Have medical questions? General questions? Ask Dr. Chan. Yes, I'm a real doctor. If you put your age, sex, and meds you're on, it'll expedite the process. I take payment in the form of amusing pics. Keep the thread bumped if you want an answer. I don't mind if you chime in with advice, but don't be a twat and pretend to be me.
>>606347387 I smell like shit People always sniff when I'm around all the time, the weird thing is I can't smell myself nor can my family and doctors I've taken some antibiotics so i think they are the root of the problem , any ideas?
How should I deal with my gender dysphoria? I'm 18, and thus still young. However, I am unsure if I want to go so far as a full operation, (mostly due to the expensive cost.) Should I consider some hormone therapy? some estrogen?
>>606348028 For the love of god, I'm extremely hygienic mainly because of this problem, I've had it for 3 yeas now I just woke up and everyone seemed to be allergic to me,, it's hard to living where everyone thinks you're paranoid but you know its real
>>606347911 Use Preparation H. There is a cream form of it and the applicator probably makes it a lot easier to use than aloe vera. Plus, it will shrink your blood vessels and lessen the bleeding. Aloe isn't going to do much. Get it at any pharmacy.
>>606348178 Your psychologist says drugs are a bad idea? Switch psychologists. That is a psychiatrist's decision. Also, first line therapy for anxiety is SSRIs (like citalopram), not the benzodiazepines (like Xanax) that people are so fond of. Also, booze will make your anxiety worse over the long run, anon. Please try to quit or at least cut down. You can do it.
I mostly use suppositories at this point as they make the bleeding go down quite a bit. I don't strain to shit and my body isn't in pain (neither is my asshole) so I'm pretty much just experiencing rectal blood issues.
I have for many months, and nothing else is wrong with me. I literally have no symptoms aside from that - and it goes down when I use suppositories.
I'll try PH if this treatment fails. If all else fails I'll go to the doctors, but medical and economy issues in the U.S. are a nigger.
>>606348968 You're going to have to explain more, anon. >>606349029 Immensely. The bacteria on your skin eats the sweat that comes out of your armpits. If you use antiperspirant, they have less to eat, and you will smell less badly. Works on feet, too.
>>606348996 I think social anxiety is a decent guess. Have you ever talked to a medical professional about it? It makes sense to get a diagnosis so you can get appropriate help, anon. Don't worry. Doctors deal with this kind of stuff all of the time. It won't be as bad as you think.
>>606348442 I was 15 when I first started crossdressing. I didn't think much of it, I just saw it as a costume to make sexy times sexier. But then I ended up really liking how it felt. Not even in a sexual way, but it just felt... right, somehow, to be girly, and a girl. I started to switch back and forth regularly, and saw "girl time" as a sort of vacation, like a vacation from my own self. Nowadays I still switch back and forth, and genuinely feel like I am either gender, depending on what time it is.
>>606349860 because I feel like it should be the next logical step. I have a slightly girly build, but it still looks boy-ish. It is fine when I feel like a dude, but when I feel like a woman, it's off-putting.
>>606349657 No problem, anon. >>606349674 Then, please, get another doctor. I know that 'Muricans have the reputation of throwing drugs at everything, but when a doctor simply will not give meds... that's simply not right. Get a second opinion, OK, anon?
>>606350028 I'm just going to play a little devil's advocate, OK? I'm just trying to probe your mind a bit to understand. If you go on hormones, won't they make you feel weird when you want to be a man? Why does one have to take "the next logical step?" If a guy and a girl live together, should they just get married because it's the next logical step or can they just live happily as is?
>>606347387 Hey doc, 20 year old male here, on no meds. Here lately (the past few months) I've been taking a lot of large shits. Used to be I'd pop one every other day, now its two or three times a day. The only thing that worries me is I don't eat that much, and it seems to be more or less the same going in as comes out. Should I be worried? Modify my diet? Etc? Will post rest of set to keep thread bumped.
