The exact moment that wrestling died
>>
Nah, WWE died with Chris Benoit, he took it to hell with him. We just keep watching to fill a void in our lives.
>>
>>2212737
Once you take a step back and realize that Vince wanted Orton to be cheered for winning, you'll laugh knowing sending out Reigns at 30 was the only way possible.

WWE is fucking stupid
>>
>>2212796
Or
Or hear me out
Finn Balor returns.
Gets his huge babyface injury return pop, wins, and gets his chance to regain the title he relinquished on the biggest stage of them all.
Yes you, and majority of /asp/ won't like it, but the majority of fans will.
>>
HEY PEOPLE IS EXPECTING FOR SOME SAMOA BOB TO ENTER TO THE RUMBLE.. HAHA IM SURE THAT MEANS ROMAN. HE IS FINALY OVER GODDAMMIT HAHAHA
>>
>>2212737

>Entire rumble was trash
>Smarks choose to focus on Roman

That was the icing on the cake
>>
>roman somehow starts becoming endearing and less booed so let's kick into gear and make him number 30

bravo vince, bravo
>>
Does Taker have to feud with everyone who eliminates him from the rumble?

Why does he take things so personally?
>>
>>2212855

Lol does vince hate him or something? Either turn him heel or just stop doing stuff like this that gets him mega heat.
>>
>>2212859
because the rumble is his only shot at getting out of the undercard at mania
>>
BBDWTS
>>
>>2212737
The 'you can actually pinpoint the second' Botchamania ending will appear again. Did they forget that Rey Mysterio got booed for the exact same thing? If Rey Mysterio can't survive the crowd how the fuck is Reigns being #30 going to do it?
>>
>>2212882

>>

>>
>Reigns works redditor/wooo kiddies just by his entrance alone
He truly the best heel of all time!
>>
>>2212867
I am starting to think hes booking Roman like this so people cheer Cena more as a result. Look at how the reactions to Cena have gotten more positive since Roman went solo. The more "I dont like you" tone to the boos Roman gets now is what Cena used to get. Now the ones John gets are more part of the gimmick and people having fun with him. It also helps how much better Cena is at working the crowd too in that regard.

Vince may like Roman. But dont ever forget how much he LOVES Cena.
>>
>>2212867
i think he's just leaving the possibility of him and cena turning heel once he dies in case the business goea in shambles by the hands of steph, shane, or haitch
>>
>>2212737
Agree. I mean they showed that they dont care about the rules as long as it puts Roman in the spotlight.

>>2212837
>but the majority of fans will.
No they wont.
>>
>>2212837
He's fucking injured you mong
>>
How did undertaker get into the ring so quickly?
>>
>>2212859
He let it go when Brock did it
>>
>>2212991

>>
>>2212991
Im just happy they had him do the dark teleport instead of making him walk down that long ass isle for 10 minutes.
>>
>>2213049
I was sitting ringside and literally saw it with my own eyes. I provide ya with scientific photographic evidence and dis how ya treat me.
>>
>>2212737
Tell me this, sports fans. I'm assuming in kayfabe the rumble participants are decided before the damned show starts.

So, in that case - what if Roman had have one his match? Then he'd be entering at #30 as the WWE Champion, hoping to win and challenge himself for the WWE Champion at Romanmania.

Great writing, WWE. Keep up the hard work.
>>
>>2213171
Roman by the rules wasnt suposed to be in the Rumble (Because he had a title match that night) so because of that who the fuck nows?
>>
>>2213195
I there really a rule saying that if you have another match that night you can't be in the rumble ? i'm pretty sure I once saw someone else have a title match and still enter, like Miz or Ziggler for US title or whatever.
>>
>>2212859

He's a literal mark
>>
>>2213235
Let me just open up my rule book here....
>>
>>2213235
No i mean the big belts (Universal and WWE championship), low card belt champions can participate.

