Albums that are worth listening start to finish.
Provide the name of album and artist, and a brief description of the music and theme.
Tl;dr god tier albums thread
Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon. Essential listening if you haven't ever. Themes deal with mental illness and the passing if time. Rock album at its core with spacey undertones.
Continuing with Pink Floyd for the hell of it
Pink Floyd, Wish you were here
Follow up to Dark side of the moon, as a tribute to their original founding member who drifted away into mental illness, and out of the band entirely. Bookended by "Shine on you crazy diamond", a long musical piece with excellent guitar work. Middle of the album has a few catchy singles. Album makes more sense if you read the history of Pink Floyd while you listen to it. Very cool experience.
OP continuing Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd, Animals
Released as a response to punk artits calling them dinosaurs. Much more angry than previous Pink Floyd, showing anger built up at society, and between the members themselves. Possibly the most coherent and cohesive album musically, often overlooked, worth a listen.
Final Pink Floyd continuation from OP
Pink Floyd, The Wall
Pink Floyds most ambitious album, and the monster that basically broke up the band. Following the story of a fictional character named "Pink", based on Roger Waters and SydBarret's life experiences, tells a very interesting story. Read about it as you listen. Has some great stand alone songs, but is best listened to as a whole.
Four pink Floyd albums in a row? Fucking God tier thread
Daft Punk, Random Access Memories
Beautifully produced, dance and electronic roots performed mostly with instuments. A throwback to earlier house and dance music. First song reels you in. Contains some duds, and some beautiful songs, but is always entertaining.

Just went with a theme, posting more
>>591364255
Daft Punk, Discovery
A fucking master piece that even has it's own animation movie (Interestella 5555). It doesn't matter if you like electronic music or not.
Green Day, American Idiot
Modern rock opera, concept album. Great rock songs incling Green Days best song "Jesus of Suburbia". Listen to it loud and forget that Green Day has been on TRL on MTV.
Tommy is the fourth studio album by the English rock band The Who, a double album first released in May 1969. The album was mostly composed by guitarist Pete Townshend as a rock opera that tells the story about a deaf, dumb and blind boy, including his experiences with life and the relationship with his family.
Blockhead, The music Scene
I think the hender is Trip-hop or something like that. Who the hell cares about it. Hard to define, this album is pure melancholy, sadness and irony.
Led Zeppelin, Physical Graffiti
possibly Led Zeppelin's best album, a definitive piece if music at the height of their career. Hard rocking, musically sound, and emotional. Double album worth listen for sure.
OP here, love discovering new album based music, will listen through any decent suggestion. Keep them coming
"Black Album" - Metallica. Some of there best stuff is in this album and I personally would consider this a "god tier" album. This album has two of Metallica's most popular songs, "Nothing Else Matters" and "Enter Sandman". Anyway, case and point, 8/8 would recommend.

1989 Taylor Swift
Frank Ocean's Channel Orange.
A story about life and love in contemporary Los Angeles, featuring a different characters perspective in every song.
Deep Down & Dirty is the fourth studio album by the British electronic band Stereo MCs, released June 12, 2001, nine years after the successful Connected.[1] The album maintains a similar style to its predecessor with deep-groove, beatbox funk, nods to soul-jazz and gospel though music critics at the time noted it's grittier, edgier approach.
Kollektiv Turmstraße - Rebellion der Träumer
My absolute favorite album.
AC/DC back in black
Released after the death of their lead singer, tier new lead man takes over and hits like a fucking sledgehammer. Yes some of it is mindless headbanging, but god damn it's god.
Houses of the Holy Led Zeppelin
"Lateralus" - Tool
Incredible Album that should only be listened to in Album form. The songs throughout have a lot out do with spirituality and the absence thereof.

