Oh, it's not just /b/. Virtually all of 4chan has had a drastic decrease in quality since at least 2008, with each year managing to get just a little bit worse.
The general response to this is "/b/ was never good", or some retort about how oldfags are cancer, some shit along those lines.

I'm sorry, but I don't see oldfags spamming the same unfunny joke day in and day out. I don't see oldfags crying constantly about being alone yet doing absolutely nothing to change it. I never see oldfags harp on a queen (because really there was never meant to be a queen to begin with. Cracky was a one-and-done thing done over one summer. it was just for cheap giggles.) I don't see oldfags obsess over cocks to the point where they have to have them even on females, yet will tell you (without any amount of irony) that they're completely straight.

All of 4chan has suffered with this problem of repeating the same lackluster, uninteresting threads. It may not always be cocks, but it's always bullshit. The second you make mention of it, you're called out for being a faggot.

The odd thing is that there are people who have noticed this and who openly hate on it.... yet nothing is done to fix it. Or rather, nothing seems to work. Any effort made is almost immediately squandered by the fags who (for some reason) think that fucking banana really is funny.

I will agree that there's been a massive uptick of traps, cock rating and general faggotry, but I suspect it's a change in demographics over the last decade and less of a change in the board itself.

4chan continues to be populated by teens and 20-somethings, and it's always going to be mostly a cross-section of the shit that section of the population is into.

I just think what you're complaining about is society changing and not 4chan itself.

I remember when this site was infamous for being "that really bad part of the internet" but in reality we were pretty harmless. Sure, we did raids and had cheap giggles at the expense of others but those raids were way different than the ideas of what a "raid" is these days (spamming a site with pictures of mutilated cocks a raid does name make. That's the equivalent of spraypainting "ur moms a whore" on the one side of the school where the students park. It's just not that effective, and only pisses off the wrong people.
