How about a thread about 80' revival style songs (kavinsky, power glove, perturbator etc) and visuals?
also feel free to share 80' style posters, graphics or whatever fanart. it's actually not nostalgia thread, but more like 80' art.

of course i did. ever since i played it and realised this genre is still alive, i havent listened to anything else
i always liked 80s action movies, never payed attention to the music though. and i was pretty drunk when i started playing this game by accident, made it to chapter 8 and thats where it hit me.

Quixotic (try it)
Why not just give it away for free or name your price?, i might be not the best producer or musician but sometimes there are producers that just overprice their stuff and that's not cool i mean this are hardtimes, sometimes people cant afford food or any other everyday stuff, and buying music is a luxury in these days imo
Hey glad you like it dude
Damn, a lot of the art posted brings back so many memories. I thought that airbrushed sci-fi/tech settings were the pinnacle of art, read Omni magazine and....damn, I feel so old right now. I wish I could go back in time.
I have this issue.
the cover really speaks to the thinking that the time
Or bring it back nowadays. This world need a revival age. Plus, i think we are open enough today to get this "vintage legacy" back without shame.
I do find 80' attractive. I wish i had lived in there for a few months at least.
>remember that scene
>"Like... tears, in rain"
Question, do you have the issue where some artist did illustrations of H.G.Well's "War of the Worlds?" I've been trying to find large rez scans of it, or at leas find out who the artist was for it.
I don't have that one, sorry.
I do have some pics in that genre, however....
this might be what you're looking for
luv this one
It wasn't a perfect time, but there was this mix of creativity and hope (with a bit of balancing cold war cynicism). Growing up, I honestly thought that there would be massive space stations, colonies by 2020. I was young and naive, but damn, things did look positive.
That's it! That's the one!
The thread is 5hours old /b/! congrats
Dance with the Dead 1
Dance with the Dead 2
Power Glove 1
Power Glove 2
I was 10 years old in in 1980.
If you like 80's stuff, check for "heavy Metal" magazine on the Pirate Bay
I loved the look of Marty McFly back then, i can pretty cloth myself just like him, but people would make fun of me, because today we fucking care about people's taste, which wasn't quite the case in 80', right?
People gave this much a shit? i mean look at society today. I want to say "relax bitch, you don't have to judge people nor things or tastes as you breath! just let it /b/".
thx for them quality bumps good sir!
it seems as if people had "no taste" back then. lol.
BUT, it was just like today. That is, it was important to wear the styles of the time, and to "fit in".
Not much has changed in that regard...
...but if anyone took it extremes, you'd look "weird".
The great thing about the 80's was that many things were very "colorful", and the music was often bright and optimistic
That contrasts greatly with the early 90's, which I feel was quite "dark" by comparison
readers of this thread might be interested in the "Terran Trade Authority" books, available on Pirate Bay...
Optimism comes back often when you guys talk about 80's. And what is certain is that when i listen to the 80' music style, i feel light, like dreamin of whatever shit, but imagination & creativity are always around. I can't explain that, maybe a music professor could analyse it and explain, comparing to today's music wave. But i can work and enjoy my work easely while listening to such playlist we discuss in this very thread.
Was that the time of carelessness? The world looked less "serious" back then
I guess that when people look back at the 80's, it's often through a rather youthful perspective. Anyone that remembers it was decidedly younger back then, of course.
The 80's had some serious problems and concerns in the world. Personally, I feel that the colorful pop art and music was a response to this; to enjoy life and feel carefree in the face of the cold war, etc.
Of course, the time brought about a lot of positive changes, too.
A much older person would probably have a rather different opinion of the 80's, I would imagine.
Oh it was serious, with Cold War Paranoia. It seemed like every movie featuring the Soviets had them like Cobra: all the tech, all the nefarious weapons, all he 'roided-out boxers, etc. However, in reality, there was a lot more dialogue between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, and it seemed that the Cold War was thawing. 30-40 years of fears of Mutually Assured Destruction started to fade, and things were looking positive in general. A lot of things were not all perfect, don't get me wrong. But the overall tone seemed positive with a look forward.
If i get it, the mentality was "the best is yet to come", progress on its way, and so there was hope and fun beneath the world tragedies and troubles.
Now, somehow, we've slowdown our positiv vision i guess.
That's what it felt like to me, growing up back then. There were big problems, but we'd find the solutions for them all. I guess a lot of generations have felt that way before then, but the 80's music, media and other things seemed to express it strongly.
Yes, I agree.
"Globalization" has affected the west negatively, and hence our vision for the near future.
In the 80's interest rates were insanely high. You could make 12 percent on 100 percent safe secure investments. But, it was also expensive as fuck to borrow.
Now, it's very cheap to borrow. We can also buy great things at less expense (relatively speaking).
But, it's a more competitive world now; people used to go to university because they wanted to do a specific job, or learn a specific skill. Now, it's just "expected" that everyone "goes".
The best thing now is the modern Internet/Web. You can ask a question, and get a reliable answer. We didn't have that back in the day, unless you had access to a GOOD library with MODERN books. Otherwise you had to personally know somebody with that expertise....
thx for both your thoughts on that period. Looks like there was generally a good feeling being young then, and of course artistic expressions were stating it. That's perhaps the spirit that we, today, like in those old visuals/movies/songs.
i wish we could feel that again about today and tomorrow, but the world is too fucked up now imo. next generations wont give a shit to previous ones by curiosity (thing that is vanishing imo).
NEED A VITAMINE SONG!!!
There's always reasons to be optimistic..!
If we discover things and people that make us happy and inspire us, we can use those examples to enrich our lives... they become part of us.
Yep, it's always up to us. I just hope we'll be enough "us" doing so. All i can do from my chair right now is posting as much of these songs as i can, while i work beside. I thought it could touch people today. The thread worked surprisingly great! meh glad
DUUUUUDE I have been trying to remember these books for years! I had them when I was a kid and lost them many years ago. I hope I can buy them somewhere!!! THANK YOU GOOD SIR!

