No. European school lunch thread
America literally feeds children prison food.
Well good for you. It's a good thing your school represents all schools, right?
Yea it's worse than prison food all the other meals look better than the ones I had
In middle school they stopped serving beef for a month
The second day of that halal bullshit I saw a story on the news about someone knowingly harvesting and selling diseased beef
Thanks boiling springs
Also I found hair in my food on a regular basis
The student council tried to get them to wear hairnets but it was too expensive
Our principle who ran a fundraiser every month drove a bmw a nice one too heard the vp yelling at her about taking money from the school
I'm not spoiled, I'm just not piss poor with low standards.
No I have a problem with prison food. Nigga I grew up in low water Atlanta, and my mom was either doing temp jobs or was unemployed. Either she's a great cook and can make eggs and grits taste like heaven or you're willing to take what you can get.
Nah dude, that food is fucking disgusting. When I use to go to lunch I wouldn't eat it. I was also to poor to afford to bring my own lunch for a couple years and still didn't eat that shit because I would rather starve.
Not the guy you replied to btw.
Do Americans really eat this shit? Even in Africa we wouldn't give our prisoners food this bad no wonder kids are shooting up schools.
>Do Americans really eat this shit?
Yes, and some even defend it. Our schools are in a sad state, and they can't even get food right. That's saying something.
Then they eat good shit in jail, motherfucker I've made a ketchup sandwich I've been so hungry when I haven't been able to get food. If you're refusing to eat what is in most of these pictures you're special
>motherfucker I've made a ketchup sandwich I've been so hungry when I haven't been able to get food
Nigga you must've struggled hard.
Ever had cereal with water?
>you're special if you can't tolerate feeding children microwavable food, mystery meat, mystery rice, and canned sardines.
Like I said, some people go to great lengths to justify this.
Probably. He justifies serving garbage food to children because he has eaten ketchup and bread before. What a sad boy.
He had an ABC show where he whined and whined and made a shitty attempt to change a school's lunch program.
Associating all who criticize the food with Jamie Oliver makes you a stupid FAGGOT KILL YLOURSELF
I thought this was only in the movies. Over here in California, my elementary, middle, and highschools all allowed you to choose from like a menu and you bought things a la carte.
I'm sure you would enjoy dirt cookies. It doesn't justify serving it to children, it's just a statement about how desperate you are for food.
At least California did something right.
shit that doesn't affect the water too much and vise versa.
Oooh, I got you. I used to put my chips and fries inside my sandwiches and hotdogs.
I made so many gross combinations like ketchup and eggs that my friends couldn't bare it.
i just eat the cereal dry with some OJ or tea. water works too.
they sell giant tubs of powdered tea mix at stores for like 4 dollars. they usually last my entire family about a month.
Can you guys reply to this post? Just need to make sure I'm still alive, thanks in advance
where i come from ketchup and eggs is pretty common. not to gross sounding to me. and yeah i remember putting cheetos in my sandwiches all the time. shit was good as fuck after starving all morning.
He was, but let's not associate everyone who critiques school lunches with him.
Yes. Here's one.
seriously, you should just learn how to cook.
if you can afford ketchup and bread then you can afford actual meals, its just that you lack the knowledge so you are stuck with cereal with water and ketchup bread.
your ignorance regarding food is not proof of the school meals being good, it is more a testament to your desperation and lack of knowledge.
Also.. high schools seem to have more options. Although, they include pizza days and noodles and other items. Young children are fed garbage. It's inconsistent.
if the parents of those kids where civilized or at least somewhat educated they would pack lunch for their kids too considering the tragic excuse for food that is served.
I would not let my kids eat these meals, because I would not want to eat that myself if I had a choice.
I bet there are some decent parents who make sure their kids eat properly in the US too, by sending them to school with lunch they made themselves
>I refuse to believe you
I told you guys Americans will defend their lunches, even though there are countless images of school lunches from around the world that would top ours.
Iunno, I don't think this looks that bad.
