I don't know.
I've lived for 23 years and I have nothing to show for it.

Please tell me I'm not the only one like this. So afraid of failure that I just haven't contributed my life to any cause.

It's okay, anon. It doesn't matter if you have no 'cause' or whatever. Just by being friends with people, by forming bonds with others or even smiling at strangers on the subway, you make some difference to their lives, just as they make one on yours. Humanity is a gift and by being a human we create good times together.

Ha, cheers man. Our vocalists a real chill guy; he plays a lot of acoustic stuff too so that helps.

>>680238998
Again, thanks! We're just really bad at promo really; we're all spread outover the country atm due to Uni, so we've got no real following/time for music. Would be sick to get signed though. Thanks for the kind words man!

I go to interesting places and capture the sound as best I can. I put a lot more effort into it than it might seem. It's like the difference between someone taking a snapshot on the why by a statue and a photographer catching it just right for NatGeo or something. I'm looking to preserve something special and/or magic about places.

I create music. The band is going through some tough times right now though. Our guitarist is getting sued for $35,000 for a car crash he got in that involved breaking a persons arm. We're kicking out the singer and rhythm guitarist due to some complications. We've got material if anyone is willing to take a listen. I'm the drummer btw. Rock on everyone \m/

Feedback would also be nice

not really. i top and tail the tracks so none of the sounds i make at the start and end are in there and i sometimes i have to EQ rumble out (wind, etc) especially when I use the omni mics, which are very sensitive to low frequencies. other than that it's totally honest, just normalized for level. i don't do any mixing or layering or anything surreal like that - it's all exactly what happened as it happened. now that i've got my rig up to professional scratch (took a long time to save-up for each component) i don't even denoise anymore or anyting like that

This is sick as fuck, its like a feeling I feel but can't put into words, but you were able to make shape of it with sounds

Thanks, man
>>
Im in an active band here in Dallas primarily. we just recorded our first album with a well known band that produced it so weve been excited about that. odd thing is, the more productive I am creatively the more I feel that im not doing enough artistically to satisfy myself. Im thinking about writing short stories and possibly trying stand up comedy just for shits.
>>
>>680248683
DO it, man! If you've got the energy and will power, go for it! Fuck, do stand-up before your gigs. Lots of UK punk bands used to (and still do) get comedians as support acts. It makes for a great night, 'cause punk can feel too seroous sometimes so it balances out a show nicely. Got any music for us?

it can be done!

Thanks, I don't get as much time to work as I'd like but I've got the bug so whenever possible I run home for a weekend to burn some metal.

>>680251164
Thank you. If you have the opportunity (or more importantly the time) it's super easy to get into, just look up brake drum forges on youtube for a good starting point and don't worry about having the "proper" anything, all you need is some heat (even wood with some air burns hot enough for a workable temp) a solid surface to hammer on, and a hammer (i would not recommend a claw hammer though).

This is the forge I started with, I have since upgraded since I know I'll stick with it.

yeah, trust me, I'm always on the lookout for a decent priced 100-150lb wrought Iron or Steel faced anvil, but antique shops, pickers, and the economic hell of ebay have inflated the price to unreasonable levels. Anything more than $3/lb is a ripoff but I see terrible condition Peter Wrights going for 6$/lb.

>>680253308
Making crucibles out of steel is unadvisable!
Eventually the bottom burns out and whatever metal you have in there falls into the bottomg of your foundry.

I'd like to say I do writing - but I've been working on the same project for years and to be honest I'm not sure if I'll ever actually shoot for publishing because I don't think there'd be a market for it.

But I do make a contribution, it's small and not really at all that interesting but it is my own.

I make coffee. I don't mean I'm some asshole hipster trying to shove a frappuccino down your throat. I mean I REALLY make coffee. I've spent years learning what the perfect angle and seconds at which to pour a shot of espresso. I can steam milk that will hold its density for hours instead of falling apart after the first ten seconds. I can answer any and all coffee questions you might have. You want sugar in that coffee? I'll caramelize that shit to perfection. You want a dry cappuccino? That motherfucker will float. I know the best brewing methods and temperature so that the coffee doesn't taste like burnt shit. My free pour game is fucking insane. Every little trick in the book I know and can do it better.

I've done and do other things with my life, but from time to time if I have the time I like to return and pick up a part time cafe position. There's something that just feels good about perfecting a craft, even if it's something stupid.

>There's something that just feels good about perfecting a craft, even if it's something stupid.
man you got that right. the sign of a completely pointless life is sucking at everything along the way. i worked at macy's for awhile and this chick there could sort and fill a clothing rack, in order from S to XL, like nobody else. you'd have to see it to know what i mean but it was something you could just watch. i would say she's someone who's going places, even if she just stays at macy's filling stock. it suddenly becomes worthwhile if all you do is actually care about what you're doing.
