How much does genetics play in brain damage in regards to boxing? Are some peoples brains more susceptible to brain damage than others?
genetics play a role in everything your body does in some way, but I would suspect in the case of brain durability the difference would be so minimal between people it wouldnt matter
It does play a bit but the biggest factor for brain damages is taking huge blows in the head. Like some guardless idiots.

Are you saying that Lyoto Machida is a guardless idiot for using his modified Karate stance?

That's what I always thought but Ali was a fantastic defensive fighter. People would say oh in his last few fights he got hit lots of times that's why he got brain damage but you have shitty defensive fighters who have long careers of taking big shots but are no where near as badly fucked up as Ali.

Doesn't machida use a guard? And this isn't boxing.
Yeh APOE gene. APOE4 makes you like 30 times more likely to get Alzheimers cause you cant break down amyloid plaques. You get the same plaques in head trauma too.

Apparently doing a hard cut to make weight leaves your brain dryer than it should be an increases damaging effects of impacts.
