Sequelitis quickly becomes a popular video “series”, with him logically and carefully pointing out things he enjoys. It’s one of the rare times when we see Arin as level-headed as he can get. He releases them at the dawn of yet another age – the Let’s Play Era. He was lucky to have been born in time to experience the beginning of flash, but his flash quality was waning. He looked to Let’s Play as another opportunity for a fresh start. And, not including a bunch of background information, Game Grumps is formed (for Arin).

Jon Jafari is the only child of an immigrant family. He started out small, wanting to pursue reviews of video games because he thoroughly enjoyed them. He even admits in his first video that he’s “just another copycat of AVGN”, but he decides to go through with making his two-part video anyways. Immigrant children are raised strictly, to ensure that the parent’s sacrifices weren’t wasted in creating a better life for their family. Jon, however, is extremely tenderhearted. He’s just naturally soft and caring, and being pressed under the thumb of his father made growing up difficult, especially being the only child, the only focus of his parents’ attention. His parents would continually fight and scream, and Jon had to find a way to cope. He was too gentle to hurt himself, and too scared of his parents to act out. So he found the only alternative he could find – laugh.

As Game Grumps progressed, Jon was becoming disillusioned. Arin was in pursuit of monetary gain. Jon longed to go back to just being friends playing video games. Not to mention the internal warfare. As Jon became more recognized, he started to eclipse Arin as the main icon of Game Grumps. If Jon would make a joke, Arin would interrupt. If Jon would sing, Arin would interrupt. No matter what was happening, if the situation was giving Jon more attention than Arin, something bad and uncomfortable was about to happen. Of course, Jon wouldn’t call him out on it. Jon’s passive-aggressive, and would much rather swallow the bile and give himself an ulcer than be confrontational about it.

But the situation was becoming more volatile. Arin wants to sing, but he can’t sing. Jon can sing, and Arin loathes him for it. Arin wants to tell a joke, but he only knows cookie-cutter racist jokes. Jon can pull a joke out of a situation, and leave us in tears. Arin wants to play his favorite video games, but they’re Mega Man, which is essentially the same game nine times over, and not fully entertaining to watch – especially when he’s sub-par at them. Jon wants to play his favorite video games, and shows how skillful and adept he is with Donkey Kong Country, bringing with it years of nostalgia as he thinks fondly on it. Jon brought us back to our childhood, and every time he did, Arin would spit venom into it.

It’s ironic, though, because the worse Arin was, the more Jon would try to be funny and avoid conflict. But the funnier he was, the worse Arin would get, creating a circle that would spin faster and faster out of control.

During this time, Jon made a girlfriend, and she provided words of wisdom to him. “If they’re using you and being mean to you, they aren’t your friends.” I can imagine he’d reply, “But he’s Egoraptor. He’s what I looked up to growing up!” She’d shoot back, “He’s Arin. I like to think that because of his girlfriend, Jon was able to confront Arin about his antics. I like to think he was able to get out everything he needed to say, and leave. I like to think Arin acted ridiculous on camera, because he couldn’t process all the things that were yelled at him, because he’s never seen fault in himself. But mostly I like to think that Arin was finally hit with the weight of Jon’s words, because the early videos of Game Grumps with Danny show us a calmer, quieter, more receptive Arin.

I’m wrong at that last point, though. Arin was calm because the fan base hated Danny, vehemently, for replacing Jon. Arin was smiling to himself, because people were talking shit about his new cohost. It only becomes apparent lately, with a majority of the fans loving Danny and all his talent and stories, that Arin is a two-faced narcissist. Now that Danny is liked, Arin has gone back to being impossible to handle, just as he was towards the end of Jon’s stay with the show.

You can blame Arin himself, or blame Arin’s environment growing up, but when it comes to Game Grumps, there’s only one real problem.

Personally, and this is just speculation from a long time anon watcher of Jon, I felt that there might have been issues arising from alcohol use or drugs, or even just a plain bad work ethic.

Look at Jons out put for 2014. It hasn't been stellar. If I had to push a friend to constantly make videos, I wouldn't remain friends with them for very long.

Game Grumps gives me a different feel nowadays.

Like, JonGrumps seemed to cater to an older crowd(not cater, but just seemed to fit that demographic more). Kind of thing you can watch with your buddies and have a laugh.

DannyGrumps on the other hand, seems to cater to a younger audience, and almost censoring itself. I only watch it by myself really, then talk about it with other people. A lot less now though.

If my friends are over, I usually go to JonGrumps if we feel like watching GG.

It's obvious something's happened because Jon hasn't even updated his twitter to send some love to Arin's first new Sequelitis in over a year, something that he was talking about working on even during Jon's stint as a Grump.

It's been a year now - if the reason they've both maintained a low profile about each other was to give the new Game Grumps a chance to blossom... well, that's happened. Two people who are friends but just had to move away don't just ignore each other forever.

We'll never know the true story though. I very much doubt this "Arin hit Nicole" story, seems spectacularly over the top.

Then again, with the kind of money these YouTube celebrities make (PewDiePie is on $4 million a year, Game Grumps has got to be hitting $500,000-1 million), I can see why the maybe 2 or 3 people who know are keeping a lid on it. I can also see why Jon would keep a lid on it if he negotiated royalties on any video featuring him. Maybe Danny has no idea, and it's just Arin, Jon, Suzy and Nicole who really know what happened.

I wish someone would have the balls to call out Jon or Arin at a convention some day, but be able to do it in a way that isn't super aspie so they can easily be shut down. Unfortunately, it kinda is aspie in the first place to even care.

The comments telling Jon to get back to making Jontron got to him. He wanted to leave Grumps for a while. When Arin pitched the idea to add steam train Jon he realized this was his opportunity to split. He left Grumps with out discussing with Arin. It left Arin surprised and slightly bitter for he had to scramble to find a new co host for Grumps. Though he was bitter about Jon leaving they still remain friends.

Danny was never meant to replace Jon. People keep looking at him as a Jon-replacement and pointing out all the things he doesn't have that Jon did.

They're two different people with two different personalities. I liked Jon because he was funny and talked about aspects of the game he and Arin were playing. I like Danny because he is also funny, a bit easier to relate to, and his lack of game knowledge brings a fresh perspective to games many of us grew up with or play a lot of.
