Just got about a week ago, already can do shuv it's kinda, slowly learning how to Ollie, just gotta stop being puss, and occasionally manual and try to preform nose manuals, I also found this deck wedged between a telephone pole and a pipe, anyway yeah I used to skate when I was like 13 or 14 now I'm 18 and I actually wanna start taking it kinda seriously, it is super rewarding if I do say so, I'd also like to ask some more questions about clothing and shit if you guys don't mind

I dig that you can tell just from that pic, but anyway I will like kiss someone or post my face or some shit, not that I'm amazing looking, if they can find these for me in that same color way too, also if anyone knows any skate company that sells anything with an 80s vibe to it, neon, nor hipster really, just 80s. My friend found for me a "tom cruiser" basically a cruiser board with the top gun cover on it...
>>
>>797011
i have problems landing on it and was thinking getting a 7.75 or a 8, but on the other hand i feel like if i learn landing tricks on this thing, i'll have a better style overall

Shuvs and 180s, past that you can jump around and do whatever you want.
7.5 for me is tiny. If you're into double flips, pressure flips and 90s skating in general, keep that size. But landing is going to be a pain and stylewise, the only people who came out the 7.5/90s era with style is Gino, Dill and Carroll, everyone else isn't that outstanding.
>>

I see you're just learning English, I need you to work on your grammar and composition skills as well, b.
>>
>>797011
mehh, yea i'd size up. 7.5 is like a kids board. It is all preference, but you'd probably be better on a bigger board. If you have a local shop go and stand on some boards, just to feel which one you are comfortable on.
>>
The BEST way for anyone to start skating is to start off with a size 8 cause it's fairly average, then go up or down depending on preference
>>
>>797063
They trended hard and over saturated the market with plastic boards sold for $100 dollars that benefited no one else in the industry besides Penny.

pennyboard/skateboard/longboard are the same with ukulele/guitar/bass in a lot of ways (how they're perceived, who uses them, the culture, the rivalry, etc. except guitarists dont hate bassists as much as skaters hate longboardes)

What do you guys honestly think of the following?
I've been skating for 1.5 years and my ollie technique is just now getting perfect. I managed to learn shuv its for one day, but then forgot them the next. How am I doing?
>>
>>799181
You're never too old to skate?
>>
>>799181

Do you focus on tricks or do you do something else? If you are primarily focused on tricks then that's sorta shit desu, if all you do is bowls and stairs then it doesnt really matter. Can you do any other tricks?
>>
>>799189
I got a bit of park shit in. I can rock to fakie, and drop in alright. But beyond that and a low ollie, I got nothing.
>>
>>799191
do you skate every single day? I'm honestly not the best person to be talking since I really just started skating a week ago and can only ollie, but after 1.5 years I feel like you should really be much more progressed
>>
>>799197
Naw. At most I skate 30 minutes every other day at least. This fluctuates, with some weeks having 2 hours at the skate park every day.
>>
>>799200
>>799197
same guy. It took me 3 months to get my ollies off the ground
>>
>>799200

Be more confident? I don't know what to tell you other than that with practice you will get better. If you spend like 2 hours a day skating every day for a month constantly doing tricks I'm sure you'll be fine. Watch tutorials on youtube too if you currently don't, that's what helped me learn to ollie in like 30 minutes
>>

lmao get with the times, no one cares you can flip your piece of wood when your pop is non-existent and your technique is just hilarious
>>
>>800650
The irony is that half this board's pop is nonexistent.
>get with the times
When half of skateboarding is obsessed with relatable skating which takes a nod to the early 90s era where fliptrcks on flat is acceptable, this is funny

I can half ass them consistently with zero pop like full cabs. Adding pop throws me off a little. And wallies are my favorite trick.

It doesn't matter
>>
>>804796

Like I mean what wheels do I need to pedal the least, I'm pretty lazy.
>>
>>804815
Soft wheels family

Hard wheels (100a+) are for skateparks and smooth surfaces. I found it impossible to cruise around my town with 100a cause they are crazily noisy and the vibrations get annoying. Now I have Bones ATF 80a and I'm happy
>>
>>804815
well soft wheels are better for cruising
>>
>>804818
>>804820

Thanks amigos.

Do bearings matter when it comes to cruising? I'm never going to do any tricks (wayyyy too old to learn now), I just want to zip around town.
>>
>>804824
Not really, but what probably matters the most is the size of the wheels. The bigger the wheels, the faster and further it goes. However, board gets heavier and FWIW tricks get harder.

Alternatively, get a longboard
>>
>>804824
i know that the ratvision skateboarding guy says oust bearings are the best but Tbh wheels matter more for cruising
just get some bearings that will fit your budget, no need to get fancy with em

Last do skateboards need maintanence? Like do I need to clean or oil the wheels or something every month? Or can I just forget about them? Sorry for all the questions
>>
>>804850
try not to get it wet
after maybe like a year if your bearings are acting funny you can clean em
>>
>>804850
u only need to clean the bearings every now and then (and optionally lube them) especially if you skate after rain when it's all wet. or you can just buy new ones
>>
>>804841
>>804835
>>804832
I love the Ratvision series but there's something fishy about his support of Oust bearings. In one of his older videos he was wearing a shirt for Oust bearings, and they're hardly a "big name" skate company so it's likely he's connected to the company in some way.

Also, here's a beedy0 of me assembling a new complete and dickin' around a little bit. I have a couple injuries right now so didn't try anything serious.

Am I the only one who is addicted to building new completes? I'm finding excuses to buy a new complete like every month...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuWQ7DEVfwQ
>>
>>804815
soft, bigger wheels are better for cruising, they cover more ground so you do go faster, but are less responsive

What is the best skate video ever made, and why is it Fully Flared?

Seriously, this nearly decade old video is still the pinnacle of modern street skating. Pretty Sweet was nothing more than an epilogue to Fully Flared, True was just stunt-manning besides Felipe's part, Chronicles and Debacle feel like soulless, corporate product, and Stay Gold felt unfinished.

How could any video ever knock Fully Flared off its pedestal? Fully Flared encompasses everything skateboarding should be: a commitment to style, a commitment to authenticity, a commitment to friends, a commitment to a lifestyle.

The answer is that no skate video will ever top Fully Flared. There will never be another ensemble of skaters with as much credibility and as much talent as the mid 2000's Lakai team. Every other team can put out amazing videos, but they will always feel lacking in comparison. Fully Flared feels like complete, undiluted street skating.

So much this, I see adults coaching their little kids into being good. I don't just mean showing them how to balance and how to ride, but actually like coaching them and giving them lessons. Am I the only one that thinks that is wack? It doesn't even look like the kid is having fun, it's just like an adult who wants their kid to be the next big thing, and is making them practice and learn when they are young.

IF by damp you mean damp but without splashing water, they should be ok. You can always wipe them off when you get home. Remember that water not only makes bearings rust, but washes off grease too.
