Music is subjective you nigger
>implying porter robinson isn't trash
Black moth supper rainbow, cobra juicy
>>592931675
not op but
porter loves justice
>>592931675
In my opinion that album isn't even great.
>>592931675
Old stuff yes. Be he even admitted he made the old stuff to get famous so he could then get paid doing what he likes.
Has anyone seen him live? I saw his Words tour on shrooms and it was fantastic.
>>592930804
He browses /fa/
>>592931845
saw him a few months ago in boston
and yeah, to agree he basically said the exact thing you mentioned at EMC australia when talking about his album and how he got there
>>592931845
saw him on worlds tour, was more impressed with giraffage as the opener then porter himself
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vsf3zYppP4
enjoy!
>>592932181
WAIT DID YOU SEE HIM AT THE RIALTO?
Dillon Francis
easy
>>592932482
Francis is a bitch. Moombathon was the shit and now all he makes is general 128 bpm repetitive garbage.
>>592930804
I liked old Porter shit better, these days I've basically just shifted over to Savant and stopped listening to him entirely. Was not impressed with Worlds, probably because I burned myself out on the whole pseudoambient thing with a jillion identical-sounding Aphex Twin records all those years ago.
>>592932606
What are your thoughts on hardstyle? like old showtek?

>>592931572
Going to see RL Grime on the 12th, can't wait.

that album was garbage with the exception of get low and drunk all the time.
ODESZA - In Return
ahem
>>592932264
I saw him in tempe at marquee, wish i would of went too Rialto
>>592933409
It was dope. I've never been the the marquee tho.

Its kind of a shitty venue for electronic shows, you been to any shows down in Phoenix? Mad Decent @ Rawhide was insane
Another good one.
>>592933812
That was like two days after the rialto and I couldn't find the energy to go. Wish I did tho. I've been to all the other mad decent shows.

>>592933319
I really liked this one. He's apparently got another coming out soon, I forget what it's called but it's got "part 2" in the name, and of course there was no part 1. Ridiculous how he never runs out of shit to do.
>>592931572
What the fuck is with people coming up with some hack moniker using someones elses name. Com Truise, Mord Fustang, RL Grime, etc.
I suppose Optimus Grime was taken by a 9th grader using a pirated copy of Ableton.
I don't mind these bands and RL Grime is cool.
These are my favorite electronic albums of the past few years. I'm more an IDM than stadium electronic these days.

>>592934042
also M Machine's entire discography.
M machine's production and art style takes shits on porter's any day.
>>592933989
he absolutely crushes live. you are in for a good show.
how about this?
>>592934042

Yeah I browse r/futurebeats sometimes and the shit is so overdone. It's like everyone got together and had a meeting about it. What in the fuck?
Help me Lose My Mind. Nuff said.
>>592934333
rl grime & rl stein are boys in real life though. stein did the drop for grime on grimes 2013 halloween mixtape.
also, rl grime & clockwork are the same person if you weren't aware. he isn't a hack producer. dudes been around for a minute
>>592934341
breddy gud, subbed
>>592934382
That 7/11 remix, so crunchy and good
this
>>592933316
I'm relatively green to seeing electronic concerts and performances. I've see both Odesza and Porter live. I saw Worlds Tour then In Return a few weeks later. Imo Worlds was a better show. It was artistically intriguing both audibly and visually. And Porter was way more into it than Odesza were.
Perhaps it was a venue issue, but the significantly smaller crowd at Odesza positively impacted my experience, whereas the large Porter crowd was knocking on the door of buzzkill.
That was tough

I fucking love this
Fuck much respect to you guys
Personally here's my 5x5 for electronic albums
As for the best newish one, I can't really argue with Worlds, although Savant's Orakel album was pretty fucking gr8
Also
>Uppermost is a fucking god
>>592935708
OP wants EDM. not BoC.
how good though
"Headhunters" - Glowbug
"Kill Your Idols" - Ancient Lasers
>>592935992
EDM is way more popular than metal dumbass
What about best labels? OWSLA is my favorite.
>>592936226
not on /b/ it isn't.
Also I would argue that more people identify themselves as "metal fans" than people who identify themselves as "ravers" or "edm fans"
Not an album, but what a fucking track
>>592936360
It's the OWSLA boss's bday today
>>592936226
youre not wrong. however, this board tends to skew towards being metalheads than EDM fans.

>>592936692
really? /mu/ does hate like EDM and mainstream more dancehall-oriented shit, but they listen to a lot of other electronic music.

It sucks that he's become the most hated man in the game when he was and aside from savant is probably the most innovative on the scene atm
He never even talked shit about any other artist is what tops the cake though. It takes a special sort of decent human being to be this hated for being popular and yet still never talk shit about any other artist in the electronic scene *cough* deadmau5 *cough*
>Pic related btw probably one of the best EP's of the year
>>592930804

Anyone here heard of nömak? He hasn't put out a lot but by far is the best audio engineer I have ever heard.
I saw Skrillex, Dillon Francis, Milo & Otis, and What So Not in St. Louis last year on the Mothership Tour. Good times. Got my pic taken with Skrill backstage. :)
>>592937560
3 projects? Also I wouldn't say savant is particularly innovative at all. Sure he has some bangers but I wouldn't say there is anything particularly original about them.

