>>
>>696356264
Red, hands down. If you press the green and get it, you will never gain the satisfaction of earning it. Take the "small sum of a million" and you can easily turn that into a lot more in 5-10 years, thus more satisfaction!

I'd press the green one many times. With 50% chance, it would be very unlikely not getting 100 mi at least once.
>>
>>696360158
You must be white. A million dollars is plenty if you don't spend it like a retard who rented furniture at Rent King or are the kind of person who thinks the only good car is a brand new current year model.
A million dollars could last me more than my lifetime, it would be passed onto my children, and I'd still never have to work a day in my entire life.

You guys do like frivolous meme shit, and that's fine, but you can't pretend it's what normal people purchase on the daily. You don't need to eat out at a restaurant three times a day, you don't need a pool, you don't need four cars for a 3 person household.
>>

>>
>>696360898
$1 million equates to annual income of less than $50K. That's not poverty but it's far from rich. In fact it's the US average.

>>
>>696361288

I could do that with a paid off mortgage and the leftover cash as well though. I'd take the 100% chance.
>>
>>696361727
Utils is nonlinear function of amount of money.
10 million doesn't improve lifestyle by ten times what you would get with 1 million.
So it's red if poor, green if rich.

Considering the fact that I would not be the only one pressing these buttons would mean that there would be a planet wide Great Depression. I would have to use my million quickly and just use it to grow food crops and some cash crops for trade. The effect of generating $1,000,000 and even $100,000,000 for multiple people (and not just a hand full, probably like a few hundred) would destroy the value of the banks which control the value of any modern currency. Basically any non-third world country would be reduced to a third world country possible over the course of a year. We'd have to restart.

Um, the key here is that they blow all of the money. You could live comfortably on 1 million for the next 100 years if you just budget correctly.

This

>they blow through that shit in a couple of years.
No wonder. Massive house, cars, holidays, expensive stuff they don't really need.

It's this mentality that you need all of this over the top stuff that is why people fail to budget correctly.

The classic example is the person who spends a stupid amount of money on the newest igdaget that comes out each year. You don't need it, there are phones out there for under $60 (and cheaper) that'll do the essentials.

Once you move beyond this idea that you need these things, you'll see just how easy it is to make that $1 million stretch easily.

I avoid giving homeless people money most of the time. If I do end up giving, I'll usually ask them what they fancy to eat from a local cafe/shop and buy them a warm drink.
>>
>>696372502
Regarding the phone thing, you can have a modern phone that serves you well without buying one every year but also without living like a luddite with a $60 phone. I had a Note 2 that lasted me almost four years before I had to upgrade it because it stopped working properly.
>>
>>696372502

This

1 million can go far if you just live like you're middle class and not a richfag

Of course you can, I've been using my Nexus 4 for about 6 years now. But I know many, many people who will simply buy the newest iPhone each year, with no valid reason other than "yeah but it has this new feature that I'll use once or twice".

Odds for a hundred mil

the red button

a bird in hand is worth 2 in a bush

push red button: all financial woes solved immediately, right? all debts paid, enough to invest, buy real estate, etc.

button 2:
could end up with nothing

button 2 is greedy

i would only push button 2 if i needed several million to save my life like yesterday and had no other options
>>
>>696359824
Who leaves half a million dollars in a bank savings account..?

No you'd invest it in mutual funds or something, pull more than 1%
>>
>>696356264
Red. With my luck I'd be the 50% that didn't win the 100m.

Plus I'd invest in reality and make 100m over the course of my life regardless.
>>
>>696356264
Green.

Anything above 2.5million I'd click the green button. I get that a million is a lot of money, but not clicking the green button in this case makes you slightly retarded.

And to anyone saying bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.. right. But a bird in the hand is NOT worth 100 in the bush.

so what?

Don't. Just put it into something.

Life's not worth living if you decide "hey, I'm set for life now, I can do nothing interesting for the rest of my life except life frugally."

Just pursue your interests and do something interesting. Make your life worthwhile.
>>
>>696372502

> buy a modest house outright
> buy a modest car

Your still going to be working for the rest of your life with that 1 mil being a safety net.

If you are 50+ right now 1 million is retirement money.
>>
>>696373259
This is why i'd push green. If I lose, I'd be like "damn, guess I'll just have to earn 1M which is easier than earning 100M anyway"

Well if you are not a faggot you can invest the 1 million and possibly have at some point 100 million.

You forgot taxes, or are buying a humble home.

I'd go for green, 1 Mill is so easily spent. (Think 550 after taxes)
Education 100k, Car 30k, Debts 10k, add in family stuff and some medical bills ect.

100mill? >50m taxes, keep 10m~ and give away the rest, it's worth it baby. 5% ret on 1m is a nice income. I took the risk for the betterment of all! Even = green

The point is that we wouldn't be buying $1000 cigars and $20,000 bottles of champagne, or buying super expensive homes that would drain the money quickly because of property taxes, or taking tons of cruises, or travelling all over the world...etc

The cost of living isn't the same everywhere.

I can buy a $20K car and $100K house (which in Ohio is pretty decent). Which would leave $880K. That money could easily be lived off of until I died.
>>
>>696356264

>>
OK NEXT question.

What do you do with the money besides debts, school, cars, family, housing? Any creativity in here?
>>
green, odds
>>
>>696373934
For fuck sake. You can STILL have a worthwhile life with $1million.

You can pay your essentials with some of the interest, you can then save/invest a portion of the rest. You can set aside some for your children (a few grand to get them started in school). You can do so much.

It's kind of sad that people think $1million isn't enough, but I can see why. When companies like Twitter and Jewbook are evaluated at billions of dollars, it makes everything else seem small.

>>

>>
>>696374913
Why would you want to live off 14-15k a year though for the next 60 years, you wouldnt ever be able to get married or have children because you wouldnt be able to afford it.

That is minimum wage in the UK and even if you had a paid off house,
After the usual monthly costs it leaves fuck all.

Its not the life changing amount of money it once was, you couldnt up and leave your job unless you are old or want to live like your on benefits/welfare the rest of your life.

Uh, duh. What I'm saying is to invest it.

These people are saying this exactly: "Now that I have a million dollars, I never have to work again!"

Do you understand how toxic an idea that is? Never have to work again? Do you remember what it was like to have to stay home from school for two days in a row? You go mad.

Make your life worthwhile. Take risks. Do... something.

If you just "never work again" you're choking your own capabilities.
>>
>>696356264
red, i'm an unlucky b'stard and would never live it down if i got nothing
>>
>>696375938
I guess it also depends on if you wanted to actually give up working or not. As odd as it sounds, I enjoy my job and wouldn't mind working it until I had to retire. It keeps me busy during the day, I'm learning new stuff constantly and it can be challenging.

If you just stayed at home, you become stale and lazy. You'd burn through the money as you'd be spending it on things to keep you entertained.

Essentially you could continue to live off of your normal wage and top it up from your 1 mil here and there.

The rest of the money can be invested/saved/given to friends/family etc.
>>
>>696373259
maybe but at least you'd have 1mil and not be broke
