Yokozuna Hakuho:
Being an active Yokozuna for 59 tournaments now, Hakuho has tied the record of Chiyonofuyi as the second most in history.

Ozeki Goeido:
Once again after the September Grand Sumo Tournament 2016 and personally for the 5th time, Goeido is Ozeki Kadoban and faces a possible demotion. Following Terunofuji in the last tournament, this is in total the 140th time.

Sekiwake Tamawashi:
Tamawashi stays at the Sekiwake rank for 3 consecutive tournaments and in Sanyaku for 4.

Sekiwake Takayasu:
Takayasu kept his rank and is in Sanyaku for 6 consecutive tournaments.

Sekiwake Kotoshogiku:
Kotoshogiku stayed at the Sekiwake rank as well as in Sanyaku.

Komusubi Mitakeumi:
Mitakeumi stayed at the Komusubi rank and in Sanyaku for the 3rd consecutive time.

Komusubi Return Yoshikaze:
Yoshikaze has been re-promoted to Komusubi, the rank he previously held in November 2015. He has returned to Sanyaku taking 7 tournaments since March 2016.

Makuuchi Debut Onosho:
Onosho is the 5th Rikishi from Onomatsu Beya to make his Makuuchi debut since the present Shisho founded it on the first of October 1994. The previous, Amuru, debutedin November 2014. He is the 43rd Rikishi from Aomori Prefecture post WWII, following Homarefuji's promotion in May 2013.

Makuuchi Debut Yutakayama:
Yutakayama is the 4th Rikishi from Tokitsukaze Beya to make his Makuuchi debut since the present Shisho inherited it on the 9th of October 2007. The previous, Shodai, debuted in January last year. He is the 10th Rikishi from Nigata Prefecture post WWII, following Shimotori's promotion in the March tournament of 2002. Yutakayama is the 9th former student of Tokyo University of Agriculture. The previous one also had been his stable mate Shodai. Yutakayama is the 90th former Japanese student sumo amateur following Ura promoted in the last tournament. It is the first time ever that a Sandanme Tsukedashi makes his Makuuchi debut.
>>
Makuuchi Return Toyohibiki:
Toyohibiki returns to the first league for the first time since November 2016, it took him 3 tournaments.

Makuuchi Return Chiyotairyu:
Chiyotairyu is back in Makuuchi after 2 tournaments.

good stuff. never watched sumo but i'm bored in the beach house and this looks interesting.

>turn terunofuji into the top heel by ending kotoshogiku
>book a kise injury angle
>instead of letting the heel go over and let kise get the big babyface win at the next tournament they bury the freshly turned treunofuji to a hurt kise

Who books this shit?
>>
>>2642613
Haven't been following the news and first time I even realized there were sumo threads on 4chan. What's up with Kisenosato? Has he recovered from the injury he got at the last tournament?
>>
>>2642920
He's not absent as of this moment. They predicted a month recovery time, if that estimate is correct he's healthy but didn't get much practice time in.

Unlikely that estimate was correct though.
>>
http://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2017/05/12/sumo/kisenosato-ready-begin-bid-third-straight-title/
>>
>>2643873
Who's your money on for winning?
>>
>>2645987
The entire top division is likely still injured, I don't think I could confidently bet on anyone at this point. Hakuho or Kisenosato are probably the safest bets in my mind though, everyone is hoping for some magic from Takayasu too and that would be interesting.
>>
We are overbooked in yokozunas and after 10 years of not having at option, the YDC is so ready to tell any Mongolian who gives them a chance to fuck off

Harumafuji and /ourguy/ kakuryu need to so very well this basho or they are gone
>>
>>2647092
4 Yokozuna at once have never lasted more than a few tournaments in the past, we're probably gonna lose one soon
>>
>>2647094
Hell, even Hakuho might be in danger
>>
>>2647103
Wouldn't surprise me if he pushed for whatever last few records he wanted to hit and then retired. His injuries have really been bringing him down though.
>>
>>2647106

The last significant record he's missing is already gone for him this year and thus forever: The perfect year (6 bashos) that Assahoryu did 10 years ago
>>
>>2647111
He's only 4 from most tournaments at the rank of Yokozuna, which I think he could do
>>
Day 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2Iq_45Z2d0
>>
>>2647092
They shouldn't have made Kisenosato yokozuna. Winning one tournament doesn't make you a grand champion.

