So I'm planning a nice dinner party for some friends and as usual I say its ok to bring dinner guests
For the main course we prepare some chicken Parmesan, stuffed beef hearts, country fried pork chops, and three kinds of marinated steak cutlets.
We present everything and low and behold one of the invited guests looks at this spread all sad and helpless and says the dreaded words "I'm sorry I'm a vegetarian, I can't eat any of this" And he asks if we can make something else, we had spent an hour preparing everything. I tell him no and he spends the entire evening looking sad and upset while everyone else eats and socializes.
No meat allergies, no issues, just he killed the mood.
I'm planning another dinner party, how do I avoid this shit?
>>595219410 >Only eat meat and dairy >Never have to shit >Have so much protein that I literally piss it away >Get vitamins through eating various organs such as liver and kidneys Join me anon, laugh at the vegans as they die of anemia.
>>595219410 Did you bother asking any of your guests about their dietary needs or eating habits? I doubt it. So really, you're the asshole here. You assumed that everyone was like you without finding out and then REFUSED to make or get food that your guest could eat. In another time, you'd be killed for violating hospitality laws.
It's not up to you to cater to every food type in the world. If they make a good choice they need to be aware that they may be in situations that go against their choice. They can snack on side dishes and still be friendly. That person was just being an entitled snob.
>>595221557 It's pretty natural to assume that everyone would eat meat, because the vast majority of people do. The vegetarian or the guy who invited him could've told OP before they came over, but they didn't. It's his own fault.
>>595221396 correct, we did not evolve to eat meat. The very fact that we find it extremely hard to eat it without cooking in some way kinda proves this however, the massively increased protein intake from eating meat allows us to develop extremely advanced brains, improves our health, and generally allowed us to grow our population to a total biomass never seen by any other species in the history of planet earth. In order to remain healthy after this transition, vegetaridiots have to take protein supplements or eat food high in protein to keep up with the rest of us. Countless ex-vegetarians speak of all the chronic issues that disappeared within weeks after converting back to reality
OP here, to clear a few things up Because I just like to put on nice things for my friends.
>>595221551 It wasn't all meat, the beef hearts were stuffed with spinach and mushrooms, Several appetizer dishes we had were sauteed peppers and onions, vegetable soup. Eating nothing but meat is unhealthy.
>>595221396 you are retarded, humans are omnivores thus we can eat everything
>>595221557 If someone has an allergy we don't cook it or we flag the dish so they don't eat it If someone tells us they have a PREFERENCE halfway through the evening I'm not going to bend over backwards for them. Hospitality stops at being a douchelord and expecting the world to cater to you, I had already put out a nice spread.
>>595222213 I agree, but the person was just being sulky the entire time
>>595221622 Problem is when you know someone who is actually alergic to some frucking wierd protine in most meats. I have a friend who can't have more then a few bites of meat be for she gets sick and throws up. And waiters and people don't believe her and give her such shit over it. Btw boca burgers fucking suck.
>>595223469 1 species of human biomass: 360 million tons all 12600 species of ant: 30-300 million tons (wikipedia) also, wikipedia says the cattle we produce outweigh us, although im not sure this counts as success of cattle
Just always have a fucking pasta dish. I mean shit is it that hard? I'm just as annoyed by vegetarians as anyone else but this is dinner party 101. Always have pasta ready. Cheap, easy, anyone can eat it, everyone likes it.
>>595223959 around 90% of people I've met with "allergies" just fake them to receive special treatment to boost their ego and hear "Oh poor you, is life hard like that" Sometimes in private they even admit to this and look smug.
>>595224376 >You have your own responsibilities as a guest
It's true. If you have special dietary needs that are abnormal you need to make them known well in advance if you expect them to be accommodated. Mostly just don't except them to be accommodated and eat before/do whatever the fuck those stupid vegetarians do.
Don't invite inconsiderate shitheads next time OP.
>invite people over for fancy free meal >"Uhhh I want a different fancy free meal" >No
Sticking up for the vegetarian is like saying "Hey, I made this country beautiful and I've improved upon it to the standards myself and most other people like. If you niggers want to have your asses wiped and not get jobs then you can not be part of this."
So, you know OP is a stupid conservative Christian white cisgender male scumbag who knows not the privilege he was BORN with
>>595219410 Legumes, grains, vegetables and fruit? How many guests did you have over? That sounds like a shit load of protein when each adult female needs 46 grams and men only 56 grams per day http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_(nutrient)#Dietary_requirements.
