When you guys aren't just consuming shit - tv, music, internet, videos, memes, etc., what are you creating? What do you contribute /b/, what do you bring into the world?
Good fucking question, anon.
I like to think that I create positivity by listening to people. I also write shitty metal msuic in my bedroom and I'm also a researcher in training.
To be honest,
I don't know.
I've lived for 23 years and I have nothing to show for it.
Please tell me I'm not the only one like this. So afraid of failure that I just haven't contributed my life to any cause.
Fuck, man. Aight. I haven't got any bedroom stuff up on soundcloud yet, but you can have my band if you like? I'm bassist in the band btw, and 'Nioses' was my baby.
It's okay, anon. It doesn't matter if you have no 'cause' or whatever. Just by being friends with people, by forming bonds with others or even smiling at strangers on the subway, you make some difference to their lives, just as they make one on yours. Humanity is a gift and by being a human we create good times together.
The Vocals in the audio is a bit quite for my taste, but it sounds fucking sick.
How did you not end up getting signed? Surely someone out there would pay for that (I sure as hell would)
Again, thanks! We're just really bad at promo really; we're all spread outover the country atm due to Uni, so we've got no real following/time for music. Would be sick to get signed though. Thanks for the kind words man!
I go to interesting places and capture the sound as best I can. I put a lot more effort into it than it might seem. It's like the difference between someone taking a snapshot on the why by a statue and a photographer catching it just right for NatGeo or something. I'm looking to preserve something special and/or magic about places.
I create music. The band is going through some tough times right now though. Our guitarist is getting sued for $35,000 for a car crash he got in that involved breaking a persons arm. We're kicking out the singer and rhythm guitarist due to some complications. We've got material if anyone is willing to take a listen. I'm the drummer btw. Rock on everyone \m/
Feedback would also be nice
That. Is. Beautiful. You just earned yourself a sub. Such an amazing endeavour; capturing that which is so transient an impermanent. Very zen. Respect.
I'll check this out man! Hope the suit goes well.
Sure it does! Post some, anon.
Talk about eargasms! The channel (if it's yours, I assume it is) is nice!
I rather enjoy the sounds of nature and it is hard to find good quality audio like this not shot from a potato. Keep it up!
Best of luck to your band, my friend got signed only for their vocalist thinking he was 'above them' and left before anything big could happen.
Cheers, man. Sorry to hear about that though; some singers can be real ego-centric. Fortunately ours is humbled 'cause he has to play guitar aswell so he can't go all "stage dick head" mode.
I only got one on me right now and it was from a while ago. Also did a Claymation test thing I will see if I can convert to a manageable size here.
I am aware I need to make the lines a bit more cleaner. Marker and colored digitally
make websites for small businesses and made a game that people enjoy but not many people know about
I make satirical videos and other generic Youtube shit. I dunno, I'm sure my team & I fall in the "cancerous" genre.
here are some steam keys if anyone is interested
I 3D model, im the head of my school newsletter, i do porn, I create free textures for high poly rendering, I am a student head at the Brevard School Boards in Florida, I drafted a religion i hope to sell to a friend of mine in india and I also spread the hate of nigger scum.
yeah you should be selling these. i fucking love it
well you're prolific anon
not really. i top and tail the tracks so none of the sounds i make at the start and end are in there and i sometimes i have to EQ rumble out (wind, etc) especially when I use the omni mics, which are very sensitive to low frequencies. other than that it's totally honest, just normalized for level. i don't do any mixing or layering or anything surreal like that - it's all exactly what happened as it happened. now that i've got my rig up to professional scratch (took a long time to save-up for each component) i don't even denoise anymore or anyting like that
AHHHHH FUCK YEAH
This is what I've been trying to make
Your guitarist has an interesting style, the layering thing I love, along with what sounds like delay
From a drummer to a drummer, practice your singles a bit more, they could use some tightening. Other than that, everything is muy bueno, good feel.
I hope you guys make it big and make more music!
Thanks, anon. Here's another one.
