I genuinely thought I'd hate Smith as the Doctor... I've been made bitter by all the changes to not only the Doctor, but the Doctor's "universe" that I just assumed that he'd be another negative mark.
But instead he was probably among the more likable ones. Stories and companions aside, Matt Smith wasn't a terrible Doctor.

I've found most of the episodes with clara suck major balls, which is awful because i love matt smiths version of the doctor.

Matt Smith has some of the best and beefiest speeches that i have ever heard. It was one of his best qualities about him. The one in the pandorica opens and the one in the rings of akhaten both gave me the chills and the feels.

I started watching post 2005-DW. My first doctor was the 11th, after that I watched the 9th. Both were great, but I somehow don't enjoy the 10th doctor. He just seems way too young for the role. Don't get me wrong, Matt Smith is young too. But he appeared much more mature in his final episodes imo. I do like Tennant's dark side though.

I knew something was up when someone said "the curator is looking for you" because at the start it was revealed the Doctor was the curator. I was expecing it to be Capaldi. When he started speaking from off screen I thought "wow I never realised how much Capaldi sounds like Tom Baker."

Some episodes I felt that Eccleston was just doing his job rather than actually immersing himself in the role.

My favourite from that season is Dalek. The scene where he meets it while it's still chained up was amazing. I heard he was suffering from the flu when they shot that scene, but he was able to power through and deliver a brilliant performance.

IIRC, he had just assembled the full Key to Time, a season-long process, and it would basically give you godlike wishing powers, and he was fucking with Romana, saying something like, "Do you love me? I don't know, I liked his speech at the end. All in all it was pretty much "Don't be afraid to change, just remember who you were before". And Matts doctor was afraid of change, so I thought they were some nice parting words. Dropping the bow tie too, damn.