We don't really have school cafeterias like this.
How does it work? Is this free?
You can't really complain if it's free food.
If you're paying for it though then that's fucked up
Poor people make the best cooks... Ever the term "peasant dishes"? Some consider them to be the hardist dishes to make because of the lack of prooper ingredients and the skill and ability to improvise.
Here in The Netherlands there is no such thing. You bring your own bread and drinks and you can buy coffee, tea, milk and softdrinks. You can also buy bread and cookies and candy, but never warm meals like the ones on the pics.
Not all Spanish rice is paella. That is an abomination and a poor attempt of cooking Spanish rice.
>Maybe when u pay a fucking chef to make ur food each day in ur fancy faggot privat school
No, some schools actually hire more competent people to work in the kitchens. Some schools have better standards than others. It's mindboggling that some of the most simplest foods has you resorting to dismissing it as "fancy". What have you been eating all your life?
>Im from germany and traveld to diffrent school all over europe u faggot.
Doesn't sound like you've been to any school in general. There are plenty of schools with decent food.
>You can't really complain if it's free food.
Yes, you can. Especially if you're a child with no other options. Furthermore, unless you're a low income child, you have to pay for this. That's a problem.
learn about nutrition, the problem with food here in the US is due to them making a lot of shortcuts that adds extra and in turn excessive amounts of calories, usually through sugar, to the food.
A lot of low fat products sold here sold as better for you have become more unhealthy because they now contain twice the sugar amount and affect your body differently than the other product.
the cheese cake itself might not be that bad, the fries are not bad if they represent one meal a week and are made from real cut potatoes that are deep fried instead of the mcdonalds style fries that are shaped from a potato paste (with added exrtas ofc) in molds to make sure they are all perfect enough for them
Portion your meals and waste the rest.
As if eating that much of such different foods is even palatable. These school lunches are for the pregnant teens and rich school superintendents.
Frozen, pre-made, microwavable, reheated, chemically pumped, processed garbage - What we get when we destroy lands to make way for what big governments would call science. When farm lands are used to produce grains and crops used to make alcohol, potato chips, and ethanol we wonder why students are eating shit, then we wonder why kids can't focus in and out for schools, then we wonder why kids have no energy, then why do kids get fat, and so on and on.
This is what English class is used for in college. you write about these issues and state what you believe the problem is, what causes the problem, and people can solve the problem.
But to no avail , grades keep dropping, and no one proposes a valid argument. Then people designated to read any valid arguments, aren't qualified to make important decisions. And again, and again, and again....and again.... and again....
that looks alright, but the earlier posted meals were all tragic beyond reason.
let me rephrase it then, I would check the food at the school before letting my kid eat there, or make food one of the deciding factors on where they ended up, considering the importance of nutrition and food.
>No, some schools actually hire more competent people to work in the kitchens. Some schools have better standards than others. It's mindboggling that some of the most simplest foods has you resorting to dismissing it as "fancy". What have you been eating all your life?
Mostly selfmade food with all my meat coming from nearby butchers and vegies from a farm 2km away. For School food that stuff is fancy for normal homemade stuff not then i agree that its pretty basic but still good.
Anyway what i tried to point out is that the school that the most kids go to have shit food because they "need" to save money on that.
>Doesn't sound like you've been to any school in general. There are plenty of schools with decent food.
I repeat myself i was in many school around the EU and there are some that actualy care yes but the most like i said before save on it thats why i never ate at my school back in highschool and always made stuff myself cause i could just walk home.
Funny thing is, is that my University goes off of the same program that feeds the state pens and we get served tier two food one up from them out of four... AND we get to pay $7 a meal for it
Growing up in several different American cities/towns as a child, the only kids who ate school lunch were the poor kids who got free school lunches.
Most of us brought our own lunch and once we hit High School we left campus for lunch and used to hang out at the Arcade down the street.
Admittedly I grew up in all upper middleclass neighborhoods. I realize there is a need for better lunches for underprivileged children; but they are mostly nignogs and don't count.