Roman has his Universal title match so he had no business to be there.
>>
>A million reasons why the rumble sucked
>Choose to focus on Roman

Lol the best heel dare I say in wwe history?
>>
>>2213171

How I've always understood it is if your name gets called you go in no matter what.
>>
>Angle, Joe, Finn, Nakamura, Omega, fucking DDP, the Blue Meanie, Benoit, Stang, Harry Potter, Bilbi Baggins, New Jack, Festus, Terry Crews, Shaq, Trump, Hogan

Nah, toss Dillinger in at 10 LOL GET IT and round it off with Ramen, even though he was just in a title match an hour ago.

Also let's throw in all three members of New Day, Enzo, Ellsworth, Apollo, and Pasty Mary Poppins just because. Dillinger is enough of a surprise at 10 LOL GET IT for this year.
>>
>>2213260
I meant a rule that was mentioned by WWE at some point and that I had totally forgotten.

>>2213282
true that usually big belts champions don't participate, but I fail to see any reason of why they couldn't.
>>
>>2213355
Because the Rumble is supposed to be for a match for the big belts with the bonus of being at WM (Not all Rumble winners ME WM), Reigns already had his shot and still people would had rather see AJ on it.
>>
>>2212737
>lost title match
>be rewarded by commissioner that hates you by being given #30 spot in rumble
>>
>>2213288
Rest of the Rumble was actually serviceable until Roman soured the whole thing

>Lol the best heel dare I say in wwe history?
Yes, but not by WWE's design
>>
>>2213399

>serviceable

What part? Please explain to me what serviceable thing happened in between the time Strowman got eliminated to when Brock showed up at like #25 or something.
>>
>>2212855
Ironic considering how loud the boos were when Roman came out.

The last 5 really killed the rumble for me.
>>
>>2213355
I think it kills Kayfabe a little bit. All 30 entrants are supposed to be set prior too the event, especially number 30. To have him lose the UC title match and still be in the Rumble implies prior knowledge that he was going to lose vs. KO. If I were to book a way to have Roman go out #30 it would have been Triple H getting ready to go out as 30 in the back, Seth attacking him and injuring him and Steph having Seth escorted from the building, pan to next to Steph Roman walks up to her and she says "Just go out there" to him and she goes to tend to Triple H.
>>
Imagine getting to hide under the ring for a few hours

Pee in a bottle, dick around on your phone, take a nap, etc

Must be relaxing

That was worse though. With Rey, there had been a 2 year long natural progression of Daniel Bryan from contender to Top bandage, period.

With this one, WWW decided to kill all momentum with Bork and Goldberg, then Taker, while everyone else lays on their ads for 5 whole minutes, then Cherry on top Roman at 30 after already having a match. And then RkO. They went with the least shitty choice in the shittiest of ways

Roman's real name is Joe, and he's Samoan.

I gave you exactly what you wanted dammit!
>>
>>2213491
This just doesnt helps Reigns reputation at all.

Really if he goes over at Mania then Reigns will NEVER get off that heat.
>>
>>2212851
To be fair, this has been one of the better rumbles, with the exception of Enzo and Ellsworth, everyone who entered were given their 5 minutes of fame. Seeing Braun clear the ring was fantastic and really put him over as a monster heel, the way he was eliminated kept him strong as well, it wasn't just "bigger man throws Braun out" like they did with Brock.

Only issues for me was, Apollo Crews and Roman Reigns were wasted spots for more deserving people. Apollo is a literal who at this point and, as for Roman, I don't think anyone who participates in a main title match should ever also be in the rumble. It makes no sense. We're meant to suspend our belief and think it was possible for Roman to win, and if he did, Roman would have come out at 30 confused wondering if he could challenge himself at Wrestlemania.
>>
>want to make roman your top face
>have him come out at #30
>have him eliminate taker in his home state who is getting cheered wildly

Hmm...I bet Vince will still make Roman the face in this feud. He's as out of touch with reality as Trumpetty.

