Hey /b/.

What are you guys drinking tonight? Why are you drinking? How is it?

Pic relevant. Southern Tier Choklat Stout. Just picked up a bomber and I'm drinking it out of a pint glass.

Flunked out of university and started at a community college this semester taking Information Systems courses. Just got done with midterms and I'm at the top of each of my classes. Taking the Network+ exam after this semester is up. Feeling real fucking good.

Celebrating with some beer.
>>
I'm usually a Guinness man but damn that looks amazing.
>>
I had jaegermeister the other day. Highly recommend

Drinking because like beer
>>
>>576052050
It's fucking delicious. It's kinda boozy with a strong dark chocolate aftertaste. 10% too. 8/10 would drink again.
>>
>>576051840
Literally just finished off a bomber of Southern Tier's Mokah. So good.
>>
>>576052386
Old Rasputin is fucking rad, bruh bruh.
>>
>not KBS

>Not Seasonal Breakfast stout.

srsly though, good choice, Doing some Zombie Dust here.
>>
>>576052662
My bottle shop was fresh out of the Mokah bombers!!! Got mine from Stone Grill in PA.
>>
>>576051840

stout bros
>>
I'm stuck with shitty Bacardi at the moment. I'm picking up a bottle of Kraken sometime this week though.
>>
>>576052780
>KBS
Breakfast Stout is the bomb too. Trying to change it up though.
>>
>>576051840
the Choklat is awesome. Don't drink the Creme Brulee unless you like obnoxiously sweet things. I couldn't finish it.

Currently drinking Elysian Space Dust IPA. The hop bill sounded good, it's not that great, but not bad.
>>
Too much beer hipsterism these days, but I'll go ahead and ask so I can get flamed.

Any suggested beers for a Guinness lover? American beers taste like piss 9 times out of 10 so I have a pretty hard time picking out a beer that isn't my tried and true. Might have to go to World of Beer one of these days and do some testing.
>>
>>576052937
I have a small local shop that sells some of the harder to find beers, half a wall of pure bombers as well.
>>
>>576052780
I was lucky to get 2 bottles of KBS last year, and it wasn't anything special, BCBS is way better and there are tons of year-round stouts that are equal
>>
>>576053032
>>
>>576051840
haven't tried this one but their creme brulee stout is the bomb
>>
>>576051840
I'm having a boilermaker with Bluemoon and Dewar's. Yeah, I know Dewar's is good on it's own but I hadn't had a boilermaker in while.
>>
>>576053358
guinness is unique in that it's a very light beer that people think is heavy. So it's not a very good place to start.

What beers have you tried? What flavors do you like/not like?
>>
>>576053358
I'm with you, man. Most people's favorite beers are some shit I've never heard of. Have you tried Murphy's Irish stout?

Loose cannon IPA. Tastes kinda dry hopped with tons of floral notes. Barely an IPA in terms of bitterness but certainly the best thing out of Heavy Seas
>>
>>576053358
Founders Breakfast Stout, if it's in your area.
Founders Porter, too. Super tasty.
DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus and Dirty Lil Freak are Demi-God Tier.
If you're in the PA area, Springhouse makes amazing stouts. They have a PB&J stout that's slamming. The Thin Mint Stout is rad too.

I've tried basically everything I can get my hands on. Being an Amerifag, it's mostly IPA's and other bullshit. I might have to get a real stout one day and see how I like it. IPA's just don't do it for me.
>>
>>576054139
I never cared for IPAs myself, they just seem bitter for the sake of bitter and hoppy for the sake of hoppy. Just out of curiosity, would you recommend anything? I wouldn't mind finding an IPA I liked.

I'm with you on this. My friends are all IPA people and I can barely get the stuff down. If it doesn't taste like carbonated water, it tastes like piss in a bottle. Any IPA suggestions?

Heavy seas is a drinkable IPA.

It considers itself an IPA based upon the excessive hopping but it is considerably more toned down than the crazy stuff out on the west coast.
>>
>>576054592
I've been drinking stouts and porters almost exclusively for the past few months because I've gotten so tired of the Hop Arms Race IPA's have started. I don't give a fuck about who can make the best hop syrup. Give me some subtle flavor! Give me some nuance!
>>
>>576054580
IPAs are an acquired taste, some people love them some hate them. If you hate the bitterness, check out some east-coast style ones; they use more fruity hops instead of going for the whole "licking a pine tree" thing the west-coast ones do.

But anyway, I'd suggest just finding a store that does a mix-a-six pack thing and checking out a bunch of different styles until you find something you like

I've been doing that. I'm an east coaster and Publix supermarkets do them for cheap. I've found some ones I can stomach but nothing that excites me sexually like the sight of the OP.

every thing southern tier makes is shit drink real beer

Shout out to all my Stout niggas

I just cant do IPAs. I need something dark

>>576055204
Two solid choices. You have good taste.

What year are you OP? Country? Howd you get that chocolate drink???

Mixed? Or are you chasing the Sam Adams with the rum? Or vice versa?

Fuck. You know what I mean.

Loose cannon is a very drinkable IPA. It is more in the realm of an American pale ale in comparison to the hop loons on the west coast.
>>
Bonus: if you can get a hold of this shit, do it. It is ridiculously good.
>>
>>576055580

NY nice. 3 philosphers for me.

Best IPA is either Fatheads Headhunter, Ballast Point Sculpin, or Bell's Two-Hearted Ale.
>>
>>576055820
Hmm, that does look tempting.
>>
>>576055592

Best I usually do is Yuengling Black & Tan, maybe their other varieties, or the very rare Sam Adams. I'll give it a try though, thanks for the suggestion.
