>>590331264 The only thing obstructing 'true freedom' is the human tendency for asshole behavior. If we can figure out a way to detect and destroy those tendencies in the womb, governments will evaporate in one generation.
>>590331496 I disagree, I've seen reasonable thesis noting that the 'social contract' causes more harm, crime etc. than living without it. e.g. crime due to lack of natural social mobility. However I still think cooperative anarchy is a dream only, I just can't see how we would get to a point where it is possible to try
>>590331264 When it comes to political theory and practise, you cannot view things in absolutes. We will never have a society without oppression, but anarchy would be a society with as little opression as possible.
>>590332025 Cooperative anarchy has existed before, in large and small scale(revolutionary spain being the most famous example). The kurdish city of Kobane is being run through a system closely resembling anarchy right now, all while fighting off ISIS.
>>590332567 The Spanish situation was but a brief flowering, the infighting of 'the left' saw to that. Cooperative anarchists and Communists tend to agree, up until a point when they become diametrically opposed. Kobane, good luck to them. A special situation given through isolation. Competing against the organised politics of the rest of the world will no doubt bring it to an end when it reconnects. I'll cheer them on though, who knows...
>>590332172 >But destroying those tendencies would completely destroy the whole sense of freedom, would it not? You really need to set down a clear definition of freedom then. If you want to see a world where people can do whatever they want whenever they want... well frankly, we're living it.
>>590333336 As a side note, a seminal text for those genuinely interested http://www.amazon.co.uk/Demanding-Impossible-Anarchism-Peter-Marshall/dp/0006862454/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1420322499&sr=1-1&keywords=demanding+the+impossible
The hell we are. I can't grow or smoke weed. I can't roam the streets naked. I can't do anything without being taxed or harassed by my own or any other countries governing body, fuck the system. I am not free.
>>590333336 Let's not be cynical, the protest and discontent movements have been increasing in recent months after dipping from their 2011 peak. Capitalism will continue to crisis and people completely put off with the idea of Soviet-style revolution will hopefully find new alternatives, even if it won't be called anarchism >>590333400 Freedom is, in my opinion freedom from coercion and freedom to fulfill your egoistic and social needs
>>590335725 I don't have any freedom to fulfill my needs, I need to work 8 hours a day and even after that I barely have enough money to get by. I don't want to compete, I want to live in freedom with my fellow man.
When I see people in 40 hour work weeks, I don't think they are free. They don't notice the big picture of everything and are constantly filled with anxiety, hate, and greed. If people have all of the necessities they need (things like food, water, and shelter), they would realize they would never have to rely on anyone or anything ever again.
We gotta change the name of it going forward. We don't need governments. We don't need to be governed. We need conflict resolution. We don't need to enforce punishments, we need to enforce compromises.
>>590339160 Yes I am, 2/3 people would quit their jobs if they won the lottery, me being one of them. I am literally coerced into work with the threat of poverty and alienation. Like most people, I barely have any money to spend. But why would that matter, even if I made a decent wage I'd still be a slave all day.
>>590339125 There's more then 1 vlavor of anarchist. You've got the: > red "Anarcho Communists" (AnCom) > white "pacifists" > grey "Agorists" (market based anarchy) > pink is some gendershit nobody cares about. > blue "Transhumanist" (scifi guys) > green "primitivists" they live in huts an shit. > yellow "Anarcho Capitalists" Philosophical and market based argument for anarchy > Orange I have no idea.
I never understood Anarchy.I mean you want to live in a free world, but that would mean there are no low that restrict your actions, and that also means big Jamal can rape and kill you without any consequence.Laws may annoy people, you can hate them, but they keep you safe to a point.
