I've had lots of fun on DayZ, owned it for about 2 and a half years and have about 500 hours, but the development is quite slow and a little sub-par. Hoping the .60 patch will fix the FPS to some degree, but lots of people have just given up.
If you get Arma 3 you can play similar gamemodes and also have access to other gamemodes and the editor, both in 2D and 3D. Arma 3 will probably overall get you more gameplay and more varied gameplay in a similar vein, especially with the upcoming release of the Apex DLC. Even if you don't actually buy it, you still get a free platform update and a new map

You want Arma 3 rather than SA dude. Trust me - SA is full of fucked bugs, and is very limited in what you can do. Even just Exile alone on A3 is a lot better for variety
