It's not really with the thread theme but I think it's interesting
Seeing pictures depicting stellar bodies in such close proximity to one another always irks me...
It's the "someone hands me a cheese sandwich" that always gets me.
>tfw you will never live long enough to see mankind build anything close to these.
>Born too soon to travel the galaxy
Hey, that's a good one. I'm into that kind of thing.
A lot of them are very impractical but they're nice to look at.
Shit that one's pretty low res. Sorry.
Think about how dumb and impractical we are today.
>sprawling, massive ribbons of road
>so big to accommodate wild driving
>driving sucks because operated by all kinds of people
>large cities necessitate cars and driving
>everyone has to drive to live
>needs more road
It only looks dumb when you don't think about the advancement and history leading up to that state/point.
Well, average people just aren't very good at things.
The next technological era will come about when individual countries start forming co-operative research groups.
I think one major hindrance is the majority of people don't feel it's necessary for us to advance yet to space/cyber age and the likes. Most are just content with the world right now as it is.
Yeah but they have to have competition to really spur it on. Having at least three large co-operatives would be ideal.
>And why hasn't it started yet?
because real life isn't like your vidia.
but it's coming, and it will be painful for everyone with a strong emotional investment in a vision of how it should be.
UN Doesn't really have competition and it's mostly to provide security and humanitarian aid to countries that need it. The ISS is nice and a necessary step along the path to traveling the solar system. The real key that drives tech advances is competition. The Cold War is a good example but they basically bankrupted themselves in their rush for tech.
alright I'm kinda out of sci fi pics
I hope yall dont mind random pictures now
Also, what are you listening to. Share some music
But at the same time it's not really smart for the world to start a new world war just for technological advancement even tough you are particularly right.
