ITT: Your favorite artist's most overrated and most underrated song.
> Nothing Else Matters
> Trapped Under Ice
I prefer naming albums.
>Vulgar Display of Power
>The Great Southern Threndkill
>Rainy Day, Dream Away
Foster the People
>Under the Bridge
>How Soon is Now
>Vicar in a Tutu
Overrated: Saints of Los Angeles
Underrated: Red Hot
Simple guitar work, shut up you autistic faggot, this is JOHN MOTHERFUCKING FRUSICANTE
>Hendrix rip off
>not simple guitar work
> brick in the wall
>400k views on JewTube
Nope, Crown of Worms and My Creation are the most underrated by far. They were only released on the remastered versions, so few people heard them. My Creation kicks ass, but Crown of Worms is up there with my absolute favorite Megadeth songs.
Overrated: The Empryean
Underrated: Inside of Emptiness
I love Crown of Worms and apparently it wasn't included in the first release because Dave was worried about the song being controversial.
Lucretia isn't really underrated though.
Live 8 performance
What a shitty fucking band
I'll admit Anthony isn't the greatest singer, but he has amazing poetic lyrics and originally rapped RHCP songs so had to be trained to sing, which I think her does pretty well
> Skrillex - Bangarang
> Martin Garrix - Animals
goddammit I love Daft Punk
>> Trapped Under Ice
Not Dyer's Eve.
Holy shit I didn't know people still liked these faggots after the last decade of complete shit they've put out. I feel sorry for you man, you should listen to some new music. There's some sick shit from 2006+
Like this for example.
Of course metal isn't the only genre and there is great shit from every genre out there, you should do yourself a favor and start looking.
>The Wonder Years
>I Just Want To Sell Out My Funeral
Dixit the guy whose favorite band is Metallica. They stopped doing anything good after ...and Justice for all, which was already poorly mastered.
See >>561010503 .
Pink floyd is good but putting it as your favorite artist makes you a dadrocker
Mainstream pop rock garbage for little girls that is
>Cowboys From Hell
Dude, that fucking riff is a 10/10.
Pink Floyd was hip in the 70's and 80's. Music has come quite a ways since then and there are far more interesting things out there, and out even before pink floyd was picking up steam, see: Gong.
>Lel stay pleb faggot
>still only listening to pink floyd when there are millions of songs out there
Talk about pleb.
Why should I not listen to the good material of a band just because they released some shit?
Also my second favorite band:
> American Jesus
I was going to but I wasn't sure where to begin since A Tout le Monde was so different from their other stuff. >>561010080 named the two big albums.
>not appreciating pink floyd
>in a music thread
did you read >>561010949 ?
>Pink floyd is good but putting it as your favorite artist makes you a dadrocker
Your favorite band is supposed to have a lot of good albums, not 4 or 5 out of 10
>implying I'm not fucking dad right now
>implying dadrockers are not the best thing to happen since ebola
Tell Me Baby
Faggot, everybody loves Moonshield
Start by listening to Rust In Peace.
Albums. Albums, man. But it all depends on your musical taste. The media has killed Pantera. Faggots only liked Cowboys From Hell. Maybe, Vulgar Display Of Power. Fucking pussies promoted only 2 albums, and forgot about the heavier stuff.
Also... u w0t m8? Animals is like... the only techno house music who's ever played in parties.
Also guys please stop being such fucking elithist or go back to /mu/
the point of this thread is to put underrated-overrated songs.
>hurr durr i'm so special because my favourite band is tame impala or king crimson or emerson lake & palmer or *insert random band from the /mu/ core here*.
Well fuck you, you ethilist twat.
>underrated: hole blood of the nations
seriously, that album is seriously overrated, i could top 3 it everyday
>overrated: Balls to the wall
come at me. i've no way to defend this. Is just personal opinion.
>They stopped doing anything good after ...and Justice for all
thanks. have some kek
>just because they released some shit?
10 years of shit is enough to warrant me to put down a band. It's like a race horse who snapped a leg at a big race, if they don't shoot it in the head, it sure as hell isn't going to be racing ever again.
I understand going back and listening to music you haven't heard in a while, but to sit all day and listen to the same 3 albums sounds horrifically boring to me.
One third of Hey Jude's lyrics are "na na na na na". Literally. Check it. And the instrumental work is also not the best.
It's still considered one of the best songs of all time.
> Number of the Beast
> Alexander The Great
I was implying that the riff makes the whole album 10/10.