PRECISELY. HE'S SAYING A FUCKING MESSAGE IN THE SONG. how broken the fucking scene has become through big room and shit, how electronica has lost its soul. Yes, Sonny was first in a screamo band called From First to Last, then he went as a solo project for a short time as just Sunny Moore, thern he went onto become the producer we know today as Skrillex
Also what in the FUCK are you talking about when you say Savant isn't innovative. He is literally known for that. He constantly breaks barriers. He mixes groove, electronic, funk, etc. into his songs
The shit this man does is amazing and after hearing the fucking beauties he made like
>Redemption
>Survive
>Prelude
>Penguins
>Bananonymous
>Dancer in the Dark
>Legacy
List goes on and on
He is brilliant
Am I the only one with Flicker as the fav track?
>>592938076
Big room and the commercial EDM machine really is a big shame. If you go back and watch videos from ultra pre-2012 and like listen to old electro tracks, you start to really appreciate what the style used to stand for before endless monotonous subkick garbage.

If you don't mind me asking, why bother with vinyl if the master has already been compressed to hell, as all modern music is? You're literally getting the same thing as you would on a CD or lossless file, with slightly less frequency range.
OP i just blazed a joint while I've been listening to your Porter Robinson album you posted for the first time. Its breddy good man.
I'm listening to that song where they got that Japanese scat track thing going.. nice

I can tolerate DVBBS because they're mostly original. But fuck Martin Garrix, he's gonna fall out of the business very soon and I will celebrate. His only good song was Animals. And 9 times out of 10 the remixes are better than the original song.
>>592940696

DVBBS arent original. almost all their songs sound the same. Nigger, what are you doing?
>>592940864
Anon think of it this way
Some like to collect buttons, stamps, cars, etc.
And then there are some people that appreciate their music enough where they would like to have a collection of it in physical format
Imo, stamp collections and such are pretty pointless, but vinyl collections are actually practical
And also, it has been proven, that because of how a vinyl is structured, it will always have the best sound quality

Don't get me wrong, I have a vinyl collection myself, but it just doesn't make sense to do it with newer records to me. Older records are uncompressed on the master generally, and therefore you can experience them best in the Vinyl format as opposed to transferring them to the computer only to have them be compressed down.
But hey, if it's someone's thing, then it's just their thing. I have no problem with it at all, I was just curious.

Understandable, anon. That's a fair point.
>>592941319

I enjoy future house and deep house more than most genres because I can just listen and chill.
along with techno's slow rise, The queen of techno is gonna have a good year this year, her old school warehouse rave tour last year was spiritual
better than Carl Cox

Deliverance by Culprate.
God-tier quality production. Best i've heard.
Not for everyone since it's really experimental music and might be hard to digest at first
>>592942133

Gr8 shit mane, good taste

big room is gonna die literally right when this generation of molly poppin bros grows up
Listen here's the premise of big room, it is confined to the same unoriginal, bullshit, and unimpressive set of rules
People are noticing this, the big room sound and it's fucking retarded set of laws it follows will become oversaturated, and will fucking collapse hard
Everyone is slowly noticing this. Big room is ironically killing itself through stagnation and a lack of innovation.
Don't believe me?
>4x4 drum loop bass boosted
>overcompressed clap samples
>Sylenth1 preset melodies that anyone with an understanding of chords can make
>Fucking reverb all over that bitch
This is the formula for big room

His remix of Lorde's Tennis court nearly made me shit myself.

HOW DO YOU ARCHIVE THREADS ANON
I HAVE TO ARCHIVE THIS THREAD AS WELL
"Higher" and "2112" by Destructo are underrated tracks imo. Shit's awesome.
I'm honestly surprised people haven't tried experimenting with making modern edm more psychadelic. Considering it's an entire music scene based around MDMA, you'd think people would make like psychadelic house and such.
Am I crazy or is that a good idea?
>inb4 Psytrance
Psytrance is shit sorry kid,
>>592943266

Favourite song of IM?
Mines probably serve my thirst or even one from their new Friends on Mushrooms, Astrix on Mushrooms
>>592942577
Yeah its all good anon, i didnt want to come off as like aggressive there
It's just that it surprised me since I lost every molecule of respect I had for them or could have had for them when I heard how blatantly they fucking ripped off Borgore's "Wild Out" drop with their own shitty song "We Were Young". Same exact drop. See for yourself, Idk how they got away wiith something as obvious as that.
>>592944847

Theyre like a trance/electro with breaks like a glitch hop track sometimes.
Well Serve my Thirst is pretty peppy in the second half, and the lyrics at the end are amazing.
Now is Gold is pretty noice
Drum n Bassa was delicious
Pink Nightmares was cool and remains one of my favourites
I Shine is one track that makes me smile
Their cover on The Pretender was great
Astrix on Mushrooms is great, especially if you love trance, it extends from trance, to electro and the track is amazing
And finally, off the top of my head, Becoming Insane. Great spanish feel and lyrics are noice

>>592946456
I found them really cool at first but I'm kinda over them now.
Also Sad Machine reminds me of Nia from Gurren Laggan.
Jamie xx not really an album but worth listening so much

>them
It's a single artist.
>>592946757
Protip: Listen to the full versions of every song. Im not a fan of full songs unless its a really sweet house song. But infected seem to keep me wholly interested.
Oh, and a must listen if you have the time is the entire album of Army of Mushrooms in one through.
