Hello /asp/
What martial art would be best for someone with a tall, slim frame? (Aside from Muay Thai, I'm already learning that)
I prefer striking, but I could use a few holds/ sweeps from other martial arts.
martial arts are not limited to body types. there are all types of frames in every one
so just pick whatever you like

r u broos li ?

But one body type would still have an advantage over another body type in the same art.

Since you already talk about sweeps: Judo.
There are some throws in Judo that are very good for small people (i.e. many hip throws), but lanklets have some other throws on their side (i.e. foot throws).
Or do the usual MT + BJJ combination, being long and flexible is definately good.
I would not recommend wrestling since it's for dwarfs (small but lots of muscles).

>What martial art would be best for someone with a tall, slim frame?
Fencing.
>>754056
Nice one.
>>754022
it will also have disadvantages.
think about amateur wrestling for a second, both cole konrad the fat blob and brock lesnar the roid monkey were champions at one point. how could that be possible if only one bodytype is superior?
>>754062
>how could that be possible if only one bodytype is superior?
Because there are more factors than just body type involved.
>fat and muscle
What do you mean by "body type?"
>>754062
I think I should emphasize something in my post a little more.
>>754022
>one body type would still have an advantage over another body type in the same art.
>one body type advantage over another body type
>body type, body type
>BODY TYPE, BODY TYPE
You see, the advantage is in a category, which is body type.
A single category, which may or may not affect other categories.
Given that ALL other categories are equal (ALL OTHER CATEGORIES), the person with the advantage would be better off than the person without the advantage.
ALL OTHER CATEGORIES, that is, all of them.

Given we are talking about independent variables here.
Which we are not.
>>754095
>Given we are talking about independent variables here.
>implying
>>754006
Judo has many foot sweeps that are useful for lanklets. That would be good to combine with MT. I feel like a lot of bjj's guard game is good for lanklets too, specially if you are flexible. We got a blue belt who's a lanklet and he's so good he rivals purples, sometimes browns

endo should be fast twitch muscles
fast twitch is the explosive lift big one and done kind, slow twitch is what tall giraffe people who run marathons have
>>754145
I'm pretty sure that the image is correct.
It's more of a guideline of common patters in human form rather than a rule.
People can be tall but still have the other characteristics of the endomorph.
It also doesn't say that ectomorphs can't develop their slow twitch muscles and endomorphs can't develop their fast twitch muscles.

but muscle fiber velocity is based on the length of the fiber, longer fibers fire slower than shorter ones which is why a stocky person should naturally have more fast twitch than a llama man

uhhhggggg this wiki reads like its from someone who's knowledge of the sport is through Joe Rogan's commentary and not through someone who trains or coaches. i'll type something more in depth later. But those arctypes are to generalize and erroneous to take seriously in terms of tactics of MMA with its current ruleset and rosters
>>754172
I'll be waiting.

From a self defense perspective?
Krav Maga or a style that incorporates some of it's moves like Zen Do Kai. You will punch people in the nuts though, it's considered dirty fighting.

Is his elbow just pointing the wrong way? Shouldn't it be obvious that the armbar isn't working right?
5'3 manlet,
Muay Thai good for someone small? I dont think I'd really great sparring and I've never done anything like this so the idea of going to a combat gym place is intimidating but yea.
>>755079
Training and skill means a lot more than one's body proportions.
>>755079
According to Wikipedia, Swarm fighting is common for manlets.
>>755089
Boxing has always had my interest, just have no arm length
>>754172
Bro it's wikipedia, what the fuck are you expecting?
>>755090
That should stop you from going into Boxing.
Having one hand didn't stop this guy from becoming an MMA fighter.

This guy has no arms and no legs, but that didn't stop him from becoming a wrestler.

I thought the same thing. I'm around 5'9 with shorter limbs and I was always slow with bad footwork. I went anyways and got better and learned how to use my body more effectively to compensate for that.
Why do people let something like that stop them? There's nothing stopping you from being good or even great. Maybe you won't be world champion, but if that were the case, why do anything?

I thought I fixed that after reading that so many times.

It's funny because the "wrestler" just threw a bunch of leg kicks.
