still playing this masterpiece, so many years later
I miss Enemy Territory
This was the disc in a box of cereal that CHANGED YOUR LIFE.
This game was fucking amazing.
actually, that would be chex quest. first shooter i ever played
Trying to remember these two games... Both early Windows (95 or 98). One was a maze game from first person (not the screen saver one) and the other was this racing game where you picked up parts, built your own car, and did like a drag race type thing.
Anyone know? Because I'm drawing a blank.
Holy fuck what a bunch of kids you are.
"You begin the game in this, er, fine establishment. The urge you feel is the urge to urinate. Pick one of the bathrooms (women northeast, men northwest); this will determine your character's sex for the game. Relieve yourself. Check out the smell. You don't need to take the stool. In a move or two, you'll be whisked away to…"
A lot of good memories in this thread. here is one of my favorite games from the early 90s.
Me either, I went to all the bother of finding it on PS1, but you can't customize mechs on PS1, or save progress. :(
I wonder why good classics never get remade. Is the mech building part of Mechwarior 2, or the Materia customization of FF7 all that hard to replicate? or the tech tree/ship building/ space combat in Master of Orion 2.
Why 0 successful clones?
I would play this shooter all the fucking time
I'm also trying to remember a... something? i think it was an art game, but you're also in this weird purple building and there's rooms with like different weirdos that show you stuff...
I have a game "somewhere" in my apartment that I can't find, and I'm blanking on the title. I was a real simple RTS where you would draft buy medieval units and place them on three by three trays, each unit taking up a different pattern of squares.
Knights and archers took one square, siege units two or three long, and dragons took up a five square cross. Y would then send them out to destroy the other guys army and castle.
can /b/ find the name of an old game where your goal was to get these little blue people/things (no arms) through different obstacles?
if I remember right, you could customize each one's shoes and hair before you started the adventure.
all I can remember gameplay wise was the start was rainy and they get on some boat.
the only obstacle thing I can remember was you had to get as many as you could from the cliff you were on to the one across a bridge. there was a face of stone on the side of the cliff and it would blow your blue people/things away if you screwed up.
anyone know what I'm talking about?
I don't know but this one brings back memories too
zoombinis is how you spell it, just found it anon, your welcome :D
holy fuck yes thanks /b/ro!
Anyone else remember this shit right here being Dark Souls levels of hard or was I just a little pussy?
Games meant more then, you didn't have 30+ games coming out every month so you cherished the good ones and played the everliving shit out of them
The Neverhood. The creator is releasing a new game this year.
it came with my Xbox as a 2 in 1 starter (the other game was Tetris)
Keep it PC niggers. Preferably DOS era.
>how can I be a spear carrier without my spear?
80's kid reporting in, I loved this game. My parents would send me to bed early so they could play it, cunts.
>c64 master race
>old pc edition
My bad anons
Underworld 2, got lost in that game when I was younger so much.
oh fukking yes! good one
HOLY SHIT THANK YOU
Back when things were alright... 1/2
FUCK I remember that I loved that game
how about this
This fucking thread.
In moments like this I still love you /b/.
I still play all of these regularly.
I have come down, from Mount Olympus!
Worship me, and you'll never have to fear fire.
There was never a genius without a teacher of madness.
I could go on.
is that commando ?
Couldn't pass the first mission. Lost interest. Desperados, tho..it had me there.
Anyone remember how plagued with cheaters the online servers for this were???
Ok so there was this game that I played with a friend around 2000, maybe earlier. It was an RPG with really cheap graphics, but difficult quests. Can't remember much.
The last level we played, the main character was on a boat, cleaning vomit from puking sailors.
I remember the company Westwood, and checked their site and wiki to see their games. Couldn't find it. Maybe I'm wrong about westwood.
Looked like something like in the picture. NOT IT.
wow what is with the quality threads tonight? well this morning...lol
The first opus was a masterpiece for its time, they completely fucked the sequels and ruined what could have been a reference license in RTS.
Did I just suck as a kid or was this game hard as shit?
No RTT/RTS will ever feel quite the same.
