It's like howard stern to me, it's funny sometimes, and i like having funny voices in the background. But it's not like comic gold or anything.

With Jon it was great! Arin and him felt like friends getting to know each other and actually trying to play games. But with Danny, it feels like they talk before they record, and won't pay attention to the games. I remember when I was still subscribed and they played a Lizzie McGuire game, and Arin would not shut the fuck up, and Danny was just laughing.

It's this for me. There was an actual atmosphere of just silliness and friendship between Jon and Arin. It didn't feel scripted, just 2 good funny friends having a good time, and bringing the audience along with them. Now it feels too artificial.

I can agree that the show was a lot more interesting with JonTron. However, I still love GameGrumps/Steam Train dearly. I don't watch them for good gameplay. I watch them for the relaxed genuine commentary. Another channel to check out is Continue. Lesser known but still hilarious

Pretty much this.
They may suck at some games, but they at least try.
Their commentary is also - for the most part - intelligent and not entirely reliant on farting into a microphone. They assume their audience is mostly intelligent, so the commentary isn't just screaming.
Their dynamic isn't stale, and the only negative IMO is that they're all gigantic weebs.
They're fighting game enthusiasts though, so that makes up for it a bit.

Probably because Dark Souls is such a different game with each build that watching someone play is always interesting. There's a lot of variables to keep the gameplay fresh.
Compare that to something like their Double Dragon Neon playthrough; In my opinion, sidescrollers just aren't fun to watch other people play. I'll open it up in one tab to hear the commentary and fuck about to do something else.