>>606350272 I am from America. That's why I said it because one could say that just because I'm American I think everyone should be on drugs. My suggestion? Go to a doctor. One who can prescribe medicine. And get a second opinion, OK?
>>606351052 No pain, no cramps, nothing of that nature. College cafeteria food, so varied. Though I often will eat a whole bowl of spinach given the chance, but it seems to not do anything to my shits one way or the other.
>>606351338 I'd avoid benzos because they're not much fun to come off of if you take them regularly. I have nothing to gain by lying to you, anon, and I also know what I'm talking about when it comes to meds. I know people tell you bad things about medicines, but they have helped a lot of people. But you won't know until you try. Please, anon. Talk to another doctor.
>>606351403 If it doesn't hurt you or cause big problems, I wouldn't worry about it. Your poop is almost entirely composed of bacteria (although fiber will make you poop more), so it's not necessarily proportional to how much you eat. I'm glad you're taking an interest in your health, but I wouldn't worry.
>>606351437 It sounds like your blood vessels are dilating a lot when you're about to have an orgasm. I can't really tell what's going on without seeing you and running tests. Insulin is a pain in the ass like that. Just tell your doctor at your next visit, OK?
Glands right under my jaw line, under my mouth have been swollen for past 3 days. Not as sore to touch now. Nose has been more blocked with mucus and more blood than usual? Any advice? Was going to go for a check up but decided against it. 18 y/o
>>606353588 You may have a cold or a sinus infection or throat infection. However, if it's getting better, I generally tell people not to worry about it. If it gets worse, go to the doctor. It's usually not a big deal unless the lymph nodes are swollen for more than a week or two.
>>606354602 Yes, the ring. Poor guys were pretty embarrassed. If your scalp is a little flaky, it's not dry. You probably have mild dandruff. Try Head and Shoulders shampoo. Also, you should wash it every other day (more if you're greasy). People think that "washing every day will make it more oily." Not true. Your body doesn't have "oil receptors" that will say "hey, there isn't enough oil up here!" Your skin makes oil as a result of what's happening internally. Too hot, hormones, etc.
Girlfriend had a yeast infection the week before her period. Got one pill to take for it mid week perscribed, and one more to take just in case. This was on thursday of last week and she took it that day, second one that monday. We tried to have sex (we haven't for a month and are both pretty anxious to relieve tension) but whilst foreplay went on she said it hurt and we stopped. We are both pretty frustrated. It has now been 5 days since she took the second pill. Is it safe for us to have sex yet?
Something else, ever since I can remember I've had small, almost pimple like things dotted over my arm. Not obvious to an observer, but little raised portions. When squeezed, they push out pencil tip sized hard lumps.
I get a slight phlegm buildup at the back of my throat from time to time, along with a lot of gas coming up. Also, the back of my hands get really, really dry. Though not always at the same time. What do? Eat more fruit?
>>606347387 So, hey, is it really true that dehydration increases blood alcalinity preventing the metabolization of carbonic acid, which is the rate-limiting factor for the production of serotonin from 5-hydroxltriptophan and dopamine from levodopa? Cause that'd mean that coffee causes depression.
>>606356074 You're welcome. >>606356126 Good question. I think the prevailing school of thought is that it's not the caffeine in coffee that makes you poop. Some compound that releases gastrin or something like that.
>>606347387 i removed my IUD today with a pair of sterilised pliers. came out nice and smooth and easy because I'm menstruating. how does that make you feel? i will post pics shortly, just charging battery now
>>606356343 Alright, I'll give it a shot. Any advice for plantar warts past going to the doctor to get the fucking thing doctored off? I've tried cutting it out, that Dr. shoals thing, heating metal and pressing it on, using the freeze away thing for far too long, nothing.
>>606356328 I don't think there's a cream for that. Can you go back to the doctor, anon? I think you should... this sound like a bretty bad situation. I'm sorry, but I can't be a lot of help on this one. There's too many factors and not enough tests I can look at.