I get they really wanted a Japanese yokozuna but it still wasn't right.
>>
Sumo is back. Awwww yeah

>>2647840

We've been through this. He did deserve it as his record has been comparable to Kakuryu and Harumafuji for the last 2 years. And he backed it up last time too.
>>
>>2647997
All that means is Kakuryu and Harumafuji should have retired. Not that they should have promoted another to yokozuna.
>>
>>2648042
>Kakuryu and Harumafuji should have retired

No they shouldn't. They both won two tournaments each while suffering from injuries. Only once wining less than 10 bouts
>>
>>2648042
I don't love that they lowered the bar bit Kakuryu's promotion but honestly Kisenosato has proven himself. You'd have no Yokozuna left if you made them all retire after a day 1 loss.

Takayasu on his second Ozeki promotion run. He needs 10-5 for consideration and anything above that for a sure promotion.
Can he do it?
>>
>>2648684
I think it's now or never, he's pretty much the only upper ranker without a serious injury, his chances are good
>>
>put Kisenosato over and put the strap on him
>job him out in the first match the next ppv
Who books this shit?
>>
>>2648684
There are a couple new faces who he can probably beat, and loads of people are injured. Now or never.
>>
>only 72 yokozuna in history
>/sumo/ actually defends having 4 active at the same time
>>
>>2649018
If they're all performing to their rank, there's literally nothing to complain about. If they don't, they'll retire.

I don't see why it would bug you so much.
>>
Day 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7XdR99z2jk
>>
>the hot MILF with the red and black hair is back in the audience again

YASS
>>
Takayasu is legit
>>
>>2648684
He should be able to but he's picked up Kisenosato's habit of choking towards the end.

He's healthy and literally all of the yokozunas and ozeki are rolling with injuries so if there was ever a time to tear it up its now.
>>
>>2649018
waka/takanohana + mushashi + akebono were all active at the same time
do you not defend that?

Takayasu's tachi-ais are brutal recently. flashbacks to last basho where he blew hakuho back at tachi-ai.
>>
mitakeumi is /myguy/
>>
>>2651054
Shit i remember that. Sent him back like 3 feet with a fucking shoulder blast. Steamrolled Goeido the same way.

>>2651070
Ikioi is my husbando but i like Mitskeumi too. Looks like a good kid and he's been killing it lately.
>>
Takayasu has rocket fuel in his heels, Jesus Christ.
>>
>>2651070
Hakuho will always be my favorite. The notion of a foreigner who somewhat plays up the stereotype of being a barbarian went to Japan, the most xenophobic country in the world, and has absolutely dominated the national sport to the point where all the record books had to be rewritten is rather hilarious to me.
>>
>>2653374
Asashoryu was definitely /asp/ approved in that way. He constantly pissed everyone in Japan off by acting like an asshole.
>>
>>2647997
We've been through this. He SHOULDNT have been made Yokozuna and it was BLATANT favoritism by the YDC.

He did a very honourable maiden basho, but that happened after the fact

>>2648684
Thats pretty much a sure thing
>>
Also, wtf happened to Kaisei... oh man

>>2651070

He will be an Ozeki for sure
>>
>>2647997
>We've been through this. He did deserve it as his record has been comparable to Kakuryu and Harumafuji for the last 2 years. And he backed it up last time too.

Ridiculous. He choked in every single yokozuna race and when he finally wasnt part of it he wins a basho and gets promoted only because 1 basho

Most unworthy promotion ever

>>2648683
Kisenosato has proven himself

Only after the promotion, which makes your point moot
>>
>>2654329
>gets promoted only because 1 basho

He met the same criteria as Kakuryu, 1 Yusho and 1 Jun-Yusho back to back. He's been putting up very solid numbers for years and is insanely consistent. He puts up better numbers than both Harumafuji and Kakuryu and was doing so as an Ozeki.

Having a tendency to choke only delayed his promotion, that doesn't make him undeserving.
>>
Day 3: https://youtu.be/-YQQ_ntXmzE
>>
>>2654628
At no point did Kisenosato look to be in control of the bout. Chiyonokuni was way too eager after yesterday's kinboshi and that was what cost him the bout.

