>>559419569 Samsung Galaxy Centura Good phone, but don't like all the Google shit on it. Google makes it hard to use any browser or apps that are not Google. Have to go through Google Play to download and install most apps, and the ones on Google Play want access to everything: contacts, camera, microphone, call history, browser history, GPS location service, the whole fucking nine yards. In other words, to use an Android phone, you have to let Google in your business--ALL your business. I refuse to let that happen. I downloaded a guitar tuner app called g-strings, and it wanted access to my camera, contacts, location service, browsing history, and all that. There is no fucking reason why a guitar tuner should have access to anything but my microphone, so it can detect the pitch of the strings and interact to tell me if it's sharp, flat, or on key. That's just one example of Google's ob-fucking-session with getting into people's business. Another was when I wanted to download a ringtone. In exchange for the ringtone, Google Play wanted access to EVERYTHING. I said FUCK that. Instead, I made an audio file of the ringtone I wanted in mp3 format and used a USB cord to download the file from the computer to the phone. It works perfectly, and it doesn't send my contact phone numbers, location, and call history to Google!
On the plus side, you can disable the GPS and location service. Instead of using it to keep the time current, it is set to adjust the time according to time zone using my zip code; so it can't track my movement. There are some things, though, that the user cannot opt out of. So, if you value your privacy, pay close attention to the price you pay in terms of forfeiting your privacy.
>>559424034 dude no offense but iphones are the most pleb of any major phone. if a non chick has an iphone, it's the first indicator he's incapable of being an alpha. srs an alpha wouldn't waste his money on shit that he could get higher quality for less money unless he's a feminine bitch
The nokia Lumia 720 windows phone. IMO is a good phone for how much you pay. It's cheap, gets good cell coverage (At least where I live most phones get shit service) and it didn't break all that easy. Also performance wise so far it has out run any other phone I've bought for similar price. I paid $150 for it and its worked a lot better than phones that I've spent 200-300 on. It's all personal choice, though I do suggest this phone.
>>559426102 the hardware specs alone are worth the price, but it doesn't stop there. it's little details. for example the LED light is small and not too bright, unlike on my old S3 that would illuminate the whole room if i got an email at night. the battery life is absolutely amazing. 3 days before hitting the 15% warning with normal use. some youtubing, checking emails, whatsapp, you name it. the sandstone pattern is also something refreshing new. all in all, the phone feels and performs flagship worthy.
>>559423748 I got paranoid about sneak-and-peek tactics a few years ago (not just breaking into the house, but illegally tapping phones, intercepting e-mail, attempting to destroy computer with Worms and viruses).
I got involved with a Native American issue where the BIA was trying to force people off their land so the coal company could mine it--and move the evictees onto radiation contaminated land. A few weeks after I got involved with stopping the forced relocation, I discovered that my phone was tapped and that my e-mail was taking sometimes 2 days to arrive at its intended e-mail address. With the help of a guy at my ISP, I was able to verify that my IP had been hijacked, my e-mails were being intercepted, and my phone was tapped. This all happened way before 9-11 and the legalization of wire tapping. Also, I put TraceRoute on my machine, and traced every attempt to put a Trojan, virus, or Worm on my machine. It was happening sometimes 100 times a day. Luckily my security was such that they didn't get past my firewall. Still, they monitored my phone calls from my land line and cell phones on top of everything else. When I got a call, if I listened closely, I could hear the click on the line where the No Such Agency picked up.
The covert surveillance stopped only when I ditched my land line and moved to a different apartment in a different city. When I got land line and cell service, I got it under a different name, so it could not be traced to me. I even had my utilities put in someone else's name.
All that because I called the government down for their forced relocation and attempted murder of a group of Navajo elders. Well, I called international attention to it. That's what pissed them off. It was when I came back home from a meeting out of state with an AIM member that I discovered that my phone was tapped--illegally. This was during President Clinton and Bill's terms in office, and it has been going on ever since.
>>559426102 >Why's it special? because >it is the fastest phone currently on the market >runs cryogenmod firmware from factory >costs HALF what an S5 or comparable phones cost >despite costing half as much again has better hardware than any other phone >screen size is bigger than S5 but smaller than note3
>>559422823 >I'm curious. What is it about an iPhone that's bad? Are they just shitty quality, or is it something else? >You pay far too much for massively inferior hardware >closed ecosystem - you can only have the limited apps that Apple says you can have >the frequent updates it requires frequently mess things up and slow down older phones forcing people to upgrade more often >you don't even have a fucking back button. >tiny screens >non-removable batteries(many issues with this)
The iPhone is a phone for people who are scared of technology. Even small children might find the iPhone limiting.