I had a raffle with 5 of my friends for the rumble. We each drew 5 numbers, those being our wrestlers and whoever wins wins the pot.

I had 28 and 30. Nearly broke my foot marking out for Goldberg. Then he got tossed, but I still had 30. I was so fucking hyped for who it could be. And then that faggot came out.

Seriously I was praying to lose just because I couldn't stand they wasted such a moment on that cocksucker.
>>
>>2212837

That would be the dumbest shit ever.

Why would he need to win the rumble for a title shot? He doesn't need to prove anything, he already deserves a shot because he didn't lose. Also normies have seen Balor wrestle like 2 matches, he wouldn't have been the biggest win pop.
>>
Perhaps they're turning Roman heel for the Taker feud. I don't see them turning Taker heel. Also helped Orton get over as the winner because they were probably worried he'd get booed if he eliminated someone else last.
>>
>>2213590
Vince doesn't spelling mistakes.
>>
>>2213619

I just watched one a few hours ago.
>>
>Seth loses his spot to Sami before the show begins
>No spots left for him to take
>Roman loses his title match

Makes no logical sense if you were to assume wrestling was real. Why didn't AJ get a spot as well? Whose spot did Roman steal if Seth wasn't allowed in?
>>
The best part of the rumble was when Brock came out and tossed Deanetty out straight away.
>>

Because Undertaker matches don't need a title on the line to be significant when it's at mania. Why waste the title on that when you could use it to elevate a different match that needs it more?
>>
>>2212855
dude, putting roman at #30 was a big middle finger to "the WWE universe" and technically some kind of swerve...

...but then they did ANOTHER swerve to subvert our expectations of LOLROMANWINS by going with "hey maybe this will remind people that orton is kind of really a pretty fucking big deal"

and in the end we get what we've REALLY wanted, no needed, but were too shitheaded to admit: Cena vs Orton 48: this time it's personal!
>>
>>2213794
>when you could use it to elevate a different match that needs it more?

Rumors are Goldberg is beating Owens at Fast Lane and Brock vs. Goldberg will be for the title. Does that feud need a title in your opinion?

Cause for me it makes more sense if Taker beats Reigns at mania or vice versa, but then again I don't run WWE and come up with dumb decisions like, "Send Roman out at #30"
>>
>>2213789

huh? no, i just answered your question (albeit it somewhat indirectly) --- the taker stuff was a "big deal" so it could do the whole "make roman look strong" thing that's been mandatory for the last ~5yrs or whatever.

No, that is the match that least needs a title so I would be disappointed if they do that. I think Owens Jericho should have the title because that's what they've been building and it acts as a good catalyst to make them turn on each-other.
>>
> This was one of the better Rumbles ever with lots of storylines, built around the key people. Final four were Orton, Reigns (No. 30 in), Wyatt and Jericho. Reigns used a Superman punch to knock Jericho out. Reigns threw Wyatt over the top leaving Reigns and Orotn. The last three eliminations took about a minute.

Pretty sure mania main-event refers to the last match. Though I can see how Gillberg and Brocketty go on last.

I'm not a Roman mark by any means, but if he had to enter (and we all knew he would), #30 was perfect, especially for you Roman haters.
by coming out at #30, he destroyed your smark dreams of Samoa Joe/Kenny Omega/Kurt Angle, plus he's fresh and is Vince's boy, so you assume the worst and expect him to win, but he doesn't.

more than anything I'm optimistic about Randy winning. he's been on a really good roll lately, he's engaged and has been putting in good work. so, either he's in with AJ/Cena/Ambrose, which should be good and can legitimately go either way, OR, maybe they picked Orton because he's a safety net, they intend to put the belt on a guy they aren't totally sold on, and if he doesn't take off running by Mania, they just flip it to the trusty veteran as a reward.