Same could be said about Tochinoshin. Why try to change the grip? he was way too impatient from what it seem a dominant position.
>>
another btfo tachi-ai from takayasu.
>>
God I almost had an heart attack from laughing after looking at Chiyoshoma profile photo in the sumodb. I can picture someone new to sumo wondering how such a guy is maegashira 2.
>>
>>2654326
Kaisei is obviously still badly injured. In a weird position where he can't compete at all at the top, but is still too good for the lower divisions.
>>
>>2654730
That fucking shoulder blast is insane
>>
Takayasu is officially /myguy/. What a beast. He is setting himself up for an almighty henka though

Day 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmWrFBCo1AU
>>
Lots of interesting matches today.
>Ura - Tochinosin
>Takayasu - Mitakeumi
>Endou - Kisenosato
>Takekaze - Aoiyama
>Terunofuju - Chiyoshouma
>>
>>2648684
After day 4 it is clear he will win again one of the sansho, if he makes more than 10 wins, so he will be the next Ozeki for sure even if he only does 10-5.
>>
Ura needs to stop with the meme sumo. It's looks cool when it works but can't see him being successful in the long run
>>
>>2658586
As far as I can tell, his meme sumo works because he
>has excellent balance
>is fast
>actually has solid non-meme Sumo which allows him to expand on it with meme Sumo
>>
Fuuuuuck that toss from Takayasu was beautiful
>>
pretty good sumo today, those throws were nice

I liked Hakuho's little slap of frustration when he couldn't get his left arm grip.
>>
Kisenosato i Kakuryu should retire.
>>
>>2658511
That was one hell of a flip from Ura. Takayasu still on god mode
>>
>>2658633
Indeed. Really showed the difference between a veteran and an almost rookie.
>>
>>2658993
takayasu is only a few years older than mitakeumi. and although mitakeumi only debuted in 2015 he was still doing sumo in college before then. I wouldn't consider him much of a rookie.
>>
>>2658734
They still have some time to make up for their lacklustre performance, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of them retires soon.
>>
>>2658993
Skillwise you can tell he really should be an ozeki. There's no way you can tell me he's not at least an equal to Goeido.

He just needs to not choke at the end.
>>
Very strange way for Endo to win. He slipped and everyone thought he was out (himself included) but quickly recover to win the bout. Kisenosato acted like an amateur and instead of continuing the bout just assumed it was over. No very Yokozuna like.
>>
>>2659156
Fuji and Goeido are on the way out. /ourguys/ Mitakeumi and Takayasu are on the way
>>
>>2642613
Based im going to watch this shit
>>
>>2659575
Nah he saw Endo recovered and tried to get the slap down on his hands but Endo was able to push through it and Kise had lost the momentum.

But if you look at his hands he clearly tries to get a slap down after the slip.
>>
>>2658511
That Kotenage from Tochinoshin was unreal
>>
Day 5: https://youtu.be/OwJYBvDzt2I
>>
Shaping up nicely with the 3 unbeaten guys
>>
>>2660903
Poor kise so obviously hurt. Had to work so hard for that
>>
>>2661276
Barring injuries and fatigue that's a tough 3 to beat. Harumafuji is easily one of the smartest wrestlers in the game, Takayasu has been on fire lately, and Hakuho is a living legend.
>>
>>2661720
I think it's fair to call Hakuho the literal greatest of all time.
>>
It's painful watching Kisenosato wrestle atm.
>>
>>2661745
Yes.
Someone should tell him to just quit the basho and heal properly.
>>
Karuryu is done?
>>
>>2661751
Kakuryu
>>
>>2661751
Depends.
Is the injury real? then no.
Is it faked to save face? then for sure will get the visit of some NSK officials telling him to get his shit together or retire honorably.
>>
>>2661766
I'm pretty sure it's fake as fuck. He looked fine until now.
>>
>>2661772
Don't you worry.
The NSK will know for sure and act accordingly.
>>
Osunaarashi is fucking it up on Juryo. He ain't going back to the top division next basho.

Gagamaru is doing fine for now.
>>
>>2661751
Probably. I was guessing Haramafuji would be the first to retire but he's turned it around last few tournaments.
>>
>>2661788
Harumafuji always seems to be able to get his ass in gear when he needs to. He obviously doesn't want to retire yet and is showing everyone he doesn't need to.
>>
>>2661736

For sure
>>
>>2661780
He seemed badly injured last basho. Still hurt?
>>
>>2662304
IIRC he's got bad knees, had surgery and has never fully recovered. A pretty common story in Sumo.
>>
>>2660903
Day 5 Proper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb6I0YE5Q4k
>>
>>2661780
Are the lower divisions worth watching? I've only ever watched top.
>>
>>2662418
Juryo is definitively worth watching.
You get to know up and comers and also follow the progress of rikishi that dropped from Makuuchi.
>>
>>2662418
>>2662432
I agree that Juryo is pretty good, plenty of Juryo fighters have been Makuuchi regulars. Up and coming new faces too. Below Juryo the quality of sumo drops too much to be worth it though in my opinion.