>>595219410 >he asks if we can make something else seriously these fucking vegetarians piss me off. if i don't like something on the table i don't eat it, i don't fucking ask for people to make something else for my royal ass. vegetarians are cunts. also i know some vegan people and they keep putting their bullshit veganism into every completely unrelated conversation and expect people to be polite about it. so i decided to bring up how i fucking devour dead and cooked animals into every irrelevant conversation and pretended to not understand why are they so offended by that. seriously fuck your double standards and fuck your self righteousness and fuck your picky eating you deuchebags.
>>595226594 you're missing the entire fucking point you asshole. nobody cares about what the fuck you need, people want to eat delicious food and have fun. and fucking vegetarians ruin the entire thing by fucking coming over. seriously if you're incapable of being social at the dinner table then fuck off and let other people enjoy themselves you dead weight of a person.
>>595219410 IM actually a certified Health Coach so i can probably help you. First of all that dudes a fucking jackass for even suggesting you make a different meal a the table, he should have told you ahead of time. But to fix the problem is mad simple just make a large side of veggies. Like some green beans or broccoli or whatever the fuck you wanna use just make more of it and tell him he can have that. You wont even really need to go out of the way
Ive been a vegan for 10 years and I would never do what this asshole did. He knows that his diet is very limited and he chose to go knowing there wouldnt be any vegetarian food there. If I was in his shoes, I wouldnt have been rude. I would have said everything looked and smelled lovely and just politelly declined to eat. He could have still enjoyed the conversation and atmosphere
>>595219410 As a vegan I say that's his own damn fault. How were you supposed to know he wouldn't eat it?
I hate it when other vegetarians/vegans act surprised when people can't read their minds or try to make people cook them something new when they didn't do their research. Makes the rest of us look like cunts.
I guess in the future make sure people tell their guests that they have to warn you about allergies/unusual diets.
>humans aren't omnivores yes, we fucking are. we are able to digest meat. and we aren't able to synthesize protein. we also evolved around needing the fucking nutrients and vitamins found in red meat. stop saying humans aren't omnivores, that's retarded.
>>595226826 Just saying your body can't process protein after that it just rots in your intestine and you shit it out. Meat tastes good after you have reached your maximum protein for the day because the sugars that are stored in your muscles, way cheaper to just make the right amount of meat and have deserts and vegetables and other sugary things if you are looking to make gluttony the unifying theme of your social event.
Pick a task, any task, and you'll find your intelligence and capacity towards it varies. Some tasks, you can't perform at all, yet you can watch another organism, whether it's of your own species or not, perform it with ease.
Relative. As in, you can't just be intelligent if there's nothing else around you. It's less accurately viewed as an intrinsic trait, and more accurately a relative one. You can resolve it to an intrinsic spectrum I suppose, but it's just masturbatory and will lead most people to delusion as they'll never be able to form an accurate picture of the whole using their own finite flawed logic.
>>595227866 Well there is research that pretty much proves there is a chemical in red meat that human beings cant synthesie correctly. It causes red blood cells to do some pretty cray shit and eventually causes cancer
White meat like chicken and fish is okay though. Humans dont get sick eating these kinds of meat.
That's not true. Becoming a vegan doesn't change your sense of taste if you've been eating meat before that. Unless you're being dishonest and lie. You just gotta go above that shit, it's not that hard.
>>595228550 >hurr durr i can't comprehend english ruining a fun get-together because people eat something you don't equates to not being social. if i don't like seafood i don't go to a seafood restaurant and kill the mood of everyone there by sitting there being awkward. and some vegetarian fucktards think it's their fucking duty to do shit like that.
>>595228500 Junk science that scientists have proven in a laboratory setting with quality controls and repeated testing. You can choose to be ignorant if you want man, but science is not "bunk". Science is proven by testing variables until a result is found. The result is meat causes cancer.
>>595219410 Vegetarians taste good. And they are usually pretty lean so high in protein low in fat. Invite the vegetarian to your next dinner party . Tell them to arrive about 6 hours before so they can help make dinner. Spit roasting takes about 6 hours. Speciality dish. It will be the talk for months. I f vegetarian has any children Adopt them for the next dinner.