Or, download them from the Pirate Bay.

Tfw I thought I was the only Betamaxx lover out there! Thanks for making one of the best threads on here, for some time now.
Nice song, have a seat
Nope you're not. I have a bazillion of bands in my playlist, but i have a lot of betamaxx, and else as well.
Also i save your pic if you dun mind.
isn't that movie in which a guy is sexually attracted to...a tv?
it's actually about a rogue snuff channel... nobody knows where the transmission comes from exactly... people are actually killed live....
but, the tv carrier also contains a signal which causes psychosis...
but, yeah, you're right
i must watch that movie, even if it looks really weird.
Legendary thread. I love you OP.
if you expect it to be weird, you'll enjoy it.
it's really a commentary on mass media, before the Web. really ahead of its time.
I love you anon
I love you with music
says 2001 on it... lol
i have this graphic novel.
"Shatter was the first commercially published all-digital comic, i.e. a comic for which the art was created entirely on the computer; as opposed to what later became the common method of drawing on board with pencil, pen, and ink and then scanning the black-and-white art into a computer for the application of color.[clarification needed] The Shatter artwork was initially drawn on a first-generation Apple Macintosh using a mouse, and printed out on an Apple dot-matrix ImageWriter. The print-outs were then photographed like a piece of traditionally drawn black-and-white comic art, and the color separations were applied in the traditional manner for comics at the time. (This is almost the reverse of the current method of drawing comics on board and scanning the art into a computer for the application of color in computer graphics programs.)"
Behold, Escape from New York!
c'mon it's related, it's approved
mfw the process to make the whole thing.
Also, you have collector stuff::
Lets get back some music in the neverending thread!
i wonder how much time it took for one illustration such this one.
But doesn't look bad, the resolution and the print were good enough not to ruin the original draw.
we know that feel
I thank you for all the people here loving it. This thread could have died within minutes, but /b/ is sometime not a faggot.
A+ thread. For those of you who missed Hotline Miami, go play that for some fantastic aesthetics, or atleast listen to the soundtrack. Most of it was by MOON, example:
If you have nice tracks by moon, but not from Hotline miami ost, can you share it.
The only other track i really like from him apart from the OST is Dust, which ironically enough is gonna be featured in the Hotline Miami sequel.
But he has released two EP's since the first game, total of seven songs. They're on Spotify.
Rain Sword again
Also /b/, if you're richfag, maybe you could try to donate to these bands, they certainly have soundcloud or bandcamp site. This kind of music should go viral.
At least, share the songs you lovedwith your friends, musicians or not.
Let there be synth everywhere!
Thread is 9 hours old!
I cant get over how fucking good this thread is. OP, you are officially my nigga!
I approve of this 80s thread!
Thx. I am darker than a nigga by now.
But I can't stay much much longer /b/. I thin i'm going to stay another hour at most. The life of the thread is already in your wands.
By the way, if some good anon would pls make a kind of "tribute" or whatever about this thread, anything, feel free to do so. I'll make screenshot for my personnal memory, cuz i had a fucking good time here with you all!
I added tons of bands to my "band search list", and i hope i gave you the taste of 80's style music and increased your playlist.
I'll keep the shit coming, but i wouldn't mind help.
you have my feels
and my b-feels
also, i still have strenght :
the dragon quotes made me more laughing than actually killing ennemies. Got Blood Dragon Day one on pc (box) cuz i heard there was a poster and the ost inside (and i loved the game as well).
posted it already >>541932331
but i aint even mad, keep bumping
Amazing thread, so much creativity and expression!! It gives me a bit of hope there's a handful of us that appreciate and spread this great art and music
mfw i wrote lifelike in my search list hours ago, and i didn't react when he posted it
your support is welcome
The Thread is 10 hours old!!!!
Not a single flaw in this thread, i even almost forgot i was on /b/, i mean the /b/ we are all used to.
I'm afraid i'm about to leave. I'll use my last strenght for few minutes i guess.
thats because im a lazy asshole who doesnt write the name of the band or the song above the link for convenience. also posted disco girls before you did
Junkie XL - Made For Each Other
As i can't do much to make a tribute to the contributers, i shall just symbolically post IDs
So i'm leaving for good. Monitoring and listening to hundreds of music all day long made me quite tired.
I'd like to believe this thread will survive forever, but i'm not a believer. I'm just glad that people here on /b/, the crappiest forum known in the world, shared such a passion for such music and art style.
I must admit, it'll be quite hard to make such thread again, not soon at least.
I hope you enjoyed it, and will enjoy it a few hours more after i left.
Your nigga OP,
Wasn't Shatter done completely on computer? I used to have that issue... could you take a pic of the first or second page, the one with the roach-like bots on the car?
Maaa nigga, you know about that good stuff!
>no Lamborghini Countach

Wrote a small tool to collect and collect links in playlist. [State from about 2-3 hours ago though]
