The banking system has undergone an overhaul in terms of how it is regulated, we now have large banking levys for large banks that produce billions towards economic recovery, capital buffers to protect against future collapses, better savings protection, strict executive vetting, convictions against many corrupt bankers etc. Its not perfect sure, but to act as if we haven't done anything is ludicrous.
