Homeless people don't have food storage, so they can't eat relatively healthily while also having enough to last until you get more foodstamps.

To live in the woods, if you don't have money, you need to make your shelter, make your food storage, and hopefully you'll have a place to make a hobo stove and camp fire.
Even then, you have to deal with the bugs.