>>559427003 You should have been on my end of it. It's a lot weirder when you're the target.
My gf discovered a way to get them off the phone when she was on it. When she knew they were listening, she would steer the conversation around to her period, how much she bled, how she was passing big clots of blood, and what all she had to do to stop the bleeding; shit like that. After a minute or two fo that, she could hear the click that meant they had disconnected. Then she would resume with her conversation. All the shit about her period were lies, of course, just something to gross out the guy listening in. Sometimes she would talk about having diarrhea or puking her guts out from being drunk, including how it looked and smelled. On average, she could have them off the phone and out of her business in about a minute. I resorded to buying throw-away phones and paying cash for them as opposed to a credit or debit card.
Now the bastards are everywhere, using every guise they can think of as an excuse to track everyone.
You should watch "Enemy of the State" with Will Smith and Gene Hackman. That's a pretty realistic depiction of how insidious the bastards are.
Did I mention that anyone who is sympathetic to any Native American issue is automatically labeled as a "subversive"?
>>559427908 >Who the fuck cares if you can't change the battery? >battery eventually fucks up >oh better take it to apple >"we can fix it for XXX amount of money, you might as well buy the new phone" because buying a new ~700 dollar phone is totally worth the same as buying a ~40 dollar battery if it fucks up. >32gb >enough haha oh wow.
>>559424034 >jelly poorfags detected It isn't about the money. You are just paying good money for inferior crap. Buying an iPhone anymore is like paying 80k for a Toyota Corolla. You could do a LOT better, and you are paying premium price for a non-premium product.
That isn't you flaunting your money. Thats you being a fool.
I will recommend you to buy xiaomi mi3 or mi4 (still not on sale, but you can preorder it) Very good hardware and one of the best software based on android, MIUI. Also cheaper than smartphones w/ same hardware
>>559427908 >Who the fuck cares if you can't change the battery? Because when your phone is fucking up(I know enough people with iPhones to know they do exactly that) you can't just yank the battery and pop it back in to quick fix the problem.
Because when your battery degrades and takes less and less of a charge eventually not taking one at all then you need to buy a new phone. I can buy a new battery on Amazon for a few bucks no joke.
>>559428775 the oneplusone is attractive because it's cost to be honest I might sell my oppo find 7 when I get my oneplus one. but who knows. I like the 32gb+124gb capacity option. plus the oppo find 7 can charge your phone from 0% to 75% in 30 minutes.
>>559428393 I agree with you. Wealthy people don't stay that way by throwing their money away on shitty merchandise. I have yet to see quality merchandise come out of Apple. Their focus is profit margin, not customer satisfaction.
There's an old adage that goes, "A fool and his money are soon parted."
>>559428143 Nothing's ever happened to me like that. Worst thing was the webcam being enabled on the home computer by someone because my dad didn't know how to watch porn without getting viruses. Was like 14 at the time.
I'll check out the movie I guess, even though Will Smith isn't the greatest.
>>559428074 >Holy fuck is this some kind of joke? I could ask the same question of Apple's products which you love so much.
Everything I mention is quite true. Buy hey at least you guys just got that "revolutionary" iOS update that helped you catch up with 4 year old Android OSs. >>559428476 >OH! So the iphone is the phone version of the Mac computer. Basically yes. Only if you pay enough (far too much) for a Mac you can get pretty well as nice hardware as the PC equivalent. You cannot get nearly as nice iPhone hardware as what the flagship Androids get.
Oh FYI Steve Wosniac has actually called on Apple to make an Android phone too LOL. Android does own the market so if you can't beat em then join em.
>>559419569 >Samsung Galaxy Note 3 3gb ram, 5.7 inch 1080p display, quad core 2.3 ghz processor >best phone I've ever had Got the zerolemon 10000 mah battery battery and literally only have to charge it once a week.
>>559429209 Regarding the webcam, I have one for occasional Skype use, but it stays unplugged otherwise.
Regarding the movie, "Enemy of the State", the actors aren't the real issue. It's the story line and the accurate way that they nailed it that's important. Like I said, this has been going on since the Clinton era at least, maybe longer. Now that the gloves are off, it's going to get more intense. Bet on it. Unless, that is, the people wise up and rise up and demand that the NSA, CIA, FBI, and Homeland Gestapo in general be reined in and put on a short leash.
