Marty was unstable and told Vince he was quitting along with Shawn to go to WCW when Shawn actually had no clue or say. Vince then offered HBK a pushed singles run if he'd stay when Shawn spoke to him about it.

It was honestly bound to happen. Their irl relationship was getting pretty bad and both we're aiming to do single runs and even had an angle planned

HBK liked Marty because of how much they helped one another while starting out. They'd share everything including rooms, food, and thoughts for 4 years on the road. They never planned to stick as tag team partners and it must've been sentimental for Shawn to see Marty stick with him around for that time when other tag teams didn't even see each other outside the venue

It's too bad Marty's explosiveness got the best of him and just went to waste
