For normal users, it's not absolutely terrible. They've made some normal tasks extremely difficult though. I should never have to use cmd and powershell to fix Microsoft edge and other core apps which break regularly. Likewise, try editing your remembered wifi networks. Install Linux or hope you never have to do anything but browse and make PowerPoints.

There are multiple websites that show you what to turn off, and gpedit settings (if you have pro)

Use a host file, use website blocking capabilities of hosts file. Block them in your router as well.

All the urls and IPs to block are available online. Some lists are more complete than others, and microsoft changes them all the time, so check frequently. Yes, it's work.. sort of like playing whack-a-mole, but it's fun if you're OCD and autistic
