Dont start class later than 10. You will be more productive if you start your classes earlier, plus parking is much easier to get at 8 or 9 than at 11. I assume you wont have to worry about that until your soph or jr year though.

Not really, I just paid attention and studied at points of concentration and maintained a 4ish gpa. The"hour a day" thing is not universal. It's recommended for some but my way worked better for me.
