I have a 4 set of double edged throwing knives in the rear wheelwell of my motorcycle, on my keys there is a car fob that is just a taser with a cree LED I put in it. Just remember that if it's legal to carry that doesn't mean you won't get in trouble for using it, that's why I'd recommend rolled change, no one has to know you used a weapon. If you're feeling balsy you can buy a brass knuckles 'belt buckle' for pretty cheap. Also, it won't hurt to keep a crow bar in your vehicle for 'maintenance and breakdowns'

Pocket knife is probably the best thing you and EDC, though you might get in trouble for using it.

If you need to walk through a shitty neighbourhood, buy a glass bottle of something, (wine, olive oil, perrier, etc) and carry it by the neck, with the receipt in your pocket. If you have to use it, it makes a decent club, then a slashing weapon, and when the cops show up, you can make a decent argument that you were engaged in self defense.

Grappling is good, since there's all kinds of hard scenery around you can smash an attacker into.

This is not UK, but sticks are only allowed to be carried with a purpose in mind that isn't self-defense (training is a valid purpose), collapsible batons are illegal, knives are illegal after a certain length and with certain mechanisms or when they are carried for self defense and the idea of carrying a gun around is ludcrious.

Generally, the rule here is "if you carry something for self defense, you must be looking for/expecting trouble".
