Babyfaces and Heels are an outdated concept. Maybe long ago would such a thing have worked but it's obvious that today's crowd just doesn't give a shit about good guys vs. bad guys. The crowds, especially smark crowds will cheer whoever is entertaining as opposed to booing or simply ignoring wrestlers who they simply aren't entertained by. Vince and Co. are still of the backwards belief that the casual viewer still wants superheroes saving the day and defeating the bad guys when that couldn't be further from the truth and will continue to push guys like Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns down our throats. They're handed awfully terrible scripted promos that are written by complete hollywood hacks instead of letting them speak from the heart. Whenever the wrestling community grows bored with a bland, boring babyface who smiles to the ring and shakes everyone's hand, cut horribly unfunny promos, the immediate response is to turn him heel when it's another thing entirely. We want characters with a bit of an edge, we want characters that kick ass, characters that aren't booked like little pussies. Wrestlers who aren't afraid to stand up for themselves, speak from the heart and act like men. Since strong heels are the only ones who get to show off a bit of violence and masculinity, I say they should turn ALL the wrestlers into heels, including the good guys, the bad guys and those who they're trying to get over with the exception of enhancement talent. Have Heel vs Heel matches and have the crowd decide who to cheer for and who to boo, but book them both strongly. It worked in the late 90's when even the good guys acted like assholes. What do you say? Do you feel that babyface vs heel storylines are a thing of the past? Should we turn them all tweeners and have the crowd decide who to cheer for or should we have better established and fleshed out babyfaces and heels to cheer or boo for without unnecessary turns? Would tweener vs tweener matches on the regular, succeed?

Paul Heyman tried that whole tweener schtick in 2002. No one cheered anyone and no one booed anyone. Bad idea.
>>2143397
In theory they would. People can relate with someone who has to be "bad" sometimes and "good" the rest. Or vice versa. In WWE especially, the writing is so atrociously strict, that wrestlers don't really have the freedom to flex into more of a tweeter role like that. Writing is stuck in the 1980's where there's a "super-bad" heel and a "superhero"-like face.

ITT: WWE babbys think face/heel is an outdated concept because their favorite company is awful at booking them.

Heels and faces até a good Idea, the problem is wwe being so o that their Idea of a decent man is a complete cuck that no ones likes. Bring back homophobic jokes and meant bantz to faces and it will work just fine
>>2143397
>Faces and Heels are 'good' and 'bad'
That's the problem right there. A face is someone your cheer, not someone who is 'good,' and a heel is someone you boo, not someone who is 'bad.'
You can easily have faces like Austin, Rock, or AJ, who are objectively shitty to other people, but who you want to cheer because of who they are fighting.
WWE has forgotten this though, and the face/heel dynamics are pretty fucked up. You have the New Day going around humiliating and make fun of people despite being "good guys." Sheamus is a heel despite having done literally nothing wrong besides being slightly more aggressive than a face would be. How are you supposed to know who to cheer for? How are you supposed to know who to boo?
Face/Heel dynamics are literally just Protagonist/Antagonists dynamics, the problem is that WWE doesn't understand how to build or portray a face or a heel.
Okay I read to where the first paragraph should end.

Maybe, I wasn't fond of how Puma was booked in season 1. He was the lead babyface and couldn't defend his title without help. It was frustrating as hell for me and I was just begging for him to drop it.
The point is give to the wrestlers a good story that explains what are their reasons to fight without the moral or ethical cathegory of the character as something decisive to start a feud.
It doesn't matter if is a personal confrontation, a rivalry for be the best or a fight for the championship. Good guys or bad guys is something that doesn't matter in this, and is something that is related to the gimnick, and no to the motivations.
Face vs face, heel vs heel, tweener vs tweener, tweener vs face, heel vs tweener... there is a lot of posibilities and they doesn't are interested in. In real life, there are a lot of good guys confronted with other good guys because of circunstances, why this can not happen in wrestling? Why is always face over heel (and, at this time, only coward or dirty heels, nothing of strong heels by theirselves)