>>606347387 34, male, I take HCTZ/losartan for hypertension, and xanax. Major league alcoholic (the xanax is legit prescribed but I only use it during the work day to stave off alcohol withdrawal) and I'm wondering what symptoms might indicate organ damage from drinking. Been at it heavily for about fifteen years.
>>606356799 chequed Any meds or medical conditions? Do you have stomach pain or any acid taste in your mouth when you burp? As far as your hands go... do you wash them a lot? Do you drink enough water? Do you drink?
>>606356910 Your body has evolved to efficiently reuse the same molecules over and over again in different places. You have serotonin receptors in your stomach and in your brain. If I give you drugs that stimulate serotonin receptors, they are specific enough to not cross over. tl;dr your body is not a test tube
I don't burp very much. It just...doesn't happen. Only very rarely do I touch the booze, but I always wash my hands after the toilet and before meals. That got drummed in at a very early age. Some days I don't drink enough water...but today was not one of those days, and it's flaring up something nasty. Also, I've found that rubbing in moisturiser only tends to make it worse.
>>606358676 What are you on selegiline for? That's uncommon at your age. If you started doing cardio for 30 minutes 5 days a week, I'd say it'd take you 3 months to get your heart rate down significantly. Kind of depends on how heavy or out of shape you are.
>>606347387 I have this lump in my left thigh on the inside, and is painful to the touch, had it since highschool. only had broken arms so beyond that nothing else physical happened to me beyond chickenpox
>>606359079 Hydration is not a day to day thing in the sense that water today will make your hands less dry today. You need to be hydrated for two weeks straight (or so) before you'll really start seeing the effect. Try this: buy a cheap pair of gloves and a thick hand cream. Before bed, put a very thick layer of cream on (Eucerin is a good brand) , then put the gloves on. Sleep. After a few days you should see a difference.
>>606359140 People really like to take supplements for diseases, don't they? I wouldn't take more than 600 mg daily without having your levels checked. Magnesium toxicity, while rare, is bad news. If you go to the doctor, they can prescribe you higher levels, but they'd do a quick blood test.
>>606359698 Hmmm... initially I would have guessed your symptoms sound like orthostatic hypotension, but it's strange that simply turning your head makes it worse. Do you get dizzy when you stand up randomly?
>>606359705 Don't worry about it, anon. Porn isn't very realistic in any sense. It's not strange to have yellow-tinged cum. Unless you have some sort of pain or other problem relating to it, you're fine.
>>606360328 Man, that's dangerous, anon. You really got a doctor to prescribe that for you? I'm guessing the drug has something to do with it. I'd go off of it and see if your heart returns to a slower bpm after a couple of weeks.
>>606362610 VA doctor. I pretty much insisted, because I was taking it anyway (online source), and couldn't handle only taking it when I could afford it. Last time I got off selegiline I stopped having the motivation to even get out of bed and shower. I really don't want to go back to that.
>>606360328 I'm definitely up for the cardio, now that the weather is nicer, and I suppose 3 months isn't bad, if it helps the problem long term.
>>606362759 I don't think so. What I think is happening is you're tripping your baroreceptors in your blood vessels. These vessels dilate and contract the vessels according to your blood pressure. If they dilate, it gives you a shitty headache. I recommend taking to a cardiologist if it persists and causes you a lot of problems. I don't think it's dangerous, though. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. This isn't really my area of expertise.
>>606363578 Also, and I should have mentioned this earlier, I suppose... Minor pain. Sharp, but not intense in my chest, and occasional soreness in my left arm. I always assumed that even a minor heart attack would feel pretty intense, so I pretty much ignored it.
>>606363816 Tell me what pills you've tried. There's no need to be upset, anon. If you're smarter than me about all of this, you didn't need to ask. I just want a good outcome for you. I know this is /b/, and everyone's a faggot, but I do actually give a shit.
>>606364757 Well, like I said, pretty moderate. I probably should, I'm just lazy like that. Sardonically, that's why I started taking the Selegiline in the first place. My blood pressure is normal, and chances are they'd just tell me what Ialready know: need cardio, stay off 4chan for a while.