I never knew that alcohol and ethanol were different, i doubt you were referring to butyr, methyl or propyl alcohol, because in laymans terms alcohol is ALWAYS ethylalcohol, ALWAYS!
so you are a poor planner then?
seriously, buy butter instead of ketchup and you have already transformed the same expense into a better spread for your bread and it have a ton of other possible uses, you however decided to buy ketchup like a retard
>European school lunch thread
In eastern Europe you bring your lunch to school. And the food your mom made at home is much, much better than this'prison' food. (If you want to buy shit at school, you can).
Interesting thing, in my country there was a time junky food and sweets were banned from schools.
Shops at schools couldn't sell anything that is not 'fit'. There were only apples, milk, sandwitches with salad etc.
But it was so stupid (like 90% of our government's ideas) that they removed this ban. Kids were bringing sweets & unhealty food from home, who could expect that!?
BTW our society isn't even fat.
Do you eat a fucking bottle of ketchup in one serving? when I made that the bottle was a month or two old.
I didn't go out and purchase ketchup and bread for a meal, I had a few slices left some ketchup and no money. This thread has shown me the average /b/tards fucking IQ
Presentation is bad on that one, but the food could be good. Hamburger meat, corn, potatoes, gravy. Each inherently ingredient quite good in their own right. The only way to make that taste bad if to fuck up the seasonings on a massive way, or use spoiled ingredients.
So if you say that food is bad, you're being a drama queen.
Others are just born unlucky.
Like infants who have nothing to eat growing up under nationalist extremist uprisings and political revolutions.
Families who work for less than a dollar a day to pay for food brought to their homelands (by manipulated leaders and their armies) that were once habitable until flipped by foreign industries to dig for resources that make your phones work and your cars move.
I disagree. Even in our current state we're still #1.
"But sir, how could it get any better? If you're on top, how could you possibly go any higher?"
We'll make more floors. We Trump Towers now.
Not in this EEU country, you could buy all sorts of shit from the cafeteria ranging from apples to snickers bars and energy drinks, from 30 people in a classroom, only 1 of them was fat/obese, the rest were average or skinny and the food didn't taste like shit, it was actually half decent.
Actually pancakes and ketchup is aight...iam not talking about pouring the shit over the cakes. But maybe slide across the yolky ketchupy remains of your entree and its not bad.
I always complained about the school lunch here in Sweden. After looking at your lunches, I'm more thankful for what I got (for free).
>meanwhile in Scotland
YOU DONT PUT FUCKING CORN IN MINE AND TATTIES REEEEEEEEEEEÉ
what make you think you are at the top?
I mean, if I could choose what country to be born in but not what social status I would get in said country, the US would not be high on my list of choices, because the chances of me having a good and successful life would be higher in one of the top countries in Europe.
how is the US better?
It's an advert for the container not the food, of course it's not real, fuck, all the newfriends that feel the need to point out the obvious and fall for all the bait
My high school was in the middle of the city. You just could go out at noon (with permission of parents) and buy whatever you desired that day. Life was good once
fuck you cunts, here in nz we have a boxed lunch from home that we've made ourselves since we were 8 years old, usually some shit like a vogels sandwich with marmite and cheese and if we're lucky some fuckn ready salted chips
youre dumb to believe they actually cook it. Most schools buy frozen package buns, "hamburger" meats and fries. The most homecooked stuff they'll give you are like pot pies or spagetti
Exactly the fucking issue. Then add production, transportation, and consumption rate.
Location and tax payer spending. Population. Lending and borrowing. Housing rates. Then manage with low, middle, and high income habits. Test statistics. Unemployment. Not even close to naming everything that is the everything that goes into why shit is the way it is.
but still, the argument is not that all places should replace cheap shrimp with expensive prawns, but that the food in general could be decent and even good, they are just evidence that you can serve real food to the kids.
