Pic is OC but not related to the story
>Get dispatched to GSW to head at 3:30am
>Call is only a few blocks from the station
>Respond in the engine and arrive right after law arrives and a medic unit arrives
>I walk in and the medics have the cop suctioning the guys airway
>Pool of blood and blood smeared all over the floor
>I take over suction and take over the guys airway
>I stick the suction catheter into the hole in his face that is the remains of his lower jaw and tounge, now blown apart
>The suction catheter keeps hitting jaw bone
>See the guys jaw bone is blown into multiple pieces with teeth attached
>Suction cant keep up with amount of blood
>Guy is breathing through the blood pooling in the back of his throat, inhaling copious amounts of blood
>Medic sedates and intubates the guy
>I start bagging the guy and we transport priority to the hospital to meet airlift
>Load patient in airlift helicopter he gets taken to a trauma center, outcome unknown
>Kept finding blood on my boots for days, pants were saturated in the guys blood

Here is a story for a day we ran two back to back cardiac arrests
>On day one of a 48 hour shift
>Get dispatched to a cardiac arrest with CPR in progress
>Call is about 9 miles away
>FD arrives on scene prior
>Bystanders witness the collapse and started CPR and applied AED
>Person was shocked back by bystanders
>When we arrive, patient is conscious and alert
>We transported priority to the nearest cath lab 20 miles away
>Get back to quarters and get dispatched to another CPR in progress, FD arrives and defibs the guy
>He gets shocked back to a better rhythm but never wakes up
>Transport to nearest cath lab, guy presumably dies