>>591365708
Stereo MC's? Really? You're not even trying. You couldn't even give it your own write up - you copied and pasted it from wiki.
Here's another copy and paste from wiki:
Critical Reception
The album was met with mixed to positive reaction from music critics, scoring 68% on Metacritic, 4 stars out of 5 on Allmusic and peaked at no 17 on the UK charts.[9] Mojo gave it 60 out of 100 and said "If all you want to do is throw the same funky shapes you threw a decade ago, this long-awaited outing will more than suffice. Otherwise, it's the same old same old".[10] Stephen Dalton from NME gave a scathing review of the album, saying "This is so grindingly pedestrian you almost feel sorry for these one-time pioneers.[11]
Ghost
The Band, The Band
Worth listening to if nothing else for Richard Manuels amazing voice. Very subtle but incredibly powerful. The night they drove old Dixie down is a highlight
dookie, some of green days more punk songs
>>591366371
Never listened to Tool really... will have to give it a try
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
Helloween, keeper of the seven keys part II
The Beatles, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
I'll be honest, the Beatles are over rated for me, but this album is worth a listen if nothing else for finding out what the hype is about. While I agree how influential the Beatles have been, their music never really resonates with me. Still, you can't be a music fan without listening to this, it's Genesis to many.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor: F#A# Infinity
2112 by rush epic album, the song 2112 is a 20 min long concept song about a man in a dystopian society who finds a guitar which were items of the past and no longer around, side two has nothing to do with side one but has great tracks like twilight zone, a passage to Bangkok, and tears

Days of Future Passed - The Moody Blues
This album is hands down amazing. The first song or two are very symphonic, but it slowly progresses into one of the most harmonious, creative rock albums of it's time. It's a concept album about a 24 hour cycle called a day

I have no problem not liking music, especially vanilla ice, but to just put down a legit artist, that has helped define what music is today, just makes look like you're a 14 year old twat.
Go ahead and say you don't like Pink Floyd, or Led Zeppelin, or The Beatles. It's ok to not like them. It's another thing to just write them off.
Half the reason you're listening to that ambient album on your beats headphones is because of artists like them.

Quite a long time ago I just sat down and listened to Dark Side of the Moon all the way through, really opened up alot of music to me. Changed my way of finding music, really searching by album rather than singles.
I grew up on albums, bought them on cassette then CD. I only listened to albums at a time and loved it. Then when the internet started up, I got to Napster and downloading a single at a time. With how slow internet was, you had to with dial up. I got used to that format of finding music till I sat through the dark side of the moon, brought me back to albums.

Armchair Apocrypha - Andrew Bird
My favourites from the album: Imitosis, Armchairs and Cataracts. Every song is worth listening to though.
>>591385177
I wasn't the guy who hated chemical romance (I don't know a damned thing about them), just the guy who pissed all over Vanilla Ice, and I stand by that. I like him as an older artist, just because he's no longer a self-loathing corporate whore. Maybe his music is good or it isn't, but at least he's doing what he wants.
Floyd isn't a really a singles band. They don't make catchy pop tunes. They practically invented the concept album, so you're expected to buckle in for the full ride. If you don't have the time for that, that's cool, but if you try, you might find it's worth it.
Love Zeppelin, too. I listen to IV at least once a week.
Is Chemical Romance really that good? If so, I'll give them a listen if you can recommend an album.

No sir.
Parachutes is nearly flawless.
The Stone Roses, every single song on this album is brilliant.

Maybe something different.
This is not a conceptual album, but it's a masterpiece. Featuring one of the best female vocalists Europe ever had. from beautiful and angry orchestral hits to the most headbanging metal.
Pure greatness
Probably not everyones cup of tea, but this album back to back is a wonderful listen. Electro influences, IDM, ambient, fans of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher might like this.

It just needs one word, "Hope".

I like squarepusher. I'll check it.
I'm curious to know what my fellow Floyd fans though of this one?

I have listened to this album thousands of times. I have 3 copies of it in vinyl because I know I will wear them out. I actually wore out my first cd.
And everyone loves trains.

I'm not a fan of ambient music, which this leans towards.
Still it was a pretty album, if not that moving.
Its worth a listen, but maybe while reading or something, not all that involving musically.
