you have 10 seconds to name a better new-ish electronic album
Old stuff yes. Be he even admitted he made the old stuff to get famous so he could then get paid doing what he likes.
Has anyone seen him live? I saw his Words tour on shrooms and it was fantastic.
I liked old Porter shit better, these days I've basically just shifted over to Savant and stopped listening to him entirely. Was not impressed with Worlds, probably because I burned myself out on the whole pseudoambient thing with a jillion identical-sounding Aphex Twin records all those years ago.
Was never a fan of hardstyle. It was just intro verse chorus verse chorus some weird synth bridge chorus repeat. And the kids that used to listen to hardsyle are complete fucking skells
Going to see RL Grime on the 12th, can't wait.
Also MUST DIE!'s album is sick
damn, have fun & yes, agreed. been listening to it non stop since it was released.
nvsb is sick as well
I really liked this one. He's apparently got another coming out soon, I forget what it's called but it's got "part 2" in the name, and of course there was no part 1. Ridiculous how he never runs out of shit to do.
What the fuck is with people coming up with some hack moniker using someones elses name. Com Truise, Mord Fustang, RL Grime, etc.
I suppose Optimus Grime was taken by a 9th grader using a pirated copy of Ableton.
I don't mind these bands and RL Grime is cool.
These are my favorite electronic albums of the past few years. I'm more an IDM than stadium electronic these days.
Also check out this playlist on Spotify (copy and paste into search box)
he absolutely crushes live. you are in for a good show.
how about this?
Nice pic, I dig Jon Hopkins. Also look up Forest Swords and check out that playlist on Spotify.
rl grime & rl stein are boys in real life though. stein did the drop for grime on grimes 2013 halloween mixtape.
also, rl grime & clockwork are the same person if you weren't aware. he isn't a hack producer. dudes been around for a minute
I'm relatively green to seeing electronic concerts and performances. I've see both Odesza and Porter live. I saw Worlds Tour then In Return a few weeks later. Imo Worlds was a better show. It was artistically intriguing both audibly and visually. And Porter was way more into it than Odesza were.
Perhaps it was a venue issue, but the significantly smaller crowd at Odesza positively impacted my experience, whereas the large Porter crowd was knocking on the door of buzzkill.
>Mat Zo - Damage Control
>M Machine - Metropolis (Pts. 1 & 2)
>Jon Hopkins - Immunity
>Rustie - Green Language
>Rustie - Glass Swords
>Wolfgang Gartner - Weekend in America
>Moody Good - Moody Good LP
>The Brookes Brothers - The Brookes Brothers LP
>Phuture Doom - Phuture Doom LP
>Skrillex - Recess
>Rusko - Songs
All of my are mah niggas
Holy fuck I didn't know people like u guys existed
People that liked modern electronica and not just heavy metal and arent closed minded
I fucking love this
Fuck much respect to you guys
Personally here's my 5x5 for electronic albums
As for the best newish one, I can't really argue with Worlds, although Savant's Orakel album was pretty fucking gr8
>Uppermost is a fucking god
OP wants EDM. not BoC.
how good though
Not an album, but what a fucking track
It's the OWSLA boss's bday today
Plus at /mu/ you get fucking shit on if you're not into jazz, blues, heavy metal, shit like that
Other than Aphex Twin and Burial there's literally 0 respect for Electronica on this fucking website
Hi OP. After updating my sonos and utilizing my paid music subscription, I'm hearing it. Sounds good. It's 1:28am here and so far so relax.
might as well listen to this shit
true. people who identify by a genre of music are fucking idiots though, whether ravers or metalheads.
rock/metal is pretty much dead in 2015 though. electronic music and rap is the new rock n roll
The one and only Sonny Moore. He's my favorite person in the game, because of his style/sound as well as his story and life. He deserves every piece of success he has today.
Also, if anyone thinks Sad Machine is the best song on the album they obviously have not fucking heard "Fellow Feeling"
And if they still dont think "Fellow Feeling" is the best track on the album, then idk mane
I saw skrillex at Brown's Island in Richmond earlier this year. Hands down the best show I've ever been to. It was on a fucking island in the middle of the downtown city and he started his set right at sunset. It was godly.
Succeeding in three various music oriented projects is not something anyone can easily accomplish
It sucks that he's become the most hated man in the game when he was and aside from savant is probably the most innovative on the scene atm
He never even talked shit about any other artist is what tops the cake though. It takes a special sort of decent human being to be this hated for being popular and yet still never talk shit about any other artist in the electronic scene *cough* deadmau5 *cough*
>Pic related btw probably one of the best EP's of the year
Who's calling who what? (another anon, not dude with vinyl)
Just makes me cringe when I hear mp3 @ 128 or shit. I copied all my crap to flac and only utilize the finest streaming services. Too bad MOG was bought and deflated.
