically muzzling Canadian scientists and restricting information flow to what they deemed appropriate, of course climate science got hit the most as a result and everyone knew it was corporate corruption at the root.
When the Liberals took over one of the firth things they did was shred that legislation and vote it out as it was clearly the result of shady shit.
then our Prime minister bumped a woman with his elbow as he man handled a guy and the woman complained to get attention and it was all rather pathetic as everyone handled it badly.
>>696473087
Well, I don't do much high-bandwidth crap from my PC any way.
If anything I'm just more likely to encounter lagspikes in gaming. because wifi latency
I'm watching MASH for some reason.
>>696473381
>generally Canadian left and right are relatively the same and are far less extreme than US left and right
Well, living with moose must have its calming effects i guess
>>696473381
I guess the bottom line everywhere is two party politics suck.
>>696473601
Moose are awesome, they don't come in the city much but like 30 minute drive west and I can see a large number in the mountains.
>>696473769
yeah pretty much, the idea of multiple parties is good in that it makes a wide array of opinions and discussion but it always turns into childishness when things get serious.
we are more 3 party right now as the NDP and conservatives are pretty even. I like the NDP as i'm technically a democratic socialist and I support them but I voted liberal because they had the better platform and i'm not about vetoing for a party based on political orientation and not platform stability.
>>696474483
I'm generally libertarian myself, but we haven't rally had much luck in regards to elections with that, so I'm leaning conservative this year. Just because the left consistently makes an ass out of itself here.
>>696474733
yeah I feel for you, corruption on both sides and are now facing the 2 least liked candidates in us history due to bias and bullshit. the democrats really screwed up and the Republicans did too little too late.
honestly a Ted Cruse Bernie Sanders race would have been better.
>>696475062
Eh. Bernie doesn't understand how our economics system works. Plus he literally sold his entire campaign down the river for a plane. He only proved himself to be just as corrupt as everyone else. I actually don't mind Trump. I like his give no fucks attitude. Plus he's for smaller government and a military isolationist. If he sticks to his word, he'd have some pretty positive effects. But then, that's just me. And being a Trump supporter, I know a lot of people don't particularly agree with me.