Anyone else here do digital art? Interested in seeing if there's people who use Black Ink or Photoshop
I hang around on the DrawThreads a lot and draw mainly porn cause that is all anyone on there wants.
I'm also in the middle of my Tattoo Apprenticeship.
But I try to paint or create at least one thing in my own time once a week as an outlet.
I record music alone in my basement, and have been doing it for a few months now.
Tell me how it sounds, this is for you guys especially.
Headphones are good.
have you tried looking to work with other people to get footing on a basic first step? I'd probably try to get a small group of people whether offline/online and have each person add a piece to a whole and everybody reviewing each other's contribution then having a final once over for simple mistakes/rework.
>from a beginning animator
Modern art. Rich and pretentious retards suck each other's ass.
This is emotionalas fuck. I'm in love with the droning ambience. Listen to Sigur Rós if you haven't before.
Keep making that music, and one day emerge from your basement and fill valleys with your music like you're meant to.
I completely agree, but you should know that traditional painting is almost completely obsolete due to this and the fact that no one even goes to museums. You should consider getting a tablet, art has pretty much moved to VFX, modeling and digital painting.
I just wanted to thank you guys for the good discussion. Life isn't so good to me right now but I feel inspired after seeing your individual talents and hobbies. Tomorrow I'm gonna try shit and see if I am decent at anything.
Thanks and good luck with whatever you want to do anons!
You go anon! give yourself like a small schedule. I used to do 30 minutes of drawing, 30 minutes of guitar and then about an hour of modeling everyday and it gives good results. The only thing between you and artists is experience.
I forge metal into useful tools and weapons. This summer while I'm home from College I'm going to try to spend as much time forging and smelting/casting as possible. It's the only thing I can actually say I love doing.
>Implying authenticity and objectivity sustain one another.
In your opinion, art has gone down.
>I told myself I wouldn't do this anymore. No more arguing on /b/.
I'll believe my thing, you believe yours. Let's recognise eachothers narratives and agree to disagree.
I make films. Help me get funded bros so I can contribute to the world.
No need to register for voting. Can vote on multiple devices once a day!
Im in an active band here in Dallas primarily. we just recorded our first album with a well known band that produced it so weve been excited about that. odd thing is, the more productive I am creatively the more I feel that im not doing enough artistically to satisfy myself. Im thinking about writing short stories and possibly trying stand up comedy just for shits.
DO it, man! If you've got the energy and will power, go for it! Fuck, do stand-up before your gigs. Lots of UK punk bands used to (and still do) get comedians as support acts. It makes for a great night, 'cause punk can feel too seroous sometimes so it balances out a show nicely. Got any music for us?
We have alot of punk influence. Yeah I would like to do a different kind of outlet aside from the blasting amps and bloody hands (which I love)
probably my favorite song of ours
It's probably because my laptop is garbage, but in the tutorial I got stuck looking up at the sky. My laptop was running too slowly to figure out if it was just one of the controls that I was unaware of causing that. I need to upgrade.
Nice one! Definitely do the standu-up before playing! Especially if you;ve got a strong message in your lyrics; make a theme of it in the comedy. Loving the song, man. Like a MUCH harder/heavier Misfits!
I don't really go on /diy/ but I might visit now
the only picture I have on me is of a cleaver I recently finished.
one of my friends did this. she's a shy PhD biology student and one days she was like "i think i'm gonna do stand-up". and holy shit, like 2 years later she's doing big gigs for big laughs and writes comedy columns for a national news organization.
it can be done!
To those out there using soundcloud, if you care to gain followers, become more active in the soundcloud community. Follow small artists who you actually appreciate because chances are that they'll appreciate what you do too. Give other artists mindful feedback. Nobody will see your music if you put it up and just disappear.
Im a bit shy myself despite bashing my guitar and hollering in front of strangers in dive bars tons of times. I love the idea of getting up on stage with a mic and having to perform. I love that anxiety.
Is it a contribution if what I do is photograph beautiful girls?