Maezumo can be a laugh sometimes though, watching the beginners get up on the dohyo for the first time and screw everything up.
>>
>>2661873
What he's losing in physical ability he makes up for in experience, instinct, and mental clarity.

He's using his brain and technique to win more bouts rather than power. You can see the difference watching the maegashiras try to fight out of troubleand watching him take his time to assess the situation and figuring out his best course of action.
>>
>>2662309
I haven't been watching that long, but I wish it wasn't so detrimental for these guys to take a basho off. You can't heal a fucked up knee in two months.
>>
>>2662519
new to sumo what's wrong with taking a tournament off?
>>
>>2662526
Counts as 15 losses, if I understand correctly.
>>
Yokozuna can't be demoted, which is why you see them withdraw when injured.
>>
>>2662529
damn
>>
>>2662529
I thought they count as absentses.
>>
>>2662566
Still fucks up your rank.
>>
>>2662526
The last injury system they used was abused, most notably by Asashoryu who was caught home in mongolia playing soccer while on injury leave.

So they ended it completely, if you don't show up you drop in rank as if you had lost the matches. Rank is directly tied to income and privileges.

I personally think we're nearing the snapping point though, there's just too many injured men in the top divisions and it's hurting the sport a bit.
>>
>>2662608
I don't want to look over the banzuke but it seems like half of makuuchi is hurt, and the guys who aren't are all pretty young.
>>
>>2662741
You're right, nearly everyone is carrying some kind of injury. They all try to hide it so their opponents don't know.
>>
File: hurt.jpg (130KB, 304x450px) Image search: [Google]
hurt.jpg
130KB, 304x450px
>>2662608
I completely agree. Not that Kotoshogiku would have had a better record but pic related. Everyone in the top division is covered in tape, and is usually limping away from losses.

The human body (especially heavy ones) take time to recover from injury. These guys should only get a 1/4 loss from time off to encourage them to recover and not have to retire early.
>>
Tamawashi was damn well prepared for that tachiai
>>
>takayasu lost
>mitakeumi lost
Not a good day for my guys but at least Hakuho won.
>>
>>2663636
Hakuho beat the shit out of him. Must have lost to him last time or something.
>>
>>2663658
Yeah he lost their last meeting. November I think?
>>
>>2663705
He really doesn't like to lose to rank and filers. Or to anybody I guess.
>>
>>2663658

Hakuho is a cheeky cunt these days with the slap and elbow combination. I think it is poorer form than a henka
>>
>>2664023
>implying a henka is poor form
>>
Why there is no 205 division?
>>
>>2664455
Because Sumo just wouldn't be as much fun without matches like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9ZzyH7h1Qc
>>
>>2664177
I think you can justify it some when there is a large size difference or the rikishi is injured. For guys who should be a good match it's pretty lame.
>>
>>2664023
its not, like at all
>>
>>2664455
Divisions of skill are far more entertaining than divisions of weight.

You get to watch guys like Ura and Ishiura come out with meme sumo beat guys twice their size.
>>
>>2664921

Well it should. Henka is legitimate technique. Throwing punches is just dirty.
>>
Day 7: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf41FGniv9k
>>
>>2665409
I don't think you know what a punch is
>>
>>2665845