3 projects? Also I wouldn't say savant is particularly innovative at all. Sure he has some bangers but I wouldn't say there is anything particularly original about them.
Ok honestly I can say its the best aside from Fellow Feeling
PRECISELY. HE'S SAYING A FUCKING MESSAGE IN THE SONG. how broken the fucking scene has become through big room and shit, how electronica has lost its soul. If you listen to the lyrics it all makes sense and the orchestral chords mixed with Electronic tastes is simply a work of fucking art. I'd give Porter a rim job just for that song.
Yeah i got the limited edition one mane :P Only cost $5 more
Check this out if you like ambient
Yes, Sonny was first in a screamo band called From First to Last, then he went as a solo project for a short time as just Sunny Moore, thern he went onto become the producer we know today as Skrillex
Also what in the FUCK are you talking about when you say Savant isn't innovative. He is literally known for that. He constantly breaks barriers. He mixes groove, electronic, funk, etc. into his songs
The shit this man does is amazing and after hearing the fucking beauties he made like
>Dancer in the Dark
List goes on and on
He is brilliant
Am I the only one with Flicker as the fav track?
Big room and the commercial EDM machine really is a big shame. If you go back and watch videos from ultra pre-2012 and like listen to old electro tracks, you start to really appreciate what the style used to stand for before endless monotonous subkick garbage.
I don't know how many (if any) of you know this guy but everything he covers is amazing.(J DIlla, SBRKT, Aphex Twin, etc.) This is a live performance of his own song.
>implying the random board is only for loli, gore, & banana pictures
Also, same anon as >>592938076 and >>592937097
If you got electronic vinyl collections, feel free to post them, here's my bounty that I just started on
that album is average at best. it has some memorable songs. I'm glad he did what he wante dbut i still find it a fairly average album to listen to every now and then. It's meh.
Listening to pic because I couldn't find that. This sucks. Metal.
>EDM Trend Machine
>Give it Up
The album does not suck :P
My favorite song off of Worlds is Sea of Voices. Its uplifting mood just makes me happy. I want to go stargazing someday and listen to that song.
Lead singer is a girl btw. Just for your personal reference.
>Liking Help me Lose my Mind
>Not including the Mazde remix
>What the fuck anon
Do yourself a favor and listen to a better version of that tune:
That moment at 1:10 when it goes from the breakdown to that progressive style build
If you don't mind me asking, why bother with vinyl if the master has already been compressed to hell, as all modern music is? You're literally getting the same thing as you would on a CD or lossless file, with slightly less frequency range.
OP i just blazed a joint while I've been listening to your Porter Robinson album you posted for the first time. Its breddy good man.
I'm listening to that song where they got that Japanese scat track thing going.. nice
As much as I hate to say this
>This is Dirty was a fucking filthy ass festival tune
>I loved it
But at least I can safely say I'm not a fan of them, since other than that song I dont like anything they put out
>Pyramids was fucking autism
I can tolerate DVBBS because they're mostly original. But fuck Martin Garrix, he's gonna fall out of the business very soon and I will celebrate. His only good song was Animals. And 9 times out of 10 the remixes are better than the original song.
Not that dude but I blaze with Spotify
328 kbps I think
Anon think of it this way
Some like to collect buttons, stamps, cars, etc.
And then there are some people that appreciate their music enough where they would like to have a collection of it in physical format
Imo, stamp collections and such are pretty pointless, but vinyl collections are actually practical
And also, it has been proven, that because of how a vinyl is structured, it will always have the best sound quality
Fuck all ya'll.
Someone mentioned pic related and I guess it's just more my mood now.
Pyramids was fucking awful. I didn't think mainstream EDM couldn't get any worse. Another awful festival track would be Afrojack & Martin Garrix - Turn Up The Speakers. The drop is cancer.
>DVBBS mostly original
Topkek anon have you been living under a rock, they're like the most controversial duo atm, being accused left and right (with some decent evidence and reasoning) of being ghost produced by Maarten Vorwek and whatnot
Also speaking of whatnot
>WhatsoNot was exactly the thing the industry needed this year
Did anyone else like the Glitch Mob's recent album?