I'd say it's better than Far Beyond Driven.
Without a doubt better than Reinventing Steel.
Like, that album brought breakdowns into the mainstream, it's a legendary album man...
>Rock n' Roll All Nite
>A Million to One
...or a few dozen more
Really? Tell Me Baby was one of the main singles on Stadium Arcadium, there are far more underated RHCP songs like Turn It Again or Purple Stain imo!
>Good Ones Go
Not sure why I should be a fedora tipper, they abandoned thrash metal with the Black album and that's a pretty well known fact
and St Anger was utter shit too
Can't be serious
Doing mine now, not specifically my favorite because I have no favorite artist
>implying that it's the only thing I listen too
>implying I don't have a radio and listen to modern day pop at work
>implying I don't like that
>implying I don't like EDM
>implying I don't like classic
>implying I don't like rock
Lel fuck metal
>implying I don't like pop
Just because my fav band is pink Floyd doesn't mean it's the only thing I listen to
Eh, for me Run to the Hills has always been the more overrated of theirs, but Number is overrated. Despite it being a big song of theirs, Fear of the Dark doesn't ever seem to get much mention.
TBH, I absolutely love EVERY Pantera album. They are unique in their own way. But I hate it when stuff like this becomes mainstream and people don't even understand it.
If metallica is your favorite band, I highly doubt you've only listened to their shit less than 8 times and have over 150+ plays on half their songs on your itunes. If you didn't I'd be surprised.
That being said, it still sounds fucking terrible.
>I have no favorite artist
Edgy metal fag teenager detected.
Do you listen to hip-hop though ?
also, Sign of the Cross and Childhood's end are great
Well you'd be a fool to have only one favorite artist.
Pic related, my last 7 days - ignore the xx, I listened to this shit to remove it from spotify's discover tab
Let's break it down and rate all Metallica albums:
RL: only one good song
GI: meh (but doesn't really count though)
BM EP: good
These stats are enough to consider it one's favorite band.
liking certain music makes you a guy who enjoys listening to certain music.
Despising people for liking certain bands and feeling entitled to hate on them because you listen to "better music" makes you a elitist.
>To not raise missunderstandings, i quoted bands i like aswell.
All you do is perpetuate it and you will continue to do so while lying to yourself thinking you're anti-elitist. It isn't a thing worth giving attention to. The more you do, the more it continues to be.
Dude trust me, I know this song. I like even the "na na na na" part... I didn't say it's not overrated, anyway I agree with that it is not that excellent like people consider it to be
Bring me the horizon:
>Overrated: Blessed with a curse
>Underrated: Off the heezay
KEA : awesome
RTL : awesome
MOP : awesome
AFJA : good but underrated
BA : mediocre
L : shit
RL : shit except Fuel
GI : didn't listen to
SA : shit
DM : good
BM EP : good
I don't find this enough to consider it a favorite band
It's called being close minded. Or you could at least have one fav artist for every genre, i.e. my favorite rapper is Gift of Gab and my favorite deep house artist is Eric Prydz.
AC/DC as a favorite band, I've seen everything
>Dance with the Devil
>Fear of the Dark doesn't ever seem to get much mention.
They play FOTD all the time though. Even when they did the '83 tour they still played it.
lemaitre's one of my favorite artists.
> splitting colors
> iron pyrite
captcha: The AssedCat
all that bitching and your favorite band is rammstein..
So.. what's your recommendation? considering a call to respect people for liking mainstream bands will only make things worst
>Also what kind of music do you listen to?
Overrated = Killing in the Name (Great song still)
Underrated = Clear The Lane
Look dude, if you want to dick ride a single band, then more power to you. At the end of the day, you're the one missing out on other artists because chances are you're only listening to that one band you dick ride so hard
Idiots, I swear.
Yeah you're right, forgot about this oen
Agreed. It was pretty awesome when I saw them live though
>Doing mine now, not specifically my favorite because I have no favorite artist
Learn to read m8.
Haven't listened to R+ since like 2 years or so, but they're one of the few bands I've listened to all of their songs
lel most of u guys have horrible music taste
I'll do two...one will be an album though
>fucking recovery...this album sucks
>off the wall
actually two albums then a song.
>bonded by blood (deserves most of it's praise though)
>Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A
over rated song:
I wouldn't say Slayer is my favorite, but they still inspired an unbelievable amount of bands, and practically the entire Death Metal genre, so I'm going to mention them.
Raining Blood, obviously.