Like you friend, it dawned on me when games started tracking that status. I got Medieval Total War 2 in college. I played the shit out of it. It wasn't until my new computer, newer Total Wars, and fucking Steam, did I realize how much time is invested...
Best part, I'm a teacher. When I student taught, I prepped myself on Westward Expansion by re-buying (I think the firsts were sold at a yard sale or lost?) Oregon Trail 1 and 2. That seriously helped me!
found my old ps1 games, This game was the shit.
I got this and it came with a box of TSR games. Lord of the realm is the only strategy game I haven't beaten besides one called Machines, the AI script learns off your style, if you Zerg rush in the first level you get rushed in the 2 for example.
That apple! I think it is it! Anon, you just put to an end 15 years of memory struggle. Tonight I will have one for ya.
omg, i played that !
i loved it. sadly, there was some strange bug, anytime i was getting close to a fjord or... i don't exactly remember, but the game was crashing under certain specific situation, so i could only play a limited part of the game.
gamestore told me to send back the game, when i called back, they said one of their employee took it with him and left. They paid back for the game though.
but parents refused to buy it back, i missed it.
thank you very much /b/ro for bringing back that memmory
there was also a black and white old tank game, in the desert (early 90's). something about rommel. loved it.
privateer guys, and the whole Wing Commander serie !
Anyone else getting depressed thinking of how much better life was back then?
Like how bullshit today is vs when things weren't as hard/complicated?
DO you guys remember the first batch of CD games back in the days ?
Wipe out !
and Star Wars: Rebel Assault
those were the games taht came with most PC you bougth at the time. i think one of the first popular CD games
i loved Star Wars: Dark Forces too
OHHH NOO!! THE GLOP MONSTER!! rrraasswhrhhghhh
Oh absolutely. This is why I ignore most nostalgia threads.
Never DOStalgia though. Always leaves me with a warm elated feeling of shared experience with all you too-old-for-fourchan-neckbeards here.
Imagining us all playing this shit offline at home yearsa ago and still being semi-actual geeks for playing vidya. We weren't ostracised for it, we made it mainstream. And we never even knew about each other.
I wish we could play together to relish in the nostalgia anon. <3
spot on, dude. such a strange feeling to think about how we all had no idea one day when we got older, we'd meet others who played the same games we did that also left a similar impact on their lives
i h8 getting attached to fellow anons but i ges ~everything is temporary~
>not defending the Jewish state
i've played 90's era games for 20 years.Really, playsed most of my life old 90's games. Sometimes rebuying it 3 or 4 times, cause friend stole game or lost it when relocating.
I still grab some on steam now, or get it at abandonware websites. So coold to play great games at such low cost.
But i have to admit, it's getting harder and harder to stand the pixellised old graphics nowadays. My eyes gets spoiled by graphic quality of new games... but usually new games' gameplay suck so much, so easy and uninteresting. Games nowaydays don't have much challenge except a really really small exceptions.
Like the Diablo Hardcore mode : your character die once, you loose it and everything he had. OMG, nearly impossible to put something like that nowadays : exceptions diablo 3 (not taht great) and Real Of the Mad God (pixellised)
Another series I played the ever living hell out of! Have you tried any of the Total War games? My recent discovery has been Crusader Kings 2. It's a plethora of games that you and I know on PCP....
Even compared to today, they're still difficult, your computer didn't used to be able to keep up with the quick button presses needed, now we can't slow them down enough to play em, they're still just as hard.
fuck you fucking alliance SCUM HORDE ONLY BITCH
I loved this game when I was kid, it was awesome !
OG '98 runescape
I found it through arcadepod.com originally
Haven't seen this game one time in this thread so I will post it.
Crusader Kings takes the perspective of a ruler and his territory. You can literally play as anything from count to emperor. The map is ridiculously huge and it's addicting. I would suggest you check it out. It's the game Risk plus Total War on an asinine amount of drugs! Crusader Kings 2.
On that note, this has been a great conversation, but I'm exhausted between a school day and my secondary job; I've got about a 4 hour window of sleep here before the next school day.
Peace out friend and happy nostalgia!
You have been most excellent and I wish you the best sir!
