There's some kind of coginative dissonance for American fans. As if nostigailia proves what they liked before but now they want a wrestler to look like their loser self does in 2016.

Hogan was booked strong from the start in wwf. Same for Goldberg in wcw.

Other guys like Scsa and the Rock became booked strong later on. Inoki booked strong mostly in Njpw.

Even in attitude era the top guys are protected.

Roman got the Hogan amd Goldberg push which failed to appeal to underdog fans and indy fans.