Literally the entire album of Hell Awaits. Everyone knows Reign In Blood, but so many people seem to forgot the album that started the really heavy, evil sound that everyone knows and loves (not including Haunting the Chapel.) I honestly think that's it's heavier than Reign In Blood just because it's slower and sounds really fucking evil. In particular Hardening of the Arteries and Crypts of Eternity.
Also The Final Command. So fucking fast. Speed metal at it's finest.
This is probably the best GNR song ever. I must now listen to a band i have not listened to since the mid 90's. But fuck you for reminding me how old i am
see i know what sup I'm not into metal core and i always basically look at it as the redheaded stepson of metal in that its gay and played by pussies for mostly girls. thats just my experience prove me wrong breh
Even Thom hates creep.
But I'll agree fog is a hidden gem
I have favorite bands for every genre.
But there's one band I like more than all of them.
Doesn't mean I dick ride metal, hip-hop or pop.
Just means I like one more than all the others.
>B-BUT YOURE JUST CLOSDEDE MINEDED YOU UNDERAGE FAGGOT

Overrated: Children Of The Sea
Underrated: Die Young
Shit dude. i was just listening to them.
What do you recommend me to hear?
i don't care that much about their lyrics as i have certain convictions about communism in general but... they just pump me up so fucking much.
What would you recommend me to just move my head and "cheer up"? current favourite being sleep now in the fire
I listen to ambient chillout beats, soundtracks, orchestrated stuff, and heavy bass stuff like Bassotronics, Bass Mekanik...
If I really picked a favorite, nobody would know who the hell I was talking about. lol
Attention whores feed off attention. Best way to let an attention whore die? Ignore the bitch.
Musical elitists are attention whores. That's all, try them like such and let them desperately call attention to themselves. They're the ones who'll end up being a sad shit pile because no one wants to fucking listen to music with them. Music is a social thing.
I'll listen to everything and anything. If it doesn't resonate well with me the first time but I sense something is there, I'll look into it, if that fails, then so be it, it wasn't for me.
As of late I've been listening to Robert Glasper Trio, Chris Dave, Eric Harland, nuito, car bomb, and the cure because a band I joined is playing cure covers.
I've always thought Fear of the Dark was the most overrated song of theirs
The entire Dance of Death album is pretty underrated imo
>hate that dwarf
U focking wot m8? I'll smuck ya roigt in the gabber. Bon jovi's music is fucking godlike. Don't care whether he ripped off A or sounds like B his music is solid
I'm Outta' Time
Mind sharing your music taste then ?
Killing in the name is still great tho
Recovery doesn't suck, it's meh
Great opinion mate
No I didn't even see this thread, damn
Even if you don't like their music, you'd love their live. And holy shit those flamethrowers make so much heat
What are your favorite K-Pop and vaporwave artists ?
Lithium underrated, wow
Agreed. Mastermind is mind blowing
that cover tho
Also rating every Bad Religion album for no reason.
BR EP: meh | HCHBAW: good | ITU: shit
S: awesome | NC: awesome | ATG: awesome | G: good
RFH: meh | STF: awesome | TGR: good
NS: one good song | TNA: meh | TPOB: awesome
TESF: awesome | NMOH: awesome | TDOM: meh
TN: awesome | CS EP: meh
Not at all.
You asked why it's a foolish thing to only have 1 favorite artist. I've already answered that for you. I don't care who your favorite groups are.
Every musician I've ever met, and I've met so fucking many, has never been able to answer "what's your favorite artists?" and list one person or group. It's whatever though. You do what you like.
Well. I guess you're right. I'll follow your advice for a while. I know it wont stop the hate from happening but maybe i'll see the whole situation from a different point of view.
>Also Car bomb was quite interesting. where should i start listening?
I don't really have a favorite band/artist but he's pretty cool.
Overrated: The Beautiful People
Over rated - Run to the hills
Under rated - The evil that men do
Over rated - Pull me under
Under rated - Take the time
Over rated - Enter sandman
Under rated - Leper messiah
Holy shiet man. I'd recommend all of their shit but a true outstanding song that gets ME jumping around my RATM postered room is No Shelter. Sometimes I piss off the neighbours downstairs by playing the bass solo on my bass. But holy shit man after a few Rage songs you run outta breath. I am a huge fan if you can't tell. Enjoy them!
this faggot thinks Daft Punk is better than Pink Floyd.