>>606364390 >>606364611 Various and numerous muscle relaxants that don't put me to sleep. Various Benzos that have done nothing but keep me high and then make me sleep for 3 hours and make me groggy when I wake up. I don't like pill, I have stopped taking pills since 18. Potassium Bromide Meloxicam was nice, but hard to find and I don't like taking it since it is addictive, but have bought 3 bottles before I think they were 50mg each. Lasted me quite a while and I enjoyed using it, but I don't want to get addicted to anything.
I don't like pills. IV knocks me out the best and always works, ever since age 17. I want to know the best and safest IV drug though. Ketamine makes my head feel weird but doses of 150mg knock me clean out if I don't build a tolerance and use it every night. (Which I have done) Other drugs I have tried are spacy or have left me in a state of "What the hell is happening for 5-6 hours"
I want a drug that I don't have to keep looking for.
I want to know what is best to IV to knock me out regularly with no adverse effects and very little tolerance, its the only thing that has worked time and time again, and no doctor could convince me otherwise.
>>606365907 Good question. No clear answers. It depends a lot on how well controlled you can get your depression. If your meds help, and you're doing things in your life to help your depression (exercise, socializing, not being a huge boozehound) you have a pretty good chance of not having recurring psychosis and eventually getting off of your meds. If you don't take your meds, are not on effective ones, or don't take care of yourself, you could have more episodes or be on SSRIs for a long, long time. How are you doing, anon?
>>606366104 Meloxicam is an NSAID, like ibuprofen. Now, get a sleep study. You CAN get help from a doctor who knows what they're talking about. You do not want to be on syringes for the rest of your life. All that being said, what would I do if I were you? Probably propofol*. Stay away from ketamine. *in theory... I hope I don't get sued for this shit, but you're going about this so stupidly, I guess I have to reply
>>606366489 Not bad, round two of school for Eng, under doctor's care. Minor dip during end of midterms/runup to exams but nothing like before when I dropped out/got weird. Even then I was alternatively lucid/understood shit wasn't right, but certainly had my moments. Messages from the tv, delusions of poverty, fear of government officials, fear for the global/country's food supply kinda stuff, etc.. Never actually got hospitalized as I was too paranoid about being committed to let on the extent of things until after the fact so the diagnosis is in retrospective. On SSRI plus low dose risperidone.
>>606367238 Sorry you had to go through that, anon. I know school can be stressful, but you can do it. I'm glad you can at least catch yourself when you're in a paranoid state. There's a lot to be said for it.
Also, I have taken (stolen) various SSRI from my mother (left me with head changes and migraines episodes happened 3 days after stopping I think I was 17). I have tried xanex but will never do that ever again. I have tried a lot, and when I was 16-18 I have probably tried a lot I shouldn't have, which is a reason I shun pills like the plague, its a god sent I have not ever shot up black tar heroin or anything with the people I have to deal with to get what I have gotten because its been offered like a million times.
Like I said, I IV I don't pop pills anymore. Pills scare me, they aren't something I want to go back too. Nor would ever want to be prescribed.
>>606367953 Generally, I'm pro-marijuana. I think it's a lot less of a problem than alcohol. As for anxiety: back in the pre-doctor days I tried it and it made me paranoid as hell. People tell me it works for them sometimes, even though I haven't experienced it. Pain killers? The problem with using opioids or booze for anxiety is that it makes it worse in the long run. Much worse. Then you get addicted. If weed works for you, then you're going to do what you're going to do. I don't think it's really bad for you, but I don't think it's going to replace anti-anxiety meds, either. There are a lot of studies to back up SSRI's efficacy. I think they will be the gold standard.
>>606367232 I have only ever had one bottle of Propofol. 200mg bottle, 20ml. It was like heaven in a bottle. 1ml worked quite well, but it took about 20-30 minutes to drift to sleep. Never suffered I think its been 4 months since I have had it. No one has yet to offer it again.
Last episode was 2 months ago 4 days after I had been up for 2 days.