Would it have really been so hard for the OP to make something else? I would have just to be accommodating to a guest. Even if it was just a salad. Maybe do something creative with the 20 odd jars of picked beets I made from last summer. It's not like he was one of those vegetarians that went off and started proselytizing.
On the other hand the vegetarian shouldn't have been so mopey. If I was in his position I would have set my sights on the alcohol and get wonderfully drunk for the rest of the night.
>>595223187 Did you invite the vegetarian directly or was he a guest of a guest?
As a vegetarian, I would make it clear at the time of invite that I don't eat meat to the person inviting me. If that person isn't the host and I didn't know the host then I probably would turn down the invite simply because of my chosen diet.
>>595229123 Look at those motherfucking legs m8, and it's still hunched, look up the proper posture of humans. t-rex size and proper posture wouldn't work at all, the spine would be fucked 7 ways to sunday.
>>Long-term exposure to this sugar in mice caused a five-fold increase in their chances of developing cancer.
>>So researchers bred “humanized” mice that lacked the ability to produce Neu5Gc. They fed them the mouse equivalent of red meat, mouse chow enriched with Neu5Gc, for 12 weeks. The mice also received regular injections of Neu5Gc antibodies to mimic what happens in the human body.
Mice != human.
They even admit as much in your article:
>>Although there’s an abundance of theories attempting to explain red meat’s ill effects, concrete evidence is still in short supply.
Not saying it's wrong, it's just not very well proven at this point. That said, I do eat red meat far less than chicken or fish myself... mainly cuz it's cheaper though.
>>595219410 Normally I would be on your side, but you seriously didn't serve one vegetable? Yes, asking the host to prepare something vegetarian after they were invited as a guest is kinda douchey, but you don't even have a single potato on the table? I get it, it's your party, you can serve what you like. It's just strange that you have, what, five meat entrees and not a single side dish the hippy can graze on? You made a "nice" dinner party, and yet there isn't a salad? It's like you're trying to prove a point or something.
I mean, from what you're saying, the guy seems pretty decent. He doesn't rub it in your face that he's a vegetarian. He went to a dinner thinking, "Okay, I'm a vegetarian, but there's bound to be something that isn't meat. I'll just eat some mashed potatoes or asparagus or something." Then he shows up, and it's like an anti-vegetable gathering.
>>595228087 >>595227488 Fuck that. If you're the one with the retarded rabbit, then YOU should have the courtesy to TELL the person ASKING YOU to a dinner party. OP: " I'm throwing a dinner party, want to come?" Retarded Bunny: "Sure, what are you serving?" That right there, could have fucking fixed it. It was that or even: OP: Want to come to a dinner party?" Retarded Grass Eater: " Yeah, and just to let you know, I'm a Vegetarian."
>Vegafag was invited to a dinner party. >Nobody put a gun to his head. Went voluntarily. >Thinks the world should cater to their downs decisions. >Upset because too retarded to ask whats being served or informing of grass preference. >Ruins mood of the party. Fuck em. Well OP I guess for all the retarded people on this planet, I guess you will have to take the initiative and say whats being served because others are too stupid to question whats being served before going to a dinner party.
>>595230095 So it is no longer that we bipedal but that we have a spinal column? Ants can't get any bigger because they have an exoskeleton what legit reason is there that humans could not evolve to be a larger size? Why would future generations even look anything like us?
>>595230232 If you actually read the studies you inbred piece of shit, you would note that Neu5Gc isn't the direct cause of cancer but rather accelerates the development of cancer that is already present. But of course, as soon as a study is produced that you favor, you skew the results to fit your views. You should also consider sterilizing yourself anon.
>>595230959 Yeah I guess I am because I can relate. When you go out to get some pizzas for a pizza party to boost morale in the job site, and somebody thinks they have the right to bitch about the food being FREELY GIVEN TO THEM WITHOUT THEM EVEN CHIPPING IN, then yeah I can feel this guys pain compared to my own story.
>>595230921 Yeah that's if something else doesn't kill you. By the way, I'm an American, and I have to eat a balanced diet. I love all types of food, I can't eat steak every night. Maybe because my parents aren't American.
>>595228286 Yeah... probably. I've got a chronic pain condition though, and I'm at that point of hungry, bored, and tired where I'm having difficulty making sense of even a web browser... Working memory just dumps everything mid-task. /blog, whining and excuses aside -
Been a lot of research done about branching effects over multiple systems.
