Mika Iida has a submission-oriented style that seems to be euro-inspired even though she has never left Japan. It's pretty amazing. She probably collects World of Sport tapes. There's also Kyuuri who does MMA grappling while dressed up like Peter Pan.

They're two of absolute my favorites to watch.

Io, in the heyday of joshi, would have been considered a very good wrestler. There were plenty of wrestlers on par with her and plenty still AHEAD of her. The quality of joshi dropped off tremendously years ago so someone like Io stands out all the more. It also helps that she's in the most popular female wrestling promotion which panders heavily to a Western audience; most of whom only either know about Stardom as far as joshi goes or only care to know about Stardom and not much else.
