I like TTGL for the following reasons:
1) I appreciate a good WILLPOWER! GAR! anime and TTGL takes it further than any other.
2) TTGL wears its symbolism on its sleeve and ties it all together very well.
3) I draw parallels between humanity's situation in TTGL and IRL; humanity is stuck on Earth's surface but wants to expand into the stars, but humanity's expansion brings the universe closer to the inevitable heat death of the universe (the Spiral Nemesis).
4) My "religion", if you could call it that, can generally be summed up with "Humanism, Fuck Yeah!" and TTGL really resonates with that.

I like TTGL for it's animation style which is very distinct what with the exaggerated stretched movements and the heavy fx graphics and whatnot, which is awesome imo.
Also, I like the simplicity of it all, obvious symbolism, simple to follow story. It's so textbook that it's just good. And then there's these exaggerated characters. It's like the whole anime is an ode to taking too far and getting away with it. That's what I like about it. It's not cowboy bebop with it's great score and weird but immersive storyboarding. It's "HERE THIS GUY IS MANLY AND SHE HAS BIG TITS WATCH ROBOTS NOW LOL".

TTGL is fun with the maximum willpower manliness punching themes but in that genre I think I like shows like s-CRY-ed, yu yu hakusho, or berserk a little more.

you should broaden your horizons and try stuff from different genres. I really liked Ping Pong the animation last year.