What specifically should end up getting served would ofc have to vary depending on location and what options that are affordable.
hence why there are multiple examples
>someone who's that theyve never been poor in their life
Not the ketchup sandwich poster but
Life is shit sometimes, and literally all you have sometimes is ketchup and shitty bread
Its not a bad thing that you've never been that poor and actually you're lucky but,
Shit a struggle for some of us
Thats a pizza ladies and gentlemen.
$2.50 for that.
If you'll notice, there's "stuffed crust" which is just string cheese stuffed into a hole. Not even melted.
as a former correctional officcer i can confirm this prison food isnt bad unless you piss off the cooks but luckily on those days theyd warn me if someone shits or pisses in the soup
No, there's not a big difference, as long as ethanol is not denaturated it's drinkable!! All you'd need is some fermented mash and a distill and you can brew your own pure ethanol, it's not rocket science, heck, it's not even basic chemistry, every alcoholic beverage can be distilled in to pure ethanol. And yes, I've had 95% alcohol and I've also drinked it, it burns in your mouth and throat, but that's why you drink it with a citrusy non alcoholic beverage to neutralize it's burn.
Because it's cheap and schools can't afford to pay for what parents and students can't if schools want to keep funding programs that parents and students want that can promote better grades and thus better funding from the local, state, and federal government that is ultimately funded by tax payers and these decisions are made through popular consensus by the President upon tackling these problems of no money which is because jobs aren't hiring (the right people obviously), college is too expensive, debt is crippling, and big business branches out to other countries around the world to offer more jobs and make more money for themselves that only a fraction of still remains in America and even that fraction is paid in tax collection, then repaid at the end of the fiscal year and spent on capitalist shit by products that these same business create. So fucking complex and angering. Hard to get through.
you're full of shit, I'm poor and I do own ketchup, but if I am short on money I will buy rice and potatoes etc before I get another bottle of ketchup.
If I was even poorer I would never have ketchup because I would be forced to buy food instead
if you have never made a budget then I suggest you do, that is the only way I can picture someone finding themselves in that situation, and then it is their own fault.
But that's the point. It doesn't need to be homecooked. The ingredients are good enough that even frozen "meat" is pretty good. They are so basic and simple screwing it up would be a challenge. It's like sugar. Making it sweet is pretty easy to do.
It could be boxed mashed potato flakes, canned corn, package/instant gravy, and 80% "pink slime" frozen meat and be pretty good.
And to think you could get an awesome Little Ceasers pizza with mozzarella and muenster cheese, made fresh daily and with fresh herbs, for only $5.00. They even caramelize the cheese if you ask them.
>100% agree. People will do anything to make America look bad, including Americans. It sho is lonely at the top.
You guys find it hard to fathom anyone serving children appetizing food. That's pretty pathetic.
Expenses vary on certain foods to make up for transportation and preservation costs which is, like you said, according to location. Never tried prawns. I would have shot up my school for them to serve shrimp just once.
Nah man, you're looking at it the wrong way. Having shitty meals growing up means you appreciate the good ones that much more. And when you have a bad one, you aren't as upset as someone who had good food his whole life would be.
Anecdotal evidence. There are many more schools than the ones you have gone to.
From experience, that's not likely the case. The food is as unappetizing as it looks. In many of these photos the problem is clear. Fish slapped between a bread roll, for example.
>who the fuck could afford that. If you can afford a lunch like that you are one of the people who hire teachers to come teach your kid to your own house.
Rice and some meat is not as expensive as you think. The problem lies with our public schools and their lack of funding, not in the schools in other countries who actually care about what they serve children.
Its not that we dont want it to happen its just that about 80-90% of school just serve shit to save money. Every school that actualy servers decent food does it right but its just that most dont.
I'm 6' 200 pounds and I only eat once a day when I get home from work. It never made sense to me that we eat 3-4 times a day. People act like they starving if lunch is late. Do you really thing the body runs out of energy if it can't eat every 3 hours?? Doesn't make sense. The three meal a day standard is propaganda.
Behold, a swedish hospital dinner! The pinnacle of government oppression against the tax payer.
