This is an unpopular opinion but imo speed racer is one of my favorite films; it's genuinely a visual spectacle, but everyone hates it before they've even seen it
Hard to get eh?
>no one mentions Shawshank Redemption
I watched this the whole way through, and it's not a movie everyone would enjoy, nor is it god tier, it's one of those "artsy" movies, and in fact is based off of a book, and it does the book poorly, explains nothing, and there's very little dialogue, in fact if it didn't have scarlett in it I would not have watched it for 10 minutes, not god tier at all, but definitely something for people looking for WEIRD AS FUCK movies
>Pursuit of Happiness
Are you fucking serious? This has to be bait.
Y'know I can see how you might be tricked into thinking Avatar is good. It's not though.
But Pursuit of Happiness is definitely in the top 5 worst films I have ever seen. Close to anything with Adam Sandler.
literally the most smartest film iver ever seen
>take an european classic
>twist and reshape it for completely different culture
>add some of your own fucking lunacy
>make it all black and white
i stand alone

interstellar is more like a potential 10/10 flick which fucked up caring about a minimum amount of scientific accuracy - getting worse towards the end.
Good movie, but no god tier to me.
It derails completely and uses science elemnts as "wowz muh SCIENCE!!1" as long as it serves a lackluster cliche-filled "love is all" plot that comes out of nowhere, when the father-daughter relationship was not treated properly at the start and was completely forced by the end.
It's like they were trying for a decent sci-fi film and halfway through Nolan said "hey, wait guys, this is actually about love and how it trascends all dimensions, so let's just finish filming it now".
Ok these are all shit women or dickgirls would like, for fucks sake DRAMA MOVIES? In a god tier movie thread on /b/? Wtf??
well if you look like him you should question some of your decisions in life
>literally the most smartest film iver ever seen
>most smartest film iver ever seen
It really wouldn't take much to be the most intelligent thing you've seen i'm guessing.
Well this post helped me to understand that the people posting in this thread like slow artsy movies, i.e. shit movies, so I'm done here. Worst god tier movie thread ever. I'd rather fucking watch the new ghostbusters than half of this garbage. You think max max fury road and the butterfly effect were bad, but you defend requiem for a dream? Holy fuck /b/. Holy. Fuck.
Movie's are extremely opinionated, but some of my favourites are:
The Green Mile
Yeah I'm a Scorsese fan.
So promising at first, and soooo fucking disappointing at the end. It's like the screenwriter went for lunch somewhere in the middle of the production process and never return, and they gave a script to janitor and asked him to finish it.
>when Jack slips beneath the surface
>not a dry eye
Hell of a movie. One of the best. If not thee best.
Listing some of my favorites
The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)
Lost in Translation (2003) (yes i love this movie fuck you)
Spirited Away (2001)
La Haine (1995)
This Is England (2006)
awful film. couldn't get past the start, my corny detectors were tingling like a motherfucker.
still, your right, I should watch it all the way through before passing judgement. i honestly dont know how it could recover from the shitfest that is the first 30-40 minutes.
anyone who disagrees must be joking. i've watched this film like 8 times and love it everytime.
Oh my god it actually got worse
This isn't a bait thread, please
An aging porn star agrees to participate in an "art film" in order to make a clean break from the business, only to discover that he has been drafted into making a pedophilia and necrophilia themed snuff film.
good picture, i prefer jodorowsky's el topo though, or his most recent picture although i forget the name. i love the western setting of el topo and it just makes a little more sense which elevates it for me.
>guys, I'm bored. let's do something funny.
>ok boss. how about sending a biplane to shoot at the corn field?
>sounds good. we can add some running guy to this.
>... some time later...
>holly shit, guys, can you believe it? we almost got an Oscar for this shit!
Carry Grant was a really good actor, thought
Shut up! It's Daddy, you shithead! Where's my bourbon?
"Contact" did it first
10/10 (not an edgy kid, i'm on my 30s)
chick flick, didn't like it
Dull as fuck. Not recommended
Ambiguous. Catching and boring at the same time
Edgy kid flick
Same as above. Edgy kid flick
this movie is like communism, only pretentious fucks would like it
Booooooring but trippy
Another pretentious film
Trippy and without any sense. Hippie film. El Topo is a little better
a good movie. when Bruce Willis is saying goodbye to his daughter - very moving.
If you currently read/have read sci-fi novels/short stories you'll see that any movie falls extremely short from any literature, so I personally recommend reading, since no sci-fi movie is god tier.
With that said, Primer is good and very short, ewhich is great since you'll start understanding the second or third time watching it.
I personally love Gravity, but it's as far from traditional sci-fi plots as can be, or even "plots" as a whole kek.
For god-tier science fiction, I'd honestly suggest /lit
3 and last shared
i might have to look into books then but not a big reader. i actually watched primer for the first time last week and no idea what was happening but will rewatch sometime soon.thanks dude
Well it depends what you want in a film - if profundity, depth and acting are what you go for I'd suggest films like the Green Mile, Children of Men, Godfather 1/2/3, Calvary etc.
If you want a film for purely entertainment value, things like Avatar, Pulp Fiction, Die Hard, Mad Max, Me, Myself and Irene etc. come to mind.
There's loads more - these are just a few examples off the top of my head.
will you and the rest of the multiple reply faggots kill themselves already
anyone else love this film?
I know, it's short and it's just a self-advertising for some Pole who make it, and there's no plot (unless you read some other Pole sci-fi short story), but damn, it's good one
he has some kind of point but he goes too far with it, there are good films that are being released. it shows that he doesn't have an ear to films that are being released and only sees ads on buses and billboards
time at the movies was good with this cause grill I went with kept touching my dick in the back row whilst the 3 rows in front of us were occupied with teens and some older folks. Came twice; good times.
It will make you smarter and mindfuck you constantly, I hope.
For starting with stories I'd reccomend Asimov's "I, Robot".
You could also start with some excellent YA novels such as the Ender's Game series (Speaker For The Dead, Xenocide...). The "harder" sci-fi stuff will still be pretty similar (actually Xenocide is one dense motherfucker).
see thats the weird thing for me, i absolutely love this film but im not that fond of other wes anderson films (except for the grand budapest hotel which is amazing).
this film in particularly really does speak to me though, i always wanted to do heists and things when i was a kid and the intricacies of the both dignan and anthony are amazing.
An inconvenient truth
Short circuit 2 but not 1
Gay niggers from outer space
Some of us aren't sheep to society and don't believe we should accept someone telling us they sexually identify as a dinosaur or whatever the fuck, they're fucked in the head. Homosexuality I get. That's been around for as long as civilization. Expecting me to call a dude with a penis "she" is not going to happen though, that's fucking stupid.
Please respect Her pronouns fucking cis scum.
great film. hitchcock is truly a master. i love it when he blends his usually formula (not in the negative sense) with a bit of surrealism though, a film like vertigo is amazing.

