>As noted, this past Monday's WWE RAW drew 2.69 million viewers. PWTorch reports that the final rating for the show was a 1.88.

>It was the lowest non-holiday rating for the show since 1996. It would have been the lowest rating for the show since 1996 including holidays, however the 4th of July episode this year was slightly lower, garnering a 1.87. Note that in 1996 RAW not only faced competition from Monday Night Football, but also from WCW Monday Nitro, which was outdrawing them every week after Hulk Hogan turned heel that summer.

Not a valid excuse. Explain why this hasn't happened every year? Enough of the excuse. WWE is shit and even the dedicated fanbase is dwindling. Something needs to be done or the company is finished in 15 years tops.

Okay, but ratings have been steadily declining since Wrestlemania 31 and the first week of MNF with two pretty unimportant games and Raw had its worst rating since 96. What's it gonna look like when we have actually important games with huge divisional and playoff implications in October and November?

It can't JUST be Football, there's other factors at play here.

Vince and Haitch are both booking Raw. There is no one in charge of Smackdown besides creative (since Vince forgot about them in Smackdown and Shane).

Which would make you think that the casuals are gone, so all that's left is a hardcore crowd that will watch wrestling no matter what else is on. (Like TNA's situation - they have a small audience but don't seem to get affected by competition.)

But football is still killing RAW. So the absolute floor is a lot lower. Heaven help WWE if serious wrestling competition emerges.

Second Hour: 2.717 million viewers (3.066 million viewers last week)

if this isn't a serious problem to you, then idk.

We're witnessing the end of pro wrestling. Not even WWE can sell out arenas anymore without it being Wrestlemania. They're handing out tickets for free to try and pad out places that are only getting a couple thousand people to attend. They're doing their best on the camera end to hide how empty the places actually are.

Maybe not the end but major money making corporations like WWE may cease to be a thing, at least in the US.

Attendance is down to all-time lows or close to it, ratings are at all time lows, interest from the general population non-existent. So now they've begun cratering completely to smarks, that small population that is always going to watch and attend. And they're still not making money from the network.

You guys are Chicken Littleing something fierce here.

You know what the bad ratings mean? What they REALLY mean? They mean that WWE has until 2019 to get them up or it could hurt their next TV deal with USA. Doesn't mean they won't get one. Just means it might not be as good as if the ratings were higher.

That's all. It doesn't mean WWE is dying. It doesn't mean wrestling is dying. It means they have to start putting on a better product, so more people will watch, so they can get a better TV deal in 2019.

After the spike the late 90s and very early 2000s, the ratings for most of the 2000s were pretty stable with little decline over time. It's only been the end of the 2010s that the ratings have really taken a drop.

And it's not that surprising since many of the top Attitude wrestlers were still top attractions in the 2000s. Now they're almost all gone.

Torrents are the only reason I'm still watching

I guess Television ratings are not really important anymore, WWE needs to look at "On Demand". Also reduce the televised part of Raw to 2 hours. See Smackdown is better partly because it's 2 hours

Television is still WWE's most important component; it's where they make most of their money. Ratings directly feed into that

It's not just WWE tho so thinking that it's all caused by "vanilla midgets" is retarded. All major promotions have record low attendances (with exception of Mexico). Wrestling is essentially switching places with MMA. Just 5 - 6 years ago everyone would be laughing at the idea of MMA having mainstream appeal. Now UFC has absolutely no problem outdrawing major WWE events.
Like it or not, WWE will never ever attract casuals again. That whole crowd moved to UFC.

Let's see

>3 hour show
>1/3 of it being women's wrestling, usually also opening with it
>and 90% of the audience doesn't give a real fuck about them other than their looks
>squash matches that have nothing interesting in them
>storylines that either go nowhere or are so shit you can't even watch it fully without having a cringe feeling in your chest
>repetitive matches - Owens vs Zayn part 9243436, etc
>predictability of what's going to happen next
>commercials during matches
>really slow pace of most of the matches, loads of rest holds
>most hardcore spot they can think of is the announce table spot

It's going down be cause it bores people to death and makes them tired with wrestling. 3 hours of this crap would make anyone not watch it again if they were a first time viewer.

Make it 2h and more action packed or it will STILL go down.

>>
>>1771188
WWE is following the same route of comics after the 90s. It's kidnapped by a small demographic of nerds with a direct interaction with the company through the internet and said demographic stick to the product no matter how much they claim to hate it and how much they wish it was exactly as it was during their childhood.
>>
>>1771184

2.5 million average streaming

Why did you put Vince on the Raw side? Wasn't he reportedly being very hands on with Smackdown and making sure it's a strong brand?
>>
>>1771293
They're still relatively fresh, don't take up 3 hours per episode and usually end in a cliffhanger which makes people turn in the next week for another episode.

Besides right now the """nerd culture""" is rather popular meaning people will rather watch a fantasy show than mandrama any time
>>
>>1771308
>and usually end in a cliffhanger which makes people turn in the next week for another episode.

Which is what WWE tries to do and usually fails miserably.
>>
>>1771316
Because their cliffhangers either turn into something completely disappointing (which is predictable) or generally just don't pay off at all.

And when people see tons of cliffhangers in a row they eventually get bored and realize they're shit.

Also, what helps those TV shows is one simple thing. Seasons. They have episodes weekly, then nothing for months, even years, then another season starts. They don't get bored with it because it's not on TV every fucking week.
