I think the correlation between happiness and intelligence is U-shaped. With the base of the U (maximum unhappiness) being probably slightly above average intelligence. This Is probably where you're smart enough to acknowledge everything that's wrong with the world, but not smart enough to internalize that it doesn't matter. It's obviously not that simple though, since willpower definitely plays a role in happiness. People who can get themselves to eat healthy and exercise regularly tend to be happier. Does seem like the dumb and the actually highly intelligent tend to be happier than those of us in the middle though.

It isn't easy at all. Reading Eckhart Tolle is a great beginning start. Be careful though, it's EXTREMELY easy to get frustrated if that makes any sense. In a sense he talks about rocks being alive so there's an example as to how ridiculous it will seem a lot of the time. I am not sure why keeping phrasing this question as if happiness is something that can be found. As far as my experience, happiness is often the product of some of our actions.

If you wish to be happy then you only have to maximize the amount of those actions that will lead to the desired feeling. If you start seeing life in this matter, then you are actually taking control of what happens in your life.

Perhaps a good mental exercise would be for you to imagine your hypothetical funeral. The question is: what would you like them to say about you? How would you like to be remembered? Were you in shape? Were you well studied? big family?

If you play with that mental exercise then you will start finding what type of person you'd like to become.

With a little discipline, you can start sculpting your own character and personality.