I find that laying on my side or laying any way makes no difference, and I have a very high fear of sleeping every night.
No one knows, no one on /b/ unless they have it every night could ever know the fear that is Sleepy Paralysis. I can't even begin to describe the horror here.
I have screamed for 8 hours straight laying next to the woman I love begging her to wake me up or just.. The barrier between reality and what is and isn't doesn't exist sometimes when episodes happen, I can't even describe how painful it is to think of sleep.
I have a problem, yes, but the only thing a sleep study would do is show that I have normal sleep patterns and normal REM sleep. The longest I have gone was when I was 14 and didn't have an episode for 6 months, then WHAM back to reality and it occouring at least once every month.
I feel safe, and it just happens. I can't control it, I can't do anything but fear it. Fear sleep every night. Its like I'm playing a cruel game with god but I'm never in control.
Alright Doc, I got 2 issues... These little off-white balls of nasty irritate my tonsils and I fucking hate it. I poke around and push them out with Q-tips soaked in mouthwash, but they keep coming back. What do?
Also, my trapezius muscles cramp so hard, my vision goes blurry and I can't bear the pain.
>>606369168 I feel badly for you, anon. I really do. I've had sleep paralysis, and it sucks. However, I hope you try to help yourself in healthier ways. You sound like you might have some sort of anxiety disorder on top of it, so you may want to get that checked out, too. Also, that is not only what happens in a sleep study, so you could try it instead of insisting you know that it will fail before you try it.
>>606369599 Does this happen to your tonsils frequently? For how long? You're going to need to go to the doctor for meds, I think. You probably have tonsillitis. What happened to your muscle? How long has it been hurting for?
>>606368991 Thanks Dr. One last tetrahedra canaboid related question. If marijuana were medicinally legal in all 50 states and Dr.s started prescribing it for whatever they deemed might be a solution to in place of today's pharmas. What financial effect would this have on the major pharmaceutical companies that are currently in place.
>>606370415 Big pharma will fight it to the end, I'm sure. The drug Marinol is supposed to be their answer to not legalizing weed, although it's rarely prescribed. They'd stand to lose a lot of money. Chronic pain meds like Cymbalta still don't have generics, and they're outrageously expensive.
I have dieted, exercised, been on all natural diets. Ever since 18 I have done this. It makes no difference anon. I am not in control. I'm playing a game with god and he is just fucking with me. I have no other options but IV drugs. They are the only thing that makes me in control of my sleep. They are the only thing that gives me power over the fear.
Anxiety is a very loose term for what I am going through. Its more like fear that I hate to fear. I hate that I have to fear it.
>>606367232 Please then, inform me how a sleep study might help one such as myself and how long I would have to do it for for it to be of any use, and what they might find and or do after it.
Like I said, it happens regularly on a monthly basis, but has not happened before for quite some time. Then out of nowhere.
I have been to my wits end on this issue, but have learned and gained nothing. How would a sleep study help, please, do enlighten me anons. If you know, please.
Infection of what sort that could have caused these episodes ever since a very young age? Like I said, age 6 is my earliest remembrance of the episodes, I used to think it was a dream when I was a kid, only as I got older did I realize it wasn't a dream anymore. It was an inescapable fact of my life that I have had to deal with for a very long time. >>606362166
>>606370967 What you are describing IS anxiety. Textbook anxiety. The fear of fear is anxiety 101. So, please, get it checked out. I have to go soon, anon, so I don't have a lot of time. What I can say is that you have shown nothing but resistance to going to the doctor. Just go, anon. Do whatever you do now and STILL GO. It doesn't matter what I say because you're just going to make me explain myself further and further. Plus, sleep studies are not my area of expertise. But I can tell you that I know more about it than you do, and I have no reason to lie to you. Please, just go. >>606371156 Thanks a lot, Dr. House.
>be chicken >get something like mareks >three days later still alive and eating but can't stand or walk >other chicken bro is now limping and has dark purple crown >do I have mareks? Seriously what should I do?