Punch, elbow, all the same. It's not proper sumo
>>
Day 7

https://youtu.be/Lf41FGniv9k
>>
Damn, Mitakeumi and Kinenosato are popular. Wonder if this one will end with Harumafuji vs Hakuho or if Takayasu still has a chance.
>>
Kotoshokigu should have retired before he got demoted. Guy has been an Ozeki for as long as I've been watching sumo and to watch him end his career an injured wreck is painful.
>>
>>2666318
Yeah this sucks. I thought he'd retire after losing rank, but it looks like he needs to get busted down at least once more.
>>
>>2666318
>>2666469
The situation is absurd. He even owns a kabu. There is zero reason for him to remain active. To be fair he came very close (1 bout) to regain his Ozeki rank and I do think he had the right to try but once he failed he should have retired immediately.
>>
>>2666535
I feel bad for him, since he lost it getting henkad by a hurt opponent, but if he was Ozeki he would still be doing terribly this basho and end up kadoban.
>>
>>2666535
This why I dont understand why he keeps going. He is never going to be ozeki rank again nor is he probably hurting for money. The only thing he is doing is tarnishing his late record and busting up his already injured body more
>>
>>2666991
The end of his career won't be remembered though, it's pretty common for these guys to keep trying longer than they should. He must really love Sumo, it's bittersweet.

He'll always be "Ozeki Kotoshogiku" when he retires though.
>>
>>2665905
and who put you in charge of defining what proper sumo is?

striking with a closed fist is not allowed, striking with an elbow or forearm is and has been widely used by many wrestlers long before Hakuho. If it was so terrible and contrary to the sport there would be a rule against it, there isn't.
>>
>>2666991
you're right, but its actually a pretty common thing for guys in sumo to stick around longer than they should, then retire after badly embarrassing themselves. I don't know why, maybe its pride, maybe its vanity.
>>
>>2658586
He is doing pretty well. If anything he's adapting to Makuuchi better than Ishiura

>>2661751
Not yet but in real danger

>>2662418
Juryo can be very interesting. The best example are the careers of Ishiura and Ura, who won with insane kimarites that they cant do in Makuuchi because of heavier weights
>>
>>2666535
>>2666991

If he had retired inmmeditaly after losing his chance to regain ozekihood he would have been critiziced as well. I think he did the right thing in having one more basho as sekiwake
>>
>>2668972
I think if he goes double digit losses he should definitely retire after this basho though.
>>
Day 8: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdEJAyeWlNA
>>
>>2669587
Won me for seconds, haha, at least I can add commentary which for some reason, we never do when posting the link (?)

- The meme rikishi battle has definitely been won by Ura over Ishiura. We will not be seeing crazy kimarities like in Juryo, but he is clearly to stay and is adapting his sumo to deal with the big boys
>WHY WE HAVENT TALK ABOUT HOKUTOFUJI YET? He his on a clear road to sekitori or higher. He reminds me of Mitakeumi, who gets namedropped now, but it was clear he was a talented one even when he didnt had hair long enough to do his ponytail
- When Toshinoshin grabs the mawashi he is invincible, almost on hakuho-tier
- I like it when sometimes, just sometimes, Aoiyama shows he is more than a better successful version of Gagamaru. Last basho he did a henka and now today was impressive
- This might be one of the last basho, if not the last to be decided on a good old one Hakuho vs Harumafuji. At least one of them will be retired by the end of the year by the YDC and their ridiculous decision to add a 4th yokozuna
-Sure, everyone talks about imminent Ozeki Takayasu, but Tamawashi is also starting his own run...

You forgot

- Terunofuji lifting of Mitakeumi. If new people wonder how was Terunofuji before his injuries then watch this bout.
>>
>>2669624
You are right. 2 years ago we thought he would be the new Hakuho

>And Oosunarashi was gonna be an Ozeki :_:
>>
>>2669605
Liked Hokutofuji last basho too, we'll have to see how he handles the upper ranks when he gets there.

>>2669631
Still rooting for Osunaarashi, I hope he can get back to Makuuchi.
>>
Sumo wrestlers use steroids?
>>
>>2669708
Unless he can rehab those knees I don't think so.

>>2670208
They are not tested for anything, so I assume they use steroids and growth hormone, for recovery if nothing else.
>>
>>2670247

I'd love to see a huge HGH American Football player try his hand at sumo. Of course technique is most important but he would have a big speed and strength advantage.

Yeah, I want to see a full on roid monster strongman give it a go.
>>
>>2670208
Really don't see how they can continue to perform through injuries without it.

Tochinoshin's knee is basically in a cast.
Harumafuji and Kotoshogiku are basically being held together by tape. There's no way Harumafuji goes 8-0 without some assistance

Tbh it would be stupid for them not to, considering they're not tested.

