The article is right. I thought she needed to such Edmond a long time ago, even before the Holm fight. He offered nothing to her and just made money standing around while she did what already knew how to do. It's not just that she couldn't learn to box it's that she just cannot take a punch, she looked in trouble after only a few punches and 15 seconds and that is nowhere near good enough to be in the UFC competing at the top level.

It's callled MMA you are supposed to have a good base of Martial Arts and want to improve and learn new techniques/styles while playing to your own strengths and adapting to compete against your opponents weaknesses. She did none of this.

Also the rest of the field has got much better and figured her out, avoid the armbar and being taken down and keep it on th feet.

One trick pony is harsh but to be honest she is nothing more than a good Judo competitor.

Well first of all we should acknowledge that Nunes hits like a truck for her division and is both fast and precise, it's not just that Ronda sucks but Nunes is a harsh opponent unless you can draw her out and kill her still questionable gastank later.

Having said that, beyond anything else what really brought everything crashing down was Ronda's mentality and preparation going into this. Her coach is a fucking hack who I hope goes out of business soon, that definitely played a part, but as soon as she got tagged once everything she may or may not have prepared went right out the window.

Ronda absorbed a ton of punishment and wasn't there after a bit, but even before that as soon as the first hard shot landed she went stiff, flat-footed and tried to swing against a better, longer striker who was keeping her within perfect punching distance and lighting her up. The funny thing is that as she did this she also looked timid and unsure of herself. She was trying to brawl with a brawler while also looking like she'd rather be anywhere else.

I think Ronda could still be a force in the rather green division if she just plugs some holes in her defense and footwork and learns to assure herself a safe clinch from where she can work the stuff that she outclasses everyone else in, but that lack of proper quality training and especially her own questionable mentality were the deciding factors for this.
