The pacing of the movie, the sound, the music everything goes together perfectly.
The acting is superb and there is not a single bad actor in that movie.
And then there is the haunting story of the man trying to live up to his own expectations of him self mixed with kaufmans wierd style.

i'd say his shit is still groundbreaking in some way, if inconsistent. some of his plotless works are more interesting to study and it's kinda cool because they're obscure to the point of where you never know if it'll be a hidden gem (Prenom Carmen) or shit (Film socialisme)