If you want a performance flagship for about 200$&contract this is the one to go for. Galaxy S5 is also pretty nice, but LG G3 has some things to beat it:
-1440 x 2560 pixels, 5.5 inches -Thin bezels for a better fit in hand -awesome power+volume buttons on back instead of side, use it for a week, you'll hate side buttons. -Snapdragon 801, latest best chipset outside of korea.(Same as S5) -Better screen than Super AMOLED. -Better camera than S5 -3gigs ram -32gigs internal memory, 128gig expansion slot -3000mah replacable battery. -Nice LG skin, with decent addons outside of stock android.
Go for the Galaxy S5, if you want water-resistant.(it can take a dunk in the toilet, tub, sink, shallow pool, but Not a Jacuzzi or anything with water pressure, or over a meter deep)
ALSO, if you want the next gen chipset, 805, you should wait till november-christmas... the LG G3 will be international with an 805 chipset for better performance and camera processing, 40% improvement in graphics for high-end games.
For those unfortunate enough to not have Micro-SD card slots in their phones... http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=usb+micro+to+usb+adapter&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=43827539249&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8976929220194110946&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_6iuejviqjp_b
>>559429612 >Only if you pay enough (far too much) for a Mac you can get pretty well as nice hardware as the PC equivalent.
That's because the newer, upscale Macs use Intel processors now, and they have modified their OS; so they can run PC and Mac software. The Macs are still slower than PCs, but they're catching up--and catching up by easing over to PC software and processors. Funny that it's coinciding with Apples decision to make Android phones.
Ah, well...the business world needs iPhones so that Android won't be a monopoly. It's illegal in the U.S. to have a monopoly on any product or service. Also, people need it for contrast, to see how well their product works compared to the alternative.
my smartphone progression went from iphone 4 (2 years) to samsung galaxy s3 (2 years) to iphone 5s (6 months to now) played around with jailbreaking/rooting on all devices
after owning both, I prefer iphones over samsung phone, there were a lot of small issues with the gs3 that added up. comparing picture quality, the gs3 was supposedly an upgrade (in terms of MP), but the iphone 4 took noticeably better pictures. gs3 had terrible audio on videos. apps crashed more often on gs3. gs3 had horrible battery life (8 hours on gs3, iphone 5s easily lasts twice as long on same usage). gs3 had random issues that required restarts, most notably, a bug that would cause location services to be unable to find my location, so gps or navigation wouldn't work until the phone was rebooted. ios, in my experience, doesn't have any common occurrences of those issues.
to sum it up my general thoughts. android can do more, but ios is more reliable, and the stuff it does do, it does better
>>559431341 I'm roughly in the same perspective as you man. I've gone through several android phones (currently own a note 3). Android does indeed have some spectacular features that far more tech savvy than iOS. But arguably; iOS feels much more polished than Android. Out of all the oem skins, Shitwiz is the fucking worst.
>>559431341 Bullshit. My iPhone 4 is a piece of shit. Music sounds horrible and dull from headphones and the speaker. It overheats all the fucking time, is way slower than a gs3, and it doesn't do anything better than any other phone.
>>559431174 This statement is highly vague. Every intel Mac model is equipped with an Intel processor that is equivalent to that of a PC. It hasn't been recent since Apple ditched their PowerPC line, that happened almost 8 years ago.
>>559430641 That phone is too long and thin for my taste. In my hands--or pocket--it would be destroyed before the day was out. It wouldn't stand up to the kind of work I do. I don't care much for a large phone. I still use my phone as a phone. So, all things considered, that little thing just wouldn't do.
>>559431524 >Here's something important that no one ever seems to mention: Can your phone run apps from the SD card? what phone can't? I believe even the oldest android phones can run apps from SD cards. Although if storing apps on them you want to get a fast card.
I think the only phones that can't run from SD are phones that DO NOT HAVE SD card slots.
>>559431661 i didn't comment on music quality or compare iphone 4 and gs3 speeds.
i never compared the 4 to the gs3 side by side, however my girlfriend had a iphone 5 while i had my gs3, comparing the speeds of those phones side by side, same apps launched/ran roughly 25% faster on the iphone 5.
i have never had an iphone "overheat", i have had them get very hot. one time, i had my gs3 shut down for an hour after overheating on the charger. iirc, i think it reached 170*F. only happened once, and didn't seem to cause any permanent damage to the phone.
>>559422129 Wait... what does that have to do with Android? App permissions are based on the program itself, not something Google adds to everything there. There are plenty of apps on Google Play that have NO permissions. BTW, where else are you downloading from? Amazon?