You're out of your goddamn fucking mind if you think this year's lackluster rumble has anything on two of the WOAT's in the back to back wammy that was 2014-15. At least this year the winner sent fans home happy.

The single most insulting thing is that they managed to make the Rumble's focus center around Roman again for the 4th straight year, when it wasn't bad enough the whole damn thing focused on him last year where he took a nap for half the match. Now he's being given a Taker match at Mania where he'll be booed out the buliding, par the course I guess. It's like they actively try to get this guy to be hated, it's comical at this point.
>>

The years before 14-15 were also shit. The 40 man rumble was a fucking mess and Shaemus won. Nobody gives a shit about Shaemus or Del Rio. There hasn't been a good rumble winner for so long I can't even remember who the last good one was. Probably Edge.

Del Rio won the 40-man, Sheamus was the year after
>>

Actually Vince is a sadist and likes rubbing it into the fans. Besides WWE has no competition and he can keep doing it now. This is his dying wish
>>
>>2214560
>>Orton vs Cena AGAIN

this wont actually happen
>>
>>2214539
As terrible as his character was, you can go back and watch Sheamus' face run the year he won the Rumble and shortly after the title and see the crowd was super invested in him. Not smarks particulary, but the casuals were eating up his persona as Smackdown Cena, obliterating everything in his path.

Del Rio's was a waste and got muddied with Edge retiring anyways, since they then gave Christian a feel good run to put the cherry on top of Edge's farewell tour. Then they propped Orton up as the top guy, where he failed to uphold the brand in comparison to Edge as ratings and interest never recovered up until recently with the brand split.

Neither of those situations, however, were as widely scorned and hated as Bootista and Booman Reigns overtaking what should have been Bryan's moments (at least for one of them for sure) I'll agree that Edge's was probably the last time most people were genuinely happy with the winner, which is insane when you consider it happened 7 years ago.

The Rumble's allure and prestige has taken a fuckin nosedive these past couple years, and it's entirely on them for shit tier booking.
>>
>>2212737
OK, so I just finished watching the highlights. Mind you, I only keep an eye on the product and havent watched a PPV in years

Why the FUCK did they have Jericho sneak his way through the Rumble all the way from number 2 only to get thrown out by Roman? Why the FUCK did Orton win again? Literally who still gives a fuck about Randy Orton in 2017? His first win was bland, why did they think it would work the second time?

The only sensible choice was Jericho to set up a KO-Jericho feud at Mania.
>>
>ITT smarks getting worked by Vince

Get real, smarks. It was only a matter of time before they stopped catering to your spoiled millennial bullshit. They made NXT for you to sing your wrasslers song as he comes to the ring so go watch that and leave the big leagues to the big dog.
>>
>>2214595
IDK. Unless they have something really weird up their sleeve like having Orton jump to Raw or setting up a triple threat, it seems like we're either looking at Cena's historic 16th reign lasting only a month (not fucking likely) or the millionth fucking Cena VS Orton match that no one asked for main eventing WM. I'm interested that Orton winning could lead to good things for Wyatt and Harper but I really don't see how they turn this into a Wrestlemania match that people want to see without shitting all over Cena's title run.
>>
>>2214615
Your boy went 0-2 tonight brah, and is confirmed to not main event Mania for the 3rd time straight. He actually had a tiny amount of support, mostly from the women who are sopping for him, during his title match, but they're killing that dead in its tracks by pitting him with Taker.

Roman Reigns isn't a bad worker and his in-ring work isn't horrible either. Kill yourself, OP.

Kurt Angle was supposed to be the #30 guy, but sometime during the women's match he had a disagreement backstage and left the arena so Reigns was a last minute replacement.

The use of it as an insult for people who are calling out the WWE's bullshit is bad enough, but apparently wanting Kurt Angle back is a "Smark dream".

It's starting to become a fucking buzzword on this board and it's not even an actual insult.

