>new to anime
>decided to watch anime to see why people love it
>chose death note because it's popular
>one month later finished death note anime
>watched the 2 death note specials
>finished them both
>nothing left but the live action movies
>finished them at last
>now nothing left to watch
anime is addictive as fuck, help me fill the hole in my life with a new anime
In a few year after your powerlevel grows, you'll look back at Death Note and see how not so good it is.
Good luck, check out Code Geas, basically DN with mechas.
HoHo's Bizarre adventure is awesome
long story short, its about muscle bound guys in 1889 the main character is called "Jonathan Joestar" (JoJo) and he has to hunt down his adopted vampire lord brother with the help of SPEEDWAGON! and Baron Zepelli, The Hamon master!
pic related, its Jonathan Joestars granson, Joeseph Joestar (still JoJo)
Heres the first opening, make up your mind, its taken the top fpot from my anime list (code geass used to be number 1 for me)
JoJo's bizzare adventure, fuck im tired.
death note was pretty good about not making you feel like a fucking faggot when you watch it, i think the worst it ever got was with whatever the blond hair girls name was on the screen
i liked death note and a few of my other favorites OP were Shinsekai Yori, Trigun, Kill la Kill, Cowboy Bebop, Steins;Gate, Berserk, Another, Mirai Nikki, Elfen Lied, Samurai Champloo, and Neon Genesis Evangelion (mostly the rebuild movie series, but knowing the original series is good for backstory if not just a quick wiki readup after you catch up).
A few other mentions that are a little less action oriented are stuff like angel beats, accel world, welcome to the nhk, haibane renmei, great teacher onizuka, watamote
i'd honestly recommend welcome to the nhk and steins;gate starting off, check any of them i like them all
If you liked Death Note, you'll probably like Fullmetal Alchemist. Just a guess. Try the original one, from 2003, the Brotherhood one goes too deep into weeabooery.
Ghost in the Shell. Start with the first movie and follow the rabbit hole of unmatched animation, art, and story. You will have a hard time taking other anime seriously after watching the collective masterpieces of manga, film and series.
Thank me later.
Seriously, this all some weaboo shit.
Which OP most likely is if he enjoyed Death Note
Check out zankyou no terror.
I never see it mentioned, but it's really worth checking out.
Yeah that's it
Zankyou no Terror was shit and you have shit taste for liking it
i'm pretty much a mainstreamfag. i enjoyed death note, fullmetal alchemist (both original and brotherhood), guren lagann, helsing etc
This one, for anyone who've seen quite a bit of anime it's a gem :3
It was a fun show about fun things, funny reactions and Chihiro's ridiculously big bewbs
I'd recommend Blue Exorcist and Noragami
I also enjoyed Space Dandy... for the uh... story
There are of course the well known ones like Gurren Lagann, One Piece, Fairytail, ect.
Just go look at the shit on Funimation
Shit man, that thing is like level 7/8. It's fucking poison.
Fucking loved it
I watched it ages ago and i remeber giving me the feels
prob like some bitch ex gf
acctualy i only recommend
Expanded and more in-depth version.
Evangelion, FMA, and Berserk (the manga) are pretty good, if you liked Death Note you'll probably like them.
what's next? you're gonna say blue exorcist has an interesting story?
No one's suggested Baccano?
You all make me fucking sick.
Shakugan no Shana
Some fuckin shit about a school counsel is #1
Hell Girl is okay but kind of redundant
This one about some broad that's all weirded out and her parents are dead or something and she's hanging out with this college kid but is all fucked up. I don't remember it, but it was good.
Those are my personal recommendations and I think any would be a good pick.
Also welcome to NHK if you're a robot.
Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Darker Than Black
Don't listen to the fucking people in this thread. They're recommending classic, non-mainstream animes with plots only hardened anime fans would like.
Look, if you really want a mainstream anime that most people would enjoy, that has AMAZING English voice acting (because, let's face it, the Japanese voice acting is typically much better, such as with Death Note), look no further than FMA.
Cowboy Bebop is an ultra classic than no true anime fan will fail to have on their top 10 list, but it tends to be a hit or a miss due to their unique method of story telling.
Ignore all those Gundam, Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell, Blue Gender futuristic cyberpunk fanboy faggots. If you liked Death Note in particular, you likely will not care for the futuristic action virgin weeaboo shit much, since they tend to be less plot-twist-intellect-driven, and more OOHH LOOK AT US AND OUR SI-FI REFERENCES AND BIG HUMANOID GUNSHIPS BOOM BOOM WE'RE SO COOL
P.S. - Light should have won in the end.
This is another good one that cuts out all the kawaii desu desu weeaboo faggotry.
It's Higurashi no Naku Koro ni you uncultured swine.
Great Teacher Onizuka too, if you can put up with some mild weeaboo faggotry. Great plot, but moreso comedy and drama than action. Will give you a good 40-50 episodes to watch, as well as semi-feeling for what it's like to actually be in Japan, and not so much in an alternate reality. It deserves at least the first 5-10 episodes being checked out before you dismiss it due to a slow start.
Jesus Christ, is this really what /a/ is about?
I thought they were a bunch of elitist fucks who are only in over the top artsy shit.
But holy shit, just from looking at the covers I'm rolling my eyes.
If you're looking to go full on weeaboo watch K-ON, shit hits you right in the feels
And, of the super long, overly drawn out, action animes inspired by Dragonball Z, such as Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach, Bleach is definitely the best one. Specifically, if you liked the whole Shinigami plot device from Death Note, you can relate a bit of that to Bleach's Soul Society shit. You might have to lower yourself to being able to tolerate a bit more of the weeaboo faggot shit, but. Bleach has so many different, unique, unforgettably awesome characters and such a great build-up to the "final battles" with them. It reproduces a lot of that moral grey-area that was present in Death Note, where 20 episodes later the main character's sworn enemy might become their greatest ally.
