Trick is to blur the blemishes, but then restore the highlights. Check out the lips for example. The original lips were chapped beyond belief. Easy to blur that using Photoshop, but most people then stop, leaving the image flat. Add some highlights (I overdid it a bit) to make it stand out. Same with the cheeks, forehead, and nose.