Future house is just as generic and processed as big room and the same quick abrupt death that big room will experience will accompany Future house as well
That Tchami guy and Oliver Heldens, they're gonna be relevant for the next 3 years tops
Idk why people are psyched about it, if festival drops are gonna be future house, I'm not gonna leae the fucking house
They have no energy in them or everything
Also same synth lead sounds used in every song. It is literally another version of big room house. I'm sorry anon but this is the truth
Don't get me wrong, I have a vinyl collection myself, but it just doesn't make sense to do it with newer records to me. Older records are uncompressed on the master generally, and therefore you can experience them best in the Vinyl format as opposed to transferring them to the computer only to have them be compressed down.
But hey, if it's someone's thing, then it's just their thing. I have no problem with it at all, I was just curious.
Understandable, anon. That's a fair point.
Spotify isn't horrible, but I always try to find a FLAC version of an album anytime I can.
along with techno's slow rise, The queen of techno is gonna have a good year this year, her old school warehouse rave tour last year was spiritual
better than Carl Cox
Deliverance by Culprate.
God-tier quality production. Best i've heard.
Not for everyone since it's really experimental music and might be hard to digest at first
Right on board with you anon
>Beauty of the Unhidden Heart
Gr8 shit mane, good taste
big room is gonna die literally right when this generation of molly poppin bros grows up
Listen here's the premise of big room, it is confined to the same unoriginal, bullshit, and unimpressive set of rules
People are noticing this, the big room sound and it's fucking retarded set of laws it follows will become oversaturated, and will fucking collapse hard
Everyone is slowly noticing this. Big room is ironically killing itself through stagnation and a lack of innovation.
Don't believe me?
>4x4 drum loop bass boosted
>overcompressed clap samples
>Sylenth1 preset melodies that anyone with an understanding of chords can make
>Fucking reverb all over that bitch
This is the formula for big room
HOW DO YOU ARCHIVE THREADS ANON
I HAVE TO ARCHIVE THIS THREAD AS WELL
I'm honestly surprised people haven't tried experimenting with making modern edm more psychadelic. Considering it's an entire music scene based around MDMA, you'd think people would make like psychadelic house and such.
Am I crazy or is that a good idea?
Psytrance is shit sorry kid,
Also, I'm growing a fucking beard waiting for KOAN sound to release some new fucking vinyls
Anything this nigga touches is gold
Also, ID by WhatSoNot is mindbending
You fucking know it /b/ruh
ANy Infected Mushroom fans?
Half of you people speak my Language (pun intended) and fucking music tastes are similar.
Favourite song of IM?
Mines probably serve my thirst or even one from their new Friends on Mushrooms, Astrix on Mushrooms
Yeah its all good anon, i didnt want to come off as like aggressive there
It's just that it surprised me since I lost every molecule of respect I had for them or could have had for them when I heard how blatantly they fucking ripped off Borgore's "Wild Out" drop with their own shitty song "We Were Young". Same exact drop. See for yourself, Idk how they got away wiith something as obvious as that.
Calamari Tuesday anyone?
Love this album to death
That pun was god-tier gg
And surprisingly, I have never listened to IM. Can you recommend your songs for me good anon? I trust your tastes to bring me joy.
Feed Me is great, im planning on getting Calamari Tuesday on vinyl
Definition of dankmau5
Not much into the electronic stuff, but I love this.
Since you enjoy WhatSoNot anon I suspect you might REALLY like these tunes:
These are some really good tunes I think you may enjoy, especially first and second one
Hope ya like
And also refer to >>592940741
Theyre like a trance/electro with breaks like a glitch hop track sometimes.
Well Serve my Thirst is pretty peppy in the second half, and the lyrics at the end are amazing.
Now is Gold is pretty noice
Drum n Bassa was delicious
Pink Nightmares was cool and remains one of my favourites
I Shine is one track that makes me smile
Their cover on The Pretender was great
Astrix on Mushrooms is great, especially if you love trance, it extends from trance, to electro and the track is amazing
And finally, off the top of my head, Becoming Insane. Great spanish feel and lyrics are noice
What do you guys think of this piece? I'm really digging Salzburg
Jamie xx not really an album but worth listening so much
Protip: Listen to the full versions of every song. Im not a fan of full songs unless its a really sweet house song. But infected seem to keep me wholly interested.
Oh, and a must listen if you have the time is the entire album of Army of Mushrooms in one through.
are we talking post-rock now?
cause im in
Many thanks, anon. I was beginning to run out of fresh electronic.
Dunno if anyone has said Manic Focus yet. He's dope though.
