What was so bad about 08 ? I thought it was great. The high flying ability was super fun, the brawler powerhouse showman etc abilities were really cool and let you have different ways to play the game. Extreme rules matches were extremely fun. Why is this so hated? Idk, I loved it. Its in my top 5.

Fact: This is the greatest wrestling game ever released.

All other wrestling games are shit because they treat wrestling like it's a real athletic competition and what makes wrestling fun is people working together to tell a good story.

All Stars did a great job of capturing the feel of the over-the-top personality of wrestling characters, the art style was cartoony and fun, and the gameplay was good.

HCTP is what got me into wrestling, it's that good. It struck a balance between fast-paced, arcade gameplay that you could play with friends for hours as well as graphics and in-game animations that were smooth and realistic enough to not take you out of it. And it had a huge fucking roster and a story mode that was way better than any of the SVR games

Revenge was released in the height of the nWo / Wolfpac era so the stables were a huge selling point. A big deal was made of the ability to edit wrestlers and give them a nWo or Wolfpac or whatever shirt to switch their stable and keep up with the weekly allegiance shifting insanity that was happening on WCW television.

Raven is on the cover to represent the Flock stable. While Sting or DDP or Bret Hart were obviously bigger stars, Sting's Wolfpac is already represented by Nash and DDP and Hart's WCW is already represented by Goldberg.

Yea No Mercy beats Revenge just based on features like GOAT career mode, CAW, cage matches, ladder matches, backstage brawls, entrances, etc. etc. but I still prefer Revenge for the roster and the comfy WCW style.

I really loved the roster on the game too but a lot of the sloppy gameplay was really fixed for the WWE games. If you play both it really is a big difference. I wish they could have released another WCW with same options No Mercy had. At the time of WCW Revenge, that was pretty much the GOAT time of the Bischoff WCW years.

I once made an entire roster of CAWs for HCtP story mode, I took over Raw and left Smackdown to to the E guys. My character didn't get a push until around halfway through, but then Brock Lesnar joined my show and won the belt. So I had way worse stats than him and he fucked me up. Then in January Kevin Nash joins my show, falsely claims we were eliminated at the same time in the Rumble, challenges me for my title shot at Wrestlemania, and fucking pins me. So not only did I miss Wrestlemania, but all of my CAWs did too and my brand's only match was Brock Lesnar Vs Kevin Nash. I never played with those CAWs again, they were buried beyond repair.