Bleach, above all else, will surely give you plenty to watch. I mean, you could start now and still be watching a month later. I really need to get caught up on it myself.
>since they tend to be less plot-twist-intellect-driven
Just so you know whatever the original source is, is usually better, while using the anime as fanservice for yourself of you like the manga.. There of course exceptions, for example I liked the live action of Death Note as the best version. /a/ is elitist as shit, but to try and keep out as many retards as that can, not that it works as much as we'd like. As many of them there are as faggoty as people here as far as NO UR SHIT SUX goes, but that's because they're casual fags who haven't reached the end of this course.
no, this is /a/
a little guide:
1) don't trust /a/, their taste is shit
2) don't spoil yourself, try to read stories without knowing anything first
3) try to judge a series after reading it, not based on what you heard/read before
4) that said, don't assume something is good just because it's viewed as a classic or masterpiece (look at titanic)
5) don't look too deep, not anything has an implicit meaning and with certain exceptions (i.e: symbolism related to japanese folklore that you might not know), there's no such thing as a manga that requires lots of reflection for you to get it's message. if people say it's "too deep", they're either overanalyzing or didn't get it themselves.
6) give every anime at least a 1-2 episode chance, the intro or first chapter might be misleading.
a good anime i recommend would be Full Metal Alchemist. there's 2 series, 1 follows it's own storyline and FMA Brotherhood follows the manga, they're independent so i recommend watching both. i also recommend going with regular-movie-brotherhood, but that's personal.
Hunter x Hunter 2011 but >tfw its over
Higurashi but is kind of a tense thrillride in the second season
Clannad (AS in particular) is a must watch
Madoka Magica is a classic
Bokurano is like Madoka Magica but with mechs and hugely underrated
I'm waiting for the new translation on the novels, since the old one was...
Fuck I love this picture. 10/10 every time
>i also recommend going with regular-movie-brotherhood
You just went full retard.
Original FMA movie one of the best fight scenes of all time. OF ALL TIME.
Oh yeah, I don't know how many fags on /a/ are the same, but being at the end of that list, like whatever shit you want, no matter how bad, just don't act like a tumblr-tier retard that deludes themselves into thinking it's the best thing ever. Acknowledge how shitty some of the stuff you like is, but just don't give a fuck.
I fucking love super robot series. You should also watch Gunbuster, Diebuster, Getter Robo, Gaogaigar, Mazinger, and whatever else I can't remember. TTGL was basically a tribute to super robot stuff so there'll be stuff there.
Those are faggots though. Just like /b/ has a huge amount of faggots nowadays, so does /a/. Just like /b/, on /a/ trapfags are the worst. I prefer the /a/ loli threads though since there's no namefagging, cancerous faggots.
I want to watch anime, but there's so few I actually like. Any I try to get into just has such cringeworthy moments/dialogue. Even deathnote had ridiculously retarded moments with characters.
I miss the serious shit from Japan, like Akira and Ninja scroll.
Darker Than Black
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom
High School of the Dead
El Cazador de la Bruja
Welcome to the NHK
there's a 3rd movie called L:Save the World
haven't watched it, has nothing to do with a death note, but is apparently set in the time between the events of Death Note and L's ultimate death
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu
Midori: Shoujo Tsubaki
Mars of Destruction
>High School of the Dead
Never have I been more disappointed with a sho-
Nevermind, that shit was so fucking dumb. So hyped and such a disappointment.
That's not how you spell H2O footprints on the sand
Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu
darker than balck s1
Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin
Zankyou no Terror
Ghost in the Shell
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica
So would I, but the manga is better, and I doubt these lazy fucks will read it. Too bad tumblr ruined the TG threads. Loved the TG anime as fanservice for people who read it since the soundtrack and VAs were on point. And some of the fight scenes.
what the fuck are you even on about? i suggested a watching order, i never said it was based on which i think is best.
the order i gave is based on the fact the end of brotherhood would be the "real" ending, since it's the manga's as well, whereas the first series and the movie have their own different ending.
PERFECT TO WATCH AFTER DEATH NOTE.
The Berserk anime (both the TV series and the movies) are pretty terrible. I recommend only reading the manga (up to the end of Lost Children arc) and skipping the anime altogether.
Oh, The way you phrased it made it sound like you were recommending the Brotherhood movie over the original movie.
dorohedoro manga still better
It doesn't follow the manga because it wasn't finished when the anime started. But it is still a very good story itself, and has great soundtrack and battle scenes too.
they're both little gems
OK, let me give you my list of which anime are worth watching:
Ghost in the shell
Toppa tengen gurren lagann
Same shit happened to me, but with Shingeki no Kyojin(AoT)(Attack on Titans).
Watched all of it in one day, from 0:00am - 4:00 am and then from 1:00pm - 6:00 pm
and in the next day i saw the 3 specials. Took me 2 or 3 weeks to get this thing out of my head.
Wont watch animes again they are too fucking addictive.
i like all FMA, it's one fucking great series. but i have to say, there are some better fights than that movie one.
for one, there's this, albeit short it's nice:
and have others, like mustang vs wrath (most wrath battles for that matter), scar battles, sloth vs armstrong siblings (in brotherhood), etc...
If you loved the series, then I recommend the manga, I read it first and for me it was better than watching the series, either way if you're a fan I think you'll enjoy it.
Thinks I think you'll really like if you're new to anime/manga/like Death Note?
Attack on titan (and the anime is by the same director as death note)
Fullmetal Alchemist (original) was mentioned, think you'll like that
Here you have it guys, I'm proof of the chart of doom.
Alas, alack. I'll never get into pure ecchi though. If I want to fap, I'll fap to porn FFS.
