From his podcast:
> "I think he [has] got a great physique, a good looking guy, a pretty damn good worker. Storylines have been kind of on and off, hot/cold. Roman Reigns in and of himself, I think he has 'mega-star' written all over him. He has still got to find his way. He still has to climb his way up the ladder. He's built to take the road. He's always in shape. He doesn't get gassed out in his matches. There's a lot to like about the guy, so when they came out as The Shield, those three guys, him, Seth [Rollins], and Dean Ambrose, when they came out as The Shield, they were really hot as heels. And all of a sudden, they split them up. And Roman, I don't know, came out of that… All of those guys had to find their way and Vince [McMahon] kind of picked him to be the babyface and because of the response he was getting when he hit the ring. He really draws your attention. If they get his storylines straightened out, I think the kid's going to be fine. I just think they need to keep running him like they're running him. He's doing [well] in the ring. I loved his matches with AJ."
> "I think you keep him on the road that he's on and you don't turn him heel just for the sake of turning him heel to make the fans happy because you're not pushing him anymore because if you're going to turn him heel, you're going to push him even harder. Then, if you were tired of him to begin with because he was overpushed to begin with, in your opinion, then you're not going to like him as a heel either. So if he keeps going down the road in the fashion that he is, but then turns, in an organic fashion, heel, when the time is right, or just stays down the road, the kid is going to be just fine." Austin added, "he still has things to learn in the ring. He still has to work at getting to the top level, but he's a top guy, in my opinion."
>>2876958
> "Look at John Cena. Now, he [has] been on top for over 10 years and has had a [pro wrestling] career that is absolutely phenomenal, but he still sometimes has those divided chants. But, nonetheless, there's electricity in the air and everybody is engaged. And he has been able to have such a strong mindset to not get in his head and mess with him. That's the confidence of John Cena. I think that Roman Reigns has the same type of confidence and self-belief that he is going to weather those bad chants and he'll end up getting over."
> "He's starting to loosen up and show some personality and I like it. And so I'm looking forward to see Roman keep developing. To me, here's a guy who's starting to get some confidence behind him."
>>2876958
>He has still got to find his way. He still has to climb his way up the ladder.
Reminder that he debuted on the main roster nearly 5 years ago.
Joe was barely 5 months ago but he already feels like more of a star.
>>2876958
>People still think Roman will be the new face of the company
By Romans current age, Rock, Austin and Cena were all over as fuck.
>>2876958
He really should know better.
Last Monday showed again, how hopeless Roman is and how out of place he looks being in the ring with guys who actually have charisma and can do promos.
When you get utterly outperformed by fucking Brock Lesnar during a promo segment it is time to get back to the PC.
>>2876966
Yeah there's been guys thrown away in half the time Roman has had.
>>2876971
At nearly 5 years in to a main roster run Dwayne already had a show named after his catchphrase and his role in The Mummy Returns.
>>2876982
>on the 2nd anniversary of his debut, Rock won his first WWF title
>on the 2nd anniversary of his debut, Roman was sitting at home cause he hurt his asshole
noggin joggin
>>2876982
To be honest the entire company is lazy. The writing is lazy. Ignoring Roman who is terrible scripted and unscripted, the others guys aren't doing much either. Bray Wyatt, who I think has the best-scripted promo skills has gotten so fucking boring that I immediately skip till it's over. Sami Zayn, Owens and Joe keep me interested.
But yeah, people like the Rock do exist, Eli Drake is a good example
>>2877032
Bray more than most needs a clear focus and intent
WWE just sends him out to fill 10 minutes nearly every week and it's damaged his "brand" considerably.
>>2876958
>le laid back smug guy that tries to kill people sometimes
>mega-star
Never going to happen. Roman's smugness and arrogance doesn't come off as entertaining or charming, just fake and cringeworthy. He's so unnatural
>>2877078
I'd argue the opposite: the smug arrogance is natural and that's why he's so unlikable.
>>2876958
austin is no memes one of the most talent wrestlers and talkers but has always had zero mind for the "business" he is a notorious idiot and vince has held his had to success
>>2876958
Roman Reigns has got to be the most polished turd I have ever encountered in my life. I can't think of anything else that sucked more that a company insisted on pushing on its customers for a longer time.
>>2877093
Austin dragged Vince kicking-and-screaming into the 90s
>>2877032
This. Fucking this.