>>2669631
>>And Oosunarashi was gonna be an Ozeki :_:
try being an Amuru fan
>>
>>2675796
He's not willing to cripple himself by wrestling on hurt joints. I admire that.
>>
Day 9: https://youtu.be/fGgLLuG2ZFc
>>
>>2676572
Looked like Harumafuji buckled his knee in the replay, but he didn't seem hurt. Scary
>>
>>2676693

didn't seem hurt? He's got a serious limp. doesn't look good at all
>>
>>2677396
I guess I'm just used to them all being total wrecks. :(
>>
Is there a more meme Rikishi than Endo?
I just cannot phantom why he is so popular on moonrune land.
>>
>>2677855
I heard it's because the housewives think he's handsome.
>>
>>2677859
he was also looked at as this phenom who was gonna take sumo by storm and become the first japanese yokozuna after such a long gap
>>
>>2677977
lol
>>
>>2677855
I like him because I imagine him saying "this is the endo my friendo" before each bout.
>>
>>2677977
LOL
>>
>>2677859
This is really it, he has a bit of talent but it's mostly that people think he's cute. He always has pink towels at the side of the ring and you can usually see female fans holding up pink towels when he's on the dohyo.
>>
buimp
>>
How many active Rikishi are there in the Makuuchi divison?
>>
>>2680734
Nevermind--just checked on Wikipedia.
How do you die-hard Sumo fans remember all the fighters names/stables if there's so many?
>>
>>2680738
Same way as with any sport.
I bet you knows lot of soccer players and in which team they play or the equivalent in american football.
I am sure if you watch, say, 3 consecutive bashos you will know for sure the Yokozuna and Oseki and from there you will expand your knowledge.
>>
>>2680738
Besides faces and body differences, many of them have unique mawashi colours or little things they do when entering the ring.

All the white guys stand out pretty hard and are easy to remove too.
>>
Day 10: https://youtu.be/h95ekO8QlsU
>>
>>2681210
A lot of head-first charging opponents out of the dohyo today. It is like if the rikishi sync mentally or something.

Highlight bouts are the Ozeki ones.
>>
>>2680738

I find it harder to recognise and remember them compared to other sports. No team kits and a lot of similar names. And you only see them for a few seconds each day.
>>
Just started watching this Basho. Very fun for me to watch, had more wrestling aspects than I knew.

Who are the favorites around here? I find them hard to recognize still honestly. The names are mores similar than the faces.
>>
>>2681808
Ura, King of Meme Sumo. Little guy in pink who uses rare techniques to win

Takayasu, likely the next Ozeki

Hakuho, the legit best ever even though he's getting old
>>
Who is heaviest rikishi, Aoiyama?
>>
>>2682273
Sumodb says that:

Orora is the heaviest active

Aoiyama is the heaviest in Makuuchi

Until last basho Gagamaru was the heaviest in Makuuchi now in Juryo.
>>
So Harumafuji is not so injured after all.
Terunofuji looking good again

Tommorrow Ura vs Shoudai should be good.
>>
Ura all day
>>
How you can watch this shit, after fixed march tournament?
>>
>>2682939
Maybe because it was back on 2011 and also because for the first time the NSK got serious about stopping it and expelled more than 10 rikishi.
I have been watching Sumo for a long time and there were period when it was ridiculous to the point of knowing for certain that a rikishi making kachi-koshi that didn't have a chance to win the basho was going to loose the rest of his bouts (around 1991).
We are very far from those days my friend. There will always be cheaters on any competition but if there are any right now in sumo they are certainly very few to the point of not affecting the competition.
>>
>>2682939
The kyokai to their credit did a very good job of rooting out all the troublemakers and instituting new rules to prevent those behaviors in the future. Every major spot has had it's scandals, what's most important is how the scandals are dealt with. I think the Kyokai handled it well.
>>
>>2682408
He was clearly avoiding putting weight on the right ankle. It's the same one that's been bothering him for the last two tournaments.
>>
>there's a rikishi named Hattorizakura who's 1 for 67 in his career
>>
>>2682298
>>2682273

Takarafuji and Inchinojo are often the heaviest in Makuuchi as well, weights tend to fluctuate by up to 15kg between basho.
>>
>>2684325
IIRC this guy is part of a Heya with an open door policy, anyone can come and compete. He's a real skinny kid and will probably never gain weight, but he really enjoys competing and his family supports him.

It's kind of heartwarming desu
>>
>>2684915
He's 155 pounds at 5'11" and has been at it for a couple years. Gotta eat big to get big