>I don't agree with homosexuality
that was the topic of conversation. no one cares about your supposedly unique views one transgender people.
and believe me, those views really arent unique so stop patting yourself on the back for not being a "sheep to society"
this thread is about films, so talk about films.
God made the first tranny.
God loves trannys
>God made adam and from adam's rib he made eve.
>eve is made from adam's rib
>adam's rib is from a male, should be a male rib bone
>that turns into a female rib bone
>thus, eve is a transfemale
>the only successful one to date
>assuming everything in the bible really happened
i dont care about the popular opinion on this movie, watched it loads and still find it entertaining as fuck.
You the fucking thread police? Arrest me officer
8/10 i think
I think it was mainly the camerawork that got them the oscar - Handheld camerawork is pretty common now, but for them to keep both the plane and Cary Grant in focus right in front of the camera while moving, that was some next level shit right then. Keeping in mind camera stabilizing software and shit did not exist yet.
I've only seen mirror and solaris but I find them both very new and exciting if slow
Because slow is bad
Man I hate when people reply to posts like this. I don't even bother reading them. Am I going to mouse-over all your links to figure out who you're talking to? No. Is it only me?
I actually like to watch this movie when I'm stoned because then everything in it is so much deeper than it is when I'm sober. It always makes me really reflective about the nature of humans and life.
Now I wanna get stoned and watch it again.
> shitty story
Compared to what? Most other films from that year had abysmal stories by comparison.
> full of holes
Like which? Seriously, I'm curious. I constantly hear people gripe about the movie being shit because it's "full of plot holes", but I've yet to hear of any legitimate ones that can't be explained by what's present in the movie. So please, share with the class.
Actually nasa worked very closely with the team to make sure interstellar was accurate.
I also studies physics and can guarantee it was almost all accurate.
What parts do you find improbable?
Worst part of interstellar is how the dad completely disregarded his son.
I agree with annon and would also like an explanation. Eager for response.
No I love replies like this
I mean, it's not even like the film is faultless. I have my fair share of criticisms with certain parts of the plot.
But, the vast majority of the "plotholes" I hear about are not holes at all as most are explained or at least hinted at in the film.
Most people who complain them have no clue about gravitational fields or soace-time continuums or the 11-dimensions hypothesis. These arent even very advanced topics. Learned these in mid-level university physics.
Theyll probably introduce them.
Once you have the basics you can just buy the next textbook and read it. Theres no need to go into the depths of tedious problem solving to understand the principle.
I won't lie.... probably too lazy to go out and do that. Will just ask professor to explain the theories one day. I'm often able to get professors to sit down and teach me higher level course material out of class when I want to know more.
the tranny bro's did well with this.
watch it on your drug of choice
* * * * stars.
this is one film, i keep thinking back about.
it was an experience. the cinematography, the candid van scenes, scarjo nude dumpyness, the ending! , the biker/boss guy .. goop house..

good choice mate.
You can't be this.
>Protip. no, really, you can't.
Gave me my next youtube vid to watch. Thanks /b/ro. Go treat yourself to something nice today. You deserve it.
this was a great experience.
the different style. the south African mix and analogy to apartheid, good effects and story
This both angers and interests me at the same time