Thanks, I don't get as much time to work as I'd like but I've got the bug so whenever possible I run home for a weekend to burn some metal.
Thank you. If you have the opportunity (or more importantly the time) it's super easy to get into, just look up brake drum forges on youtube for a good starting point and don't worry about having the "proper" anything, all you need is some heat (even wood with some air burns hot enough for a workable temp) a solid surface to hammer on, and a hammer (i would not recommend a claw hammer though).
This is the forge I started with, I have since upgraded since I know I'll stick with it.
Thanks anons. Much appreciated!!
Yeah man, I want at miniature anvil, other than that I'm probably going to make a fire extinguisher crucible. If anything I want to mold milbro style slingshots and forge knives.
Armyfag. Not much but it's something I've actually kept doing and not given up on unlike most other things in my life. Gonna get the fuck out as soon as my contract is up though and just further my education.
nice. i hope it works-out for you. my dad did the same thing
You got my vote mr president.
yeah, trust me, I'm always on the lookout for a decent priced 100-150lb wrought Iron or Steel faced anvil, but antique shops, pickers, and the economic hell of ebay have inflated the price to unreasonable levels. Anything more than $3/lb is a ripoff but I see terrible condition Peter Wrights going for 6$/lb.
Making crucibles out of steel is unadvisable!
Eventually the bottom burns out and whatever metal you have in there falls into the bottomg of your foundry.
Try graphite, order online, very cheap.
If I actually tried the thread would 404 before I was done. Sorry for shit handwriting.
thx man, gonna disapoint you because i know virtually nothing about pink floyd
good the intuos is honestly all you need under the price range of like 3000$, anything else than a touch screen/pad is useless so keep that tablet instead of getting a better one. Here's another drawing
haha thx man, any style/medium you prefer?
Ink and graphite. I'm this guy.>>680244880
I'd like to say I do writing - but I've been working on the same project for years and to be honest I'm not sure if I'll ever actually shoot for publishing because I don't think there'd be a market for it.
But I do make a contribution, it's small and not really at all that interesting but it is my own.
I make coffee. I don't mean I'm some asshole hipster trying to shove a frappuccino down your throat. I mean I REALLY make coffee. I've spent years learning what the perfect angle and seconds at which to pour a shot of espresso. I can steam milk that will hold its density for hours instead of falling apart after the first ten seconds. I can answer any and all coffee questions you might have. You want sugar in that coffee? I'll caramelize that shit to perfection. You want a dry cappuccino? That motherfucker will float. I know the best brewing methods and temperature so that the coffee doesn't taste like burnt shit. My free pour game is fucking insane. Every little trick in the book I know and can do it better.
I've done and do other things with my life, but from time to time if I have the time I like to return and pick up a part time cafe position. There's something that just feels good about perfecting a craft, even if it's something stupid.
Ink is great, we have something in montreal called "en masse" where artists draw random plac cartoons together it's great, do you usually do heavy silhouettes or just really fewer lines but many?
Thank you good sirs
I'm trying not to judge, but I respect your passion.
Those are cool and would make solid stencil art. Yeah, I do heavy silhouettes and outlines from a style of cartoon I watched growing up. But my over minimal style is based on a painter named Josh Agle.
>There's something that just feels good about perfecting a craft, even if it's something stupid.
man you got that right. the sign of a completely pointless life is sucking at everything along the way. i worked at macy's for awhile and this chick there could sort and fill a clothing rack, in order from S to XL, like nobody else. you'd have to see it to know what i mean but it was something you could just watch. i would say she's someone who's going places, even if she just stays at macy's filling stock. it suddenly becomes worthwhile if all you do is actually care about what you're doing.
got an artstation and things like that, for all my art including photography but i won't post it here sorry, it's for my career really don't wanna post it on 4chan, also no probs man keep drawing
That's some SOLID water color. The blends must have been HARD.
I have it entering at about 1.5" above the inside floor and it blows at about a 20 degree horizontal angle, but the fitting does have a tendency to shift into a slightly upward direction.
I'm using a 1" diameter pipe