There's no agility in the writer's room. They all have their overly elaborate, masturbatory storylines that unfold way too slowly. One of the first rules of writing is "kill your darlings" and none of them seem to want to acknowledge anything that hits with the fans. On top of that, none of them seem to talk to one another. How do storylines not affect one another. The title picture should have at least some effect on what the rest of the roster is doing. If it doesn't, why are any of these people here?
Instead, Bray gets a brief run way after his momentum died. Roman is still being pushed as a face with overly complicated or stupidly simple writing that does nothing for no one. Seth lost all identity when he dropped the scheming and became a flat face. Joe and Braun should be complete monsters, but they get undercut left and right. They broke up a tag team that had no credentials to their name because they didn't have any other ideas. If Enzo and Cass had anything as a team, their breakup could have been epic with the emotion Enzo can produce. Instead, they blew their load early on a half-baked idea to fill a segment.
Nothing frustrates me more than these writers.
How the fuck can anyone seriously still think Roman will be the new face of the company? It's been 5 years, he obviously doesn't have it.
>>2877182
I really wanna know how these guys went from "Roman attacks Strowman after the match and tries to fucking kill him." to "Roman stands around and mumbles some shit about the Attitude Era the next night."
I fucking need to know the process there because it makes absolutely no sense from the outside.
>>2877182
The writers don't influence shit, it all depends on what Vince feels like doing that day.
>>2877208
Wrestlers, especially vets, are constantly complaining about the writers themselves. One would have to assume it's a mix of the writers being bad and any good ideas they might have getting ruined by Vince deciding to do something completely different five minutes before TV.
>>2877133
The NWO dragged Vince kicking-and-screaming into the 90s. Austin dragged him into his disastrous heel turn.
>>2876958
Of course, almost every PPV review he overrates bad matches. Vince is definitely topping up his bank account just like Jericho and his podcast.
Jericho is a bigger shill though.
>>2877238
I think it's moreso them complaining about the concept of writers rather than anybody specific.
Ryan Ward is very popular with his NXT generation.
>>2877248
>implying Vince wasn't salivating at Stone Cold no longer being the face of his company
Reminder that Vince hired him to be in the role of Cesaro.
>>2877276
Big Scripts Ward seems to be one of the few guys that really gets it, so that doesn't surprise me.
>>2877208
That points out other problems:
>Writers are spineless with no integrity and this lack leaks out onto the shows
>They have no idea how to translate Vince's "ideas" onto the screen in a coherent way which also makes them bad writers
>all of them have different interpretations or what Vince wants leading to an incoherent show
>The show is just poorly planned not allowing writers to do what they're paid for.
>>2877284
>really gets it
>had nothing to do with McMahons
I'm sure there's no connection here whatsoever.
>>2877298
>Writers are spineless
The average writer doesn't last a year for various reasons.
WWE utterly despises people who stand up for themselves.
Vince is an incoherent senile fuck and has been for a while, nobody could polish the turds that his brain comes up with.
>>2876982
Oh shit that's right.
By Romans age, Rock had turned heel TWICE and had to go face because people stopped booing him
>>2877205
Who else?
I mean, all the kids love Balor, but is that enough?
>>2877396
Balor doesn't have any charisma either.
That is their problem: They have exactly 0 guys really able to be the face of the company.
>>2877408
Balor ain't as bad as you schmucks keep saying. He's definitely got more charisma and a more likeable personality than Reigns
>>2877386
Rock's entire first run with the company had ended at Roman's current age.
>>2877411
lmao
>>2877411
>He's definitely got more charisma and a more likeable personality than Reigns
Not difficult.
I do agree that he's one of the few over babyfaces that manages to "feel" like he's overcoming the odds when he's winning. Basically, he's what Vince keeps booking the Roman Reigns character as.
>>2877416
Scary, eh? Just think of all the guys out there who were let go because they couldn't get over. I'll bet none of them had the chances Reigns has.
>>2877416
What's even more telling is if he follows the Cena route, he'll end up doing shitty films and be a part timer by 2022.
>>2877411
Having a bit more than Roman doesn't mean he has enough to be the face of the company.
>>2877441
Probably still their best candidate though.
That's not a compliment to Balor so much as a comment on the poor state of WWE faces.