Yeah I know the story about the cover, it was not finished but they liked it so much they chose the model to be the final cover, the artist asked to be removed from the credits
You could have stopped here
Well yeah of course; it's fucking Rammstein. Du hast was pretty awesome with a clever use of them, I saw them for the LIFAD tour.
See near 3:20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zXe7DLPLsw
People still listen to him ?
Well they're different, I wouldn't put one above the other
No problem, I've only been listening to hip-hop since less than one year actually, but it seems like I've found some great albums
Overrated- Love Will Tear Us Apart (i still kind of like the song though)
Underrated-A Means to an End
Back in Black
Down Payment Blues
I'm honestly surprised people still consider Red Hot Chilis and Metallica their favorite bands.
Or the first album, Portrait of an American Family. I have a feeling that most of the fans doesn't even know the album... They don't really play songs from it nowadays.
They most definitely don't deserve the fame they have. It's a mediocre band at most. Page sounds like any other guitarist, and more over they ripped of a lot from other bands. The only perhaps good member was the drummer, but he dead.
I think number of the beast is pretty amazing. It's not like people rate the song as their best song either. I feel it's well rated. then again it's my opinion.
what the fuck?
Question. Do you enjoy any of these albums?
I think of it like littering. There are 7 billion of us, surely some of them are going to dispose of waste improperly. Now, the common thing to think is "well I'm just one person, this candy wrapper won't hurt anyone, there's so many of us that do it anyway, it won't hurt"
The problem is, fuck tons of people think this way and those candy wrappers are multiplied a million times over. Now turn that act of litter into an act of recycling. If one person does it, it won't do much, but if everyone decides to be responsible, there will inevitably be less candy wrappers on the road.
There is going to be stuck up cunts. If you feed them attention, they're only going to continue to be stuck up cunts. now imagine you and I turned one friend into ignoring music elitists, who tell they're friends, who tell they're friends, and everyone makes a conscious decision to avoid the attention whores? Who's going to be left to fed the unsatisfied egos? Other elitists who will inevitably argue amongst themselves over who's better and then come to hate each other and end up alone again.
I've seen it happen. I am well aware how implausible that sounds, however, it would work if people didn't fucking feed them, you know?
Car bomb only have two albums out, one of which is on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIcnc_8UxXo
and the other, "Centralia" is out on the net somewhere.
fucking douchey hipster, what do you listen to asshole?
The Beatles are the MOST overrated band in history.
They made a bunch of decent catchy pop songs but are treated as if they invented music.
>They actually have caused more damage to the music industry by turning it away from the music and more about the band.
All of their albums are just amazing, but I totally agree with you, Far Beyond Driven and The Great Southern Trendkill are just their best albums
I'd agree with the beatles but to their credit, they popularized rock music nigga.
Zeppelin I don't know if you can say that really. Bonhams drumming was revolutionary at the time and still sounds sick to this day.
I think the closest thing he has to overrated would be Battlecry, for it being the OP to Samurai Champloo and every /a/-goer swears blind on how good it is. Sky is Tumbling is still a personal favourite of mine.
Also i have some more
Stone Temple Pilots:
O.R: Vasoline (Plush deserve the fame, this doesn't)
U.R: Seven Caged Tigers
O.R: Here Comes Your Man
U.R: The Happening (ayy lmao)
U.R: Astro Zombies
O.R: Man in the Box
U.R: Don't Follow
My best friend used to listen to that bullshit. He would play the ones with the shit screaming in it. I am now convinced he did not actually like it he might have used it to repel people from him.
Not my favorite but whatever
Hooker with a penis
interested* I fucked up
I'm not really into rock actually, that's my weak spot. Listening to De-Loused in the Comatorium and I don't know what to think of it. It's not bad but it's not my thing I guess.
Yeah there's better but default 4chan, default reddit and tumblr obviously have worst taste than /mu/
RYM-core is pretty good tho
Ah I've never been to /a/ but yeah it's not a great song, I much prefer others like Araurian Dance. Ahh yeah Cise Starr is a great rapper, Letter From Yokosuka has to be my favourite!
Man in the box? Did you hear that song live with Layne? It is fuckin amazing. I would say Rooster instead, but probably something from Dirt. Facelift was not overrated at all.
when it comes to a song like that you have to consider the other popular music that was out at the same time, cause there was nothing else like it.
also saging a thread for one song> how about you check your privilage
>good to die
L.E.D Storm (ZX Spectrum version)
Have you listened to more than two of their songs?
>Little yellow submarine, Sun King, Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby, Maggie Mae, Flying, and so many more.