>>595228500 >I'm not You shouldn't claim you're not something you don't know if you are or not. Either way, sorry man, research shows it's extremely likely you are and it yields slow health effects. Research as time goes on will make the picture become clearer.
If we grew artificial meat in vats we could engineer this out. That's what I'm hoping for, food for thought. Pun intended. As it stands, meat is massively overconsumed, and pitiful quality, and you are going to have problems because of it.
>>595230828 I can understand that logic but despite our higher level of thinking, we are just animals. And do you know what animals do to other animals? I think killing for sport is fucked up but we have to eat. Circle of life. Kinda fucked up killing those plant and all..
>>595230366 yeah see if you have a potato touching any kind of meat like if it's baked with chicken or is even on the same plate they won't touch it. they're acting as if they have some deadly allergies to that. so unless you have a completely separate dish with absolutely no meat in it - you're screwed.
>>595231570 If it's ever shown that plants are conscious then I will have to reevaluate my source of nutrition. Other animals didn't invent computers or rockets... I think it's pretty safe to say that we can operate on a different level than most other species on this planet. We have to eat, but we don't have to eat other living animals.
>>595231570 We no longer have to eat meat, and "growing meat" is extremely inefficient and resource intensive. We have advanced farming, shipping, and all the bioavailable nutrients we need. Eating meat is just a matter of convenience and desire.
Admit that and the nature of your actions to yourself and you will have my "respect" to at least be left to your doings. Keep making bullshit excuses and you'll just keep gettin' chipped away at. Somethings gotta give eventually.
>>595231945 Who said you had to make them suffer? The way we currently mass produce and slaughter animals is a far cry from humane but many local farms give them a swift and clean death. Often knocking them out first. Do you oppose the death in general or the suffering that might come of it?
I guess that's fair. But this is a dinner party. Was it really impossible for the OP to not have a veg side dish or something else he could eat? If the guy DID have a legit medical reason he can't meat, would the OP have said the same thing and denied him anything?
>>595232128 Sure, I suppose I can admit that for the moment. Though speaking on a personal level as opposed to a global one, it's also cheaper for me to buy a 99 cent package of hotdogs, then $4/lb and up vegetables.
>>595232256 Have you been tested for allergies? Preferably ELISA based at the very least, IgG, IgA, and IgE.
I can dictate whatever I want. Likewise, you can do whatever you want until you're stopped. Given that we're relatively anonymous on the internet there isn't really a balance of power in that sense (beyond verbally / socially), so I'm not sure why you're acting all threatened or whatnot. Bringin' it to that level.
This has been my second post about that matter here. I've been watching this thread, none of it has been adequately countered. Probably because you can't. Think otherwise, then prove it Give some evidence. Give some reasoning. Give an argument. Converse. Otherwise, shut up. You're wastefully cluttering the thread and contributing to the bump limit.
>>595231889 It's not a cult, friend. He didn't really have the opportunity to show that he's not that picky, since there isn't a single vegetable to pick out. What's he going to do, scrape the cheese off of the chicken parm? The potato was an example. Again, salads. Call me old fashioned, but any decent dinner is going to serve a salad before the meal. Unless OP has some weird fetish, he isn't going to be rubbing the lettuce on the beef hearts before serving it.
>>595232809 I've seen all of those as well and it's horrible. More reason to buy free range and from local farms (assuming you live in a relatively rural area). I just don't see it as a bad thing if the animal didn't suffer. I don't think you or any vegetarians are wrong for your lifestyle (though I believe vegans are fully retarded), it's just not my thing.
>>595232439 feeling and reacting to pain isn't the same thing when talking about conscious entities. Plants have not been shown to be conscious. I'm not saying they're not, but rather we haven't found a way to prove that they are. Until that has been done, I think it's okay to eat them.
>>595232606 Depends on what you consider alive. A plant hasn't been shown to be conscious. So much like vinegar and baking soda, a plant is a reaction of chemicals that simply react to things. I personally draw the line at consciousness. I'm not saying they're not conscious, I'm only saying we haven't been able to prove they are.
>>595219410 I don't eat pork and beef. When I go to dinners and there is pork and beef being served, I eat the other things that are available. And I've never been to a dinner where the ONLY things available are pork and beef. So I think that your friend (one of the invited guests) is an attention whore and a moron.