>>2877446
It's a shame AJ isn't like 10 years younger or something, he would be the top candidate among the current roster otherwise.
>>2877459
I suppose so, but ten years ago AJ had a fraction of the mic skill and charisma he has now. Look at his TNA run, outside of pure in ring work, he was a bit of a crap all rounder desu. We're probably never getting another Rock/Austin/Cena
>>2877446
Balor is also 35 already and pretty battered, so he is no candidate at all.
>>2877468
2 years older than Reigns man
Holy fuck
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persona_and_reception_of_Roman_Reigns
>When the future face of your company is rejected on such a level that Wikipedia decides it can no longer contain it in ine article
>>2877430
>Basically, he's what Vince keeps booking the Roman Reigns character as.
This is probably the most frustrating thing about Reigns. He's booked as the plucky underdog, despite steamrolling everyone on the roster and rarely eating a pin
>>2877487
Yeah even Cena ate pins during the Summer of Hell
There's plenty of guys on the roster who could be in that FotC position if they were given halfway decent booking and material.
But then again, Roman would probably be able to make it too if he had that. His booking is probably the worst besides maybe Bray's and Bayley's.
>>2877482
Who is in at the top for 3-4 years now and also not the right choice.
Balor would need to be like 6-7 years younger.
http://prowrestling.net/site/2016/05/02/wwe-payback-onsite-report-roman-reigns-turns-on-fans-after-the-show-crowd-not-updated-on-enzo-amores-health/
NO
YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BOO ME
I'M THE FACE OF THIS COMPANY
FUCK YOU
YOU FANS DON'T KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOU
>>2877489
>There's plenty of guys on the roster who could be in that FotC position if they were given halfway decent booking and material.
Who?
Who has enough charisma, is good enough in the ring and young enough?
>>2877494
>As soon as the pay-per-view went off the air, Roman Reigns heeled out on the fans big time. I can’t read lips but as soon as the TitanTron went dark to signal they were off the air, he looked pissed and starting yelling at the fans. If he wasn’t using profanities I’d be shocked. I just thought it was hilarious that he was waiting for the cameras to turn off to show his true colors. He came off as a total douche.
What a cunt
>>2877489
Dude was LEGIT exposed in the ring with Joe and Brock/Heyman. Felt embarrassed for him, honestly. 2 guys that have "it" and the best talker in the business...and Poochie thrown in there because you can't have a main event with Roman
>>2877411
The only thing that bugs me is the leather jacket coming out of nowhere.
If he was just the likable irish rogue/nerd that went super-saiyan demon mode to defeat the big bads he would be Ultimate Warrior level with a a better work rate.
>>2877515
Wonder when we're seeing the Demon again anyway.
Dudes not even in a fucking feud and was missed out of the last 3 PPVs despite being over as fuck
>>2877498
I mean y'know, these are the meme answers at this point, but.
>Sami Zayn (33)
>Seth Rollins (31)
>Bray Wyatt (30)
>Neville (30)
They've all got a mix of the right stuff in my opinion, possibly Neville more than anybody. There's a few guys in NXT and 205 Live but with the latter, height starts to become an issue, but it's not like height should be an issue.
>>2877503
It was bad, yeah, but I still think they sent him out there to die with those lines. He needed to go out there and be like FUCK YEAH I KILLED THAT BITCH STROWMAN WHAT'RE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT? not mumble some garbage about the Attitude Era.
>>2877585
>but it's not like height should be an issue.
Height is always an issue. All of them are too small except for Bray and he is too fat.
>>2877610
Sami and Seth are both 6'1", dude.
And height really shouldn't be an issue. Balor's height clearly hasn't stopped him from getting over. Neville is 5 years younger, a better talker and more talented that Balor. Why shouldn't Neville be a top guy?
>>2877618
That probably isn't even their actual height and yes it is an issue for the face of the company. Seth also isn't exactly shining as a babyface.
>>2877208
The writers send the scripts to Vince for his approval. The thing is he usually asks for a rewrite. Then a rewrite for that rewrite. This keeps happening until the writers quit.
The average run of a writer in the E is 6 weeks because they get fed up
>>2877585
Sounds like he went off script a little when he dropped in that snide comment about Brock beating Joe, and Joe roasted him
>>2877636
>Zayn isn't tall enough
>>2879330
He is shorter and overall looks a lot smaller.
