Consoles communities are filled with 12 year olds because their parents bought them the console. Almost all console games are also on PC except for Nintendo's. Mods give a game new life after you've already exhausted it's inherent replay value. Good graphics don't make a good game, but when it's the exact same fucking game why not take the one with better graphics. PC allows for much more communication than consoles. There are many games that start on Console and get ported to PC, like Minecraft and Terraria, and in those cases the console versions are always ahead in features. My favorite games have always been console exclusives, but PC is the best platform. I say this from a purely objective assessment, but subjectively, consoles are better if you have friends and don't like dealing with hardware/software bullshit.

I love PC gaming. It's fucking great. I love Civilization and the Steam sales, the freedom and power, the massive amount of good games that most people will never even hear about.

But as a person who mostly games with friends, who all have zero-maintenance, zero-complication, inexpensive consoles, console gaming is the way to go. It's all about your needs as a gamer. If all my friends played on PCs, I wouldn't bother with a console.

The only exclusive I've enjoyed in the past four years has been The Last of Us. Generally PC games are better. This is coming from a console player. If the social aspect isn't a consideration for you, PC all the fucking way.

The thing about me, and I'm guessing a lot of other people out there, is that very few games actually catch my eye these days. Sure console games are pricier, but I only ever want like maybe two per year. Right now I'm playing Zone of the Enders HD, and The Last of Us multiplayer. That's it. I have Dark Souls but haven't touched it in a while, and a shitton of PS+ free games that I've never bothered to play. The point is that my attention is divided between two games, and has been for a long while. I don't keep a huge catalog of them anymore, I haven't for a long time. I'm casual. Gaming just doesn't dominate my attention anymore.

I still fucking love to play a good game. I got a PS3 for The Last of Us, and will eventually snag a PS4 for TLOU Remastered, Deep Down, and some other shit that my friends will be playing, but they don't hold my attention enough to warrant really splurging on a big fancy rig and pouring a ton of cash into Steam. Maybe one day, but for the moment I'm happy with my PS3, slowly getting ready to purchase a 4.

From FFX. If you want to raise your stats beyond the regular stuff, you need to farm stat raising items from the monster farm. If you want luck, you not only need the stat item for the grid, you also need to farm a second activation item. Every luck activation gives 4 points to the character that activates them, every fight against earth eater gives two of those drops unless its a rare drop. You have 7 characters, max luck is 255 and you start out at like 10 or so.

Oh, earth eater has very high defense and like 1.3 million hp.

Oh well there was shit like that in FF7 if you choose to do it but it was never necessary, you could play the entire game on materia and never worry about how they changed your stats.