More like 100-2 if anything. The guy has been positioned as Takers final match, and naturally Taker will be putting him over on the biggest stage of them all. Reigns is the real winner. Not Cena whos gonna drop the belt in two weeks in the chamber, not Orton whos going to face who the fuck cares in the main event at mania. Not Owens whos gonna probably drop the belt at fastlane, not AJ whos gonna face Shane 'Spot Monkey' McMahon at Mania.

Having him go over Taker's just gonna further the stigma he's already gotten and was just starting to remove, man. It's an overall net loss and I don't see how Vince doesn't see that, but whatevs.

Seein dem Shield boys crush dem old boney relics into dust come Mania mite be cool, makes for a cool parallel at least. Fans will almost certainly disagree in Roman's case though.

>Triple H put himself in the rumble last year at #30
>Roman Reigns coming out at #30 this year after losing his UC title match

They could really use this chance to bring to light Romans push over the years by Vince. Vince would need to appear on TV and after Roman goes through Taker a feud with Cena should be next. This of course requires Roman to be a heel but that would be pretty easy if its revealed that he's Vince's kayfabe chosen one. Vince can play up on his lack of faith in Cena and Taker to continue to be there and he can show frustration over not being able to compel the WWE universe to get behind the Big Dog.

Vince has gotten more talent over on-screen than he ever has off-screen and having one last tv role where he can get Roman over just as he wants him to would be a perfect way to say goodbye to Vince McMahon the character. It would please the smarks because they would have been right all along, and it would please the casuals because Vince is a fucking draw and always has been.

Hey, man if you can tune out the crowd for going on...what 3 years now(?) of nonstop booing and less vocal support than Cena got in his midcard days, I don't know what to tell ya.

Roman's a cool as fuck dude outside the ring from what I've seen and appreciates his fans while also constantly improving in the ring. His booking is attrocious though, it's not really even debatable that he'll get booed out the building come Mania weekend and the following Raw.

It's not even like he's ever had the dueling chants either, he's just pushed that way because that's what they want him to be. Comparing him to Dean and Seth's reactions doesn't really help his case either. You take into account how much they've pumped into his exposure while trying to safeguard his image by outright muting crowds, altering anti-Roman sentiments on social media and it's just sad man.

Let the Big Dog off his leash and be cutthroat
and then maybe you can see some proper results.
>>
I'm now convinced Reigns is the GOAT crowd worker. Austin, Hogan, Flair, Rock, Dusty: they were all good. But even those greats couldn't leave the crowd seething simply by playing their music. Our big dog truly is in a league of his own.
>>
There is no way they aren't actively trying to get Reigns booed at this point.

Even if they HAD to have him enter why not at 27-29?

They knew everyone was hyped for a surprise or debut at 30 and they fucking put Reigns in there.

>>
>>2214750
>Roman Reigns gets an Undertaker match at Wrestlemania
>John Cena doesn't

Well it cannot be the booing issue because whilst audiences are split (but starting to soften up to in his later years) on Cena, 100% of the crowd will boo Reigns out of the building.
>>
>>2214754
He got so much heat that it reversed and now everyone loves Sheiky Baby.

Not only that, he no-sold the Braun Strowman attack and the brass knuckles from earlier in the night. It would've been much more interesting if AJ entered the Rumble instead, and getting eliminated last by Orton, and then winning back the belt at EC, setting up Orton/Bray/Styles.

>>
Is Bray even good enough for a world title reign and a main event at WM? His gimmick is stale now after years with the same shit, and isn't anything special in ring. He should've been booked better when his entrance was over with fans.

If anything, it should be a Wyatt family vs Harper feud.

If that's the definition of ''being over''...Roman doesn't ''piss of the crowd'', he's not a heel, nor he's doing heel stuff. He just makes everyone change the channel.

Roman got overshadowed in his title match, Cena vs AJ was clearly better, everyone forgot about him and the ppv was going well. Now it has killed the interest in WWE.
