Do we have Stockholm syndrome?

Let's be honest with ourselves. No rational fanbase would stick with the product after 9 years of shit television. Since 2008 I can count the number of good storylines or moments on my hands.
>>
>>1593723
I only started watching again in 2014 after quitting around 2005ish.
>>
WWE's business model is "we used to be good"
>>
>>1593723

I only started watching again in 2011 after quitting around 2004ish after watching CM Punks Pipebomb.
>>
Well most of WWMEME's fanbase is gone, so yea the only ones left are definitely suffering from Battered Housewife Syndrome.
>>
>>1593723
No because I'm not a faggot. I enjoy the show and if I didn't I'd stop. Everyone who asks themselves why they watch it while they hate it is a special form of retard.
>>
>>1593729
>>1593725
>there are """""""people"""""""" who have been watching for all that time and have never had an extended break
>>
I stopped watching in 2007 and started watching again in 2011
>>
>>1593729
>Le Phil pipebomb brought me back

Yeah, because you channel surfed and JUST so happened to stumble on it. Or you're hanging with WWE fans who told you what happened.
>>
>>1593723
I started watching again in June this year after stopping in 2010.
>>
wwe has a monoply on wrestling, your options are wwe or boring ROH or lolTNA

I would love if wwe got some actual competition but thats not going to happen.
>>
>>1593752
What are you trying to say here?
>>
>>1593752

I learned about the Pipebomb through a hockey website
>>
>>1593725
Literally me
>>
>>1593752
What i meant was that I started watching consistently after the pipebomb. I popped in every now and then between 2004-2011 but didn't like what i saw ESPECIALLY the straight edge society and really didn't see a point in sticking with it. after the pipebomb the shield kept me hooked.

I always take breaks, last one was after WM30 until this year's RR.
Thinking of doing another one desu

We are the loud minority, the "fuck this company, see you next week", we're here forever stuck with the WWE because being a wrestling fan is a big part of who we are, we have nothing better in our lives and giving it up is too big of a sacrifice.

The silent majority are all the people that have quietly stopped watching over the years, no forum tantrums or social media outrage no memes, they just grew out of it and are now free.

We wish we could be like them.
>>
Stopped a couple weeks after WM 26

Don't really know why I just did

Came back after Seth Rollins' cash in
>>
Came back cause of the Brock-Cena Summerslam match after stopping in around '08
>>
>>1593782
That's because after Shawn died the WWE died
>>
>>1593773
I can read, thanks. Not sure what your point is. Why does it matter how he found out about it?
>>
>>1593788
yeah just like in 1998
>>
>>1593757
>your options are wwe or boring ROH or lolTNA
You say that like TNA's ability to make people laugh with them is a bad thing. Impact is definitely the most entertaining wrestling show at the moment.

Speaking for myself, I'm not suffering from battered wife syndrome like some other WWE fans are. I still support the product through video games, DVDs, and Network subscriptions.

That said, I don't watch the current product at all. I was watching NXT but with the recent call ups, I have no reason to now.

I also recently cancelled my network subcription. I don't hate WWE but it's been pretty lackluster lately.

Maybe it will get interesting again near WrestleMania. Until then, I'll happily take a hiatus. I still love their older stuff though.

Stopped watching in 2010. Came back for Rock-Cena, left after that and returned last August after seeing that the Dudley Boyz were back.
>>
Not at all. When WWE is too shit for me to care, I stop watching.

Since mid 2014, I haven't bothered watching WWE.

This year, I checked NXT out because of Nakamura and then moved to WWE proper when Ambrose won the title.

If things go back to being complete shit, I'll just stop watching again and loosely follow it along by checking results once every three months or so.
>>
Uh no, I stopped watching for over 10 years. I came back cause of Roman. If you fucking watched WWE throughout the late 2000s you need fucking help
>>
>>1593723
>Do we have Stockholm syndrome?

Yes.

I find the problem is there is so much great wrestling going back to the 60s-70s worth watching that it makes you linger and keep up with the current shit.

For my money, wrestling went to shit in 2004. Specifically Wrestlemania. As a young, dumb, smark I considered Benoit/Eddy hugging DA BOMB, but the years have shown me that NASH IS ALWAYS RIGHT.

There's no coming back as well. It's a public company and the mindset of a public corporate company will/has killed the spark of prowrestling.
>>
Stopped watching raw after trips buried booker on wrestlemania. stopped watching smackdown in 2006. returned for bryan in 2013. now i watch the hulu version of raw and live SD.
>>
>>1593723
But I don't watch the TV any more (haven't in about 18 months actually) and haven't even watched a PPV since WM. I just enjoy keeping up with the drama via dirtsheets and /asp/. The actual wrestling show bit is dogshit awful.

The solent majority is the ones watching it and going to live shows.

Most people still don't discuss hobbys unless its football or movies.
>>
>>1593723
I like Professional wrestling, but not enough to invest myself in a show formatted in a language I can't understand, not enough that I don't value good characters and story-lines in equal measure, and not really even enough to start viewing a promotion from scratch.
WWE has the right levels of accessibility and thematic-focus to suit me perfectly. Granted, the narratives don't usually come off well, but that's where the fast-forward button, or just not paying attention whatsoever comes into play.
LU is another example of something fitting with my tastes and levels of interest. I just don't care THAT much about pro wrestling on the whole.