Cena is already on the lower limit.
>>2877610
A wrestler should be at least 6' to be the face of the company level BUT the problem is most of the wwe wrestlers now are skinnyfat and not jacked so their actual size feels a lot smaller
>>2876979
Miz went from main eventing Wrestlemania to being a midcarder in 6 months
>>2879429
He only works people into not watching the program anymore.
>Then, if you were tired of him to begin with because he was overpushed to begin with, in your opinion, then you're not going to like him as a heel either.
So much this. I really fucking hate the Reddit argument 'le turn him heel XD'. I fucking hate Roman. The WWE has soured me on him completely and I'll never be a Reigns fan, regardless of whether or not they turn him heel. He isn't getting heel heat, he's getting go away heat.
>>2879446
>go away heat
>>2879441
Hasn't held the world title in a year and is still the biggest draw. Really made me think.
>>2879429
That act is getting a little tired now we're 5 years in, with clean wins over the majority of the roster, and Roman is objectively the subject of go away heat
>>2879457
>le sarcastic autism
Check the ratings, retard. Roman has the definition go away heat.
>>2877484
>smarks so worked they edit Roman's Wikipedia page
(lol
>>2879426
Yeah, exactly. Dean has been buried hard as well for ONE 4 week feud with Ziggles that didn't immediately boost ratings and merch sales. Roman tanked ratings post WM 32 with a wellness violation and is being rewarded by retiring taker, and getting protected hard.
>>2877494
>>2877500
>throw expletives at Roman
>expect him to not fire back
Smarks are so used to fake goody two-shoes Cena who will stay silent...but with Roman not anymore.
I bet when the time comes when they feud one another they will bury all the smarks who think they are smart enough because they read dirtsheets.
>>2879463
>Everyone in the wrestling media says he's a failure, with sources to back it up
>Fans actively boo him during every entrance and match
>Fags still think it's just a few fans pissed
Hey there Reddit
>>2879469
Um, it sounds like Roman literally got worked in to a shoot, sweetie
>>2879475
>Everyone in the wrestling media
Who?
A literal who on a podcast isn't wrestling media.
>>2879475
What's happened with Reddit? They use to hate Reigns now whenever you say something negative about him you get downvoted into oblivion. I said that he looked totally out of his league with Lesnar and Joe and they fucking banned me ffs.
>>2877484
>From December 2014 to January 2015, Reigns' positive crowd reactions were diminishing.
That was during his god awful feud with Big Show. Everything about that sucked. The promos Vince wrote for him sealed his fate. Nobody could take Roman seriously after the "magic beans" promo.
>>2879482
>Austin
>Foley
>Meltzer
>Cena
Even the Rock won't even do business with him because of the reception he gets.
>>2879486
When he went over Bryan, I think that was the point of no return
>>2879482
Literally read the article hun
>>2879486
>smarks shit on Roman for beanstalk
>but not with sparklecrotch or any dumb memes some indy darling came up
>>2879487
Austin, Foley, Meltzer and Cena never said Roman is a failure, try again.
>>2879495
>sparklecrotch
Vince McMahon isn't an indy darling.
>>2879495
Sparklecrotch was absolutely panned
>>2879498
Oh yes I'm sure those people who have ties to WWE or get paid by the company will say something bad about a guy they work with
you fucking idiot
>>2879506
>have no sources to back up
>y-yyeah they be company shills
Hang yourself smark
>Doesn't get gassed
Roman puts on some alright matches but the guy does get gassed relatively quickly. Also WWE is just going to have to accept that Megastars only come about naturally
>>2879498
Foley buried Roman on Austins podcast, and Austin has said repeatedly that Roman needs to be booked better.
Meltzer has also said Roman is failing as the top guy with actually statistics and information relating to how his house shows don't draw, and how ratings have fallen dramatically since Reigns got his push.
Cena said the fans don't like Reigns because he hasn't got a good character and they don't know what he stands for, relating it back to himself and how at least people know who Cena is.
>>2879859
ok someone explain to me how this "roman is the most over guy in wwe" works
>>2879495
I love it when people call Tyler Black an "indy darling"
>>2879412
And yet he managed to do with one arm what the Big Bitch has never done with two.
>>2879446
Good thing people aren't supposed to like a heel
